We had the pork belly that is served steamed and hanging on a little rack. It’s delicious assuming you like garlic and spice. Most everything is spicy here, but you can get it mild. I do wish the spicy, dried fried chicken had more szechwan pepper corns and they were larger so the ratios were better to the spice. We had pretty good service since it wasn’t busy. I only gave 3 stars because I have had better Szechuan food. I would come back if I am in this area.

Really good, but truly Szechuan, so HOT! If you can’t handle hot, this isn’t for you. I’m posting two pictures with this review. One is the cauliflower and preserved pork before we ate and the other is just the hot peppers after we were done. Two things you can tell from these photos: we must have liked it because we ate everything and that’s a lot of peppers.

On service I would give a 2, but the food was a 3. Made it right before the close so we were rushed to place the final order. Fried chicken and fish in chilli oil were excellent, the cold dishes including the sweet and sour pork not so good. Not bad but not great. Go there just for the food.

Mmmmmmm… so spicy. The chilli, the sichuan pepper. My lips are still tingling. If you love spicy food, you will love the Red Chilli. Those in the know(ie; colleagues from work who come from Sichuan) tell me this is as authentic as it gets. Sichuan food is known for its spicyness and flavour. If you like things hot, you will love it. There are dishes where chilli is the primary ingredient. If you aren’t quite so much of a chilli fiend, fear not there are milder options as well. The tea smoked duck is amazing. My favorite bit though is the sichuan pepper. Its not actually pepper but the fruit of tghe prickly ash. It has a heat like black pepper but it also causes you lips and tongue to go all numb and tingly(its a lot nicer then it sounds). Its used liberally in sichuan cooking and it is amazing. Forget your boring Aussie style Cantonese food with its sweet, gloopy sauces. This is the real deal. Red Chilli is a chain so there are about 5 of them. This one is a new one and I think its the old Haymarket one moved a few hundred meters down the road. All of them are good though.

The menu advertised Hunan cuisine(lots of chili, spicy, not a lot of sauce) and the food was really authentic. Dining companion and I ordered three dishes: salt and pepper prawns, spicy eggplant and green beans, and Hunan chicken. The vegetable dish was just succulent, bursting with flavor. Wow! Chicken was spicy and smoky, with hints of star anise and cassia, and the shrimp – which we ordered as a mild counter to the spicy dishes – was sweet and crispy. This is one of the best Chinese meals I’ve eaten anywhere.

One word — HOT! All the dishes are cooked in spicy sichuan chilli or pepper in this restaurant. I love spicy food, enjoyed the food they serve. We ordered kung po chicken, lamb hot pot, fried string beans, tofu dish — all tasty. Good service and reasonably priced.

At the Red Chilli Sichuan the name is the program. They serve a multitude of fantastic, spicy dishes and even the bland dishes are still spicy. My favorite food at the Red Chilli Sichuan is the won ton soup in chilli oil. It sounds regular, but it’s the best won ton I ever had, very fresh and SO flavorful! The Red Chilli Sichuan has an la carte restaurant as well as a hot pot area, and whichever you visit, prepare for delicious fresh produce and a lot of spice!
