Had eggs benedict and porridge. Was expecting something special based on a friends recommendation but it was all pretty average. Fine but nothing to rave about, and pricey for what it was. Service was average too — wait staff were pleasant but seemed stretched thin and the shop was only half full.

Lovely café and easily the best place among the several café/restaurants in Heathmont to eat. Always busy, which says how good they are. Prices are reasonable and food reliably good. It’s dog friendly as well, with bowl of water provided at the tables in front.

Barclays is a popular spot for a lot of my friends, so was nice to finally check it for myself. It is quite a large café and sits at the end of a shopping strip. Staff are super friendly and the service is quick, I ordered Eggs Sombrero which was highly recommended by others. This included their own home made baked beans with a poached egg and spinach. The only reason I am giving them 3 stars is because their coffee was super average, lacked taste and was poorly presented. Being a café, this was more important to me than a good meal.

With a few different café choices in a small group of shops, Barclays is the ‘Gourmet” one of the lot. Although it’s also the most expensive, they do a great cup of coffee here, and the range of cakes and food is fantastic, the amount of awards they’ve picked up over the years testament to this. Open for breakfast too, you can pick up an omelette for about $ 10, and the gourmet«Breakfast Burger», consisting of toasted Turkish bread, with two free range fried eggs, bacon and sautéed mushrooms inside, is worth a mention. Lunches are quite gourmet themselves, and are a mix of tasty salads and hot hearty meals.
