I was pleasantly surprised by Fasta Pasta, I thought it would be cheap boring pasta as I haven’t had a good take away pasta in a long time but it’s pretty good! We tried this place out because you get a buy one get one free voucher on the back of a Coles receipt and it’s close to home. I ordered the Fettuccini Verdi Casanova with sundried tomatoes, spinach and cashews but I asked for it without cream and pretty sure they still put in a little. Otherwise it would’ve been 4 stars from me. My husband ordered the ravioli and loved it too and the main sizes are big and filling. We got two meals for $ 17 so you can’t complain on a Saturday night in when you don’t want to cook. Call up beforehand and you won’t have to wait and their menu is online.

By the name you wouldn’t expect top quality pasta. I had the spinach and ricotta ravioli which was missing enough spinach and ricotta to even see never mind taste. For the price I would expect them to be plump and full of flavour. The portion size however was generous and free bread, butter and Parmesan cheese offered for dine in customers. Service was shocking as was the state of the building with leaky black patches on the ceilings and white paint splashed all over the brown joinery. Overall I would rate it average at best and won’t be returning in a hurry.

Why oh why do we need a generic pasta restaurant. Australia is brimming with traditional Italian restaurants that have family owned recipes and fresh ingredients. Although some of these may be considered expensive and top end there are so many that are family friendly and good value. Curious as to what this place actually was I walked through the doors gripping my cynicism and expecting an American style diner selling spaghetti bolognaise. It turns out its not as cheesey as I originally thought and the menu is quite extensive as flavours and tastes go. The prices are good too. The focus here is on kids, providing a fast food option that isn’t hamburgers and fish and chips it seems. In this sense I agree with it but otherwise I will stick to the family run restaurants.
