Went on a Sunday for breakfast and the atmosphere and décor instantly stood out. Small venue, but beautiful nonetheless. Food was decently priced and the size of the meals were more than adequate. They were unfortunately out of muesli which was what most of our table wanted, but we were happy to change to eggs benny on a whim. Food was lovely but I’m not sure how it’s possible to run out of muesli when it’s not necessarily a perishable item. Coffee was lovely and the staff were bubbly and friendly. Definitely a positive experience and will be back again for sure!

I am enjoying discovering that Ipswich has some fun and interesting offerings in the restaurant, café and pub world. Rafter and Rose is tucked away near a laneway just off the main drag of Ipswich township. If you can forget the fact your view is of a dated mural of the cinemas, you could almost imagine you are sitting in a café in a Melbourne laneway. The décor is industrial meets cottage and it works. The staff were more than friendly, giving that olé country hospitality a good name. The baked goods looked scrummy, and if I wasn’t already committed to my breakfast choice I certainly would have been tempted to try a slice of something… I went with the French toast, which my friends… was devine… and there was a generous scoop of icecream and heaped spoonfuls of delicious and fresh tasting berries. Coffee was good. Well done Ipswich… well done.

I had such a lovely experience at Rafter and Rose today. The customer service was wonderful, my cappuccino was delicious(and was served with some latte art!) and my lunch toastie was beautifully presented and yummy. The bacon jam made all the difference! The café is visually pleasing and a relaxing place to sit back and enjoy the company you’re with. The bake treats looked tempting. Something I’ll have to try next time I return… Because it’ll definitely be soon.
