Extremely busy. All I wanted was a learners permit for another vehicle class and 2 hours and 15 minutes later I finally got it. Maybe my mistake was to arrive at 1:50pm, coz there was a queue to apply for the lisence, the test itself, then a queue to pay for the permit.
The place was packed and felt like Centrelink.

Ok. I already know what you are thinking. Why on Earth would anyone rate a government department so highly. I am old enough to remember when the Warwick Licensing Centre was the only one to service all of the northern suburbs. Where you would go in with a packed lunch and drink bottle and hope that you were seen to by the end of the day, or at least before you lost your cool at the bored and rowdy kids that were also waiting inpatiently.
I have only had one instance in which I needed to go into the Licensing Centre. I normally do everything else on the internet or by mail. I rocked up at 8am when they opened. I was one of about 5 people waiting at the doors. I walked in, hit the right button for what I needed to do and then went to sit down. Before I took a step by number was called and I was at the counter being served. The kiwi guy behind the counter was very helpful and had everything sorted in 2 minutes. I walked out amazed and how quick and easy it was. If you need to go, do it first thing and get the staff while they are refreshed and happy.

Joondalup Licensing is where a lot of nervous learner drivers in the northern suburbs head to do their practical exam. The bulk of their traffic [pardon the pun] tend to be learner drivers wanting to take the next step on their journey to receiving their driver’s licence. It can be immediately noticeable what the result of a practical exam is — some students positively bounce through the doors, while others would hang their heads in disappointment.
