They don’t make donuts like they used to… but Puffin Fresh donuts are close! I love a good Jam donut with more than a pea size blob of jam, and these jam donuts are amazeballs! Their coffee wasn’t as amazing but still a great compliment to my jam donut!

Look, if I am going to eat something like doughnuts then they have to be the best. At least then I have blown all those calories on something tasty. In Perth Puffin Fresh Joondalup have the best doughnuts — for the cinnamon and jam. Not a big fan of the coloured icing selection. The icing is way too sweet for my liking. Grab yourself a tray for a bargain and share with your friends.

Puffin Fresh Joondalup are the lamborghini of doughnuts. Forget Krispy Kreme or Dunkin Donuts. This is where it is at. The jam doghnuts are filled with sweet strawberry jam, the cinnamon doghnuts are light and fluffy. They have proper bear claws. The trays of doughnuts are great value. The coffee is average, but I don’t come here for anything but doughnuts, and lots of them.

The only upside to Puffin Fresh Donuts are some of their donuts — not all their donuts are good, however. For instance, their iced donuts are lavished with what looks to be radio-active icing, and are so sweet that you can feel your teeth cringing. Their coffees are cheap, if average — basically, you get what you paid for. Their cappuccinos have too much cream and the coffee tastes burnt. Their utensils are not always clean. There was one time where I was given a spoon that had obviously missed the dishwasher, and really, the server should have noticed the stains straight away. Puffin Fresh is okay if you are on a budget, but there are better places within Lakeside for a coffee and sweet treat.

This is our work time treat, one day a week(normally fridays) one of us will go and buy a selection of donuts for the rest of the staff members to munch on throughout the day. I love the jam donuts from here, and always request one when someone else is buying them. They are all really reasonably priced and taste delicious. The staff are really friendly as well and are pretty good when it comes to making mixed packs. I really enjoy the coffees from here as well and they do coffee and donut deals!

Its glamorous staff may look like members of some fascist youth organisation – you can imagine them marching in lockstep together, or swimming without any clothes on in the fjord and it not seeming obscene because of how platonically beautiful they all are – but that’s probably because they don’t eat the product. Which is gloriously bad for you, and thus gloriously popular. The prices are good, the coffee isn’t bad, and the donuts, obviously, are excellent.(I prefer them to, say, Krispy Kremes, if not to Dunkin’ Donuts.) Sitting up at the counter on the spinning stools, like characters in a movie from half a century ago, is a lot of fun. One should avoid doing so too often, however, if one wishes to look like those kids behind the counter.
