I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food here. We had the kangaroo burger and the cheese quesadilla and both were tasty. Prices and service were good as well.

Ordinary — not sucky, not great. The food was tasty and satisfying, but presentation was lacking and my pulled pork came on a McDonald’s style bun. This place has a bit of a funky vibe but food-wise seems to survive on drawing in hungry tourists stepping off the train.

I has an excellent Barramundi with Asian vegetables. Very tasty and cooked just right. My son had vege quesadillas which were very good. The highlight was the live music. Just 3 local guys — 2 on guitar and 1 on drums playing jazzy blues. I could have listened to them all night!

Located approximately a two hour’s train ride from Sydney’s Central Station, I ended up going here for a big morning«brekkie» before walking to the Blue Mountains. I arrived at this place around 8:30AM and when I walked in, I felt like I was walking into a NSW(New South Wales) countryside diner with a tiny bit of sophistication from the 1940s. I got a Breakfast Special, which I ordered my eggs to be poached, it came with bacon, ham, some hash browns and some toast with vegemite. For the first time, I had the tastiest bacon in months. Loved the tenderness, it was not overly fried, the eggs were also good, and the hash browns had a decent crisp. The toast was also good, spreading a little vegemite gave it an interesting but slightly tasty flavour. The dish, along with some orange juice, was about $ 12. My stomach was really full for the whole morning and part of the afternoon as I went exploring around the Blue Mountains. The service was just ok, nothing very spectacular. Wished the people could be a little nicer, but then I realised that I was in the NSW countryside, not in a nice city. Overall, if you are looking for a decently good traditional Western hot breakfast with some Australian flavour in a NSW countryside town like Katoomba, this is a pretty good option.

The food is good, the service is horrible, but I’m not sure everyone that works there is a total wanker like the young short dude with a beard who has no customer service skills what so ever. When I brought it up with him, he argued, constantly calling me his mate, as if I had any interest in having any association with him at all. Do not expect customer service at restaurants, generally, in Australia. Like the little t@#t at Savoy; they’re likely to simply say; I just take orders, I’m not here to make you happy.

Getting out-ordered sucks. It’s 11am and three of us are apocalyptically hung-over after a beast of a wedding just outside Katoomba. There’s a long, awful drive in 33 degree heat back to Sydney looming in my very near future and I don’t know what to order. I go for a big breakfast with bacon, hash browns, tomato and poached eggs. My mate goes for the chicken schnitty with salad and chips with chicken salt and a tub of gravy and oh god it’s good, two golden crumbed chicken breasts and I made the mistake of trying some and all of a sudden my food didn’t seem that appealing anymore. Sit at the outside tables and watch the world go by, and they will because it’s Katoomba and there’s only one main street so if someone is there you will definitely see them if you sit there long enough. This joint is popular with a lot of the local teenagers so you know it must be cool.

The big breakfast was pretty good the kangaroo was so so. Waited forever to get table water. Word of advice for the cook when you microwave your mash potato do it for less time. Mine had the same temperature profile as magma. Better still don’t microwave your mash and make it fresh.

This is not 4 star food or coffee. Decent food close to the train station.

I would give this 3.5 stars. Had a late lunch/early dinner before catching the train back to Sydney. The other eateries around it were closed at the time, this place seems to have the best hours. It has kind of a hippie vibe, art on the walls, and has vegetarian options. But I wound up having the kangaroo sandwich. The roo itself was nicely cooked and tasty but the sandwich format doesn’t really work — the meat comes in chunks and is a denser, chewier meat that kept falling out of the bread. I just wound up separating the ingredients. A little slow service but friendly, made the train just fine. The toilet is up some steps in a weird back room area.

Reasonably priced diner with casual atmosphere a block from the train station. Entrees seem to be about 15 – 22. I had the karabundi fish with stir fry there were ample veggies and was very tasty. Companions had quesadilla(I wouldn’t get their Mexican) and a kangaroo burger. It was a slab of meat, not ground and was really good. The are a Byo place but to our disappointment you couldn’t bring in beer, only wine.

Huge big breakfast which was great. Still using cheap white bread which is a let down. Staff were busy but still friendly and polite. Café style layout but warm and comfortable booths give a relaxed feel. Ugly paintings cover the walls promoting untalented local artists. Great feed at an inexpensive price.

Looking for a place to eat dinner on a Saturday night during a trip to the Blue Mountains in Autumn, we finally decided on Savoy after checking out many other places. There were tables inside and outside but as it was quite cold we wanted inside seats but it was quite packed inside. There was only 2 waitresses but I think they were doing a good job looking after a packed restaurant. Well I couldn’t complain too much as the place was busy but the waitresses were slow to look after a line of people waiting to get tables as some were not cleaned yet and they didn’t tell us that we could sit anywhere we wanted. The atmosphere was quite good, with dim lighting and the décor had a warm feeling to it. We ordered the kangaroo saltimbocca and a 300 gram steak which I forgot what kind but both came out in a reasonable time and the food tasted great. The price we paid was ok, not too expensive but not too cheap, it was quite good for the food we had. I think Savoy is a good place to go to if you need to find a place for dinner but many other places around have similar menus, so I guess it’s up to you to decide what kind of food you want to eat.

Great beakfast, coffee and tea are slow to arrive. Pity they use cheap bread with their breakfasts.
