We had manpuku on 2 days ago. Off all the hype and buzz about ramen ramen ramen in cbd, so far i found most of them didnt lived up to the rumor. I wasnt extremely excited when i entered manpuku so i forgot to checkin. It was a great hello for us. I thought it would be another boring ramen place, but hey, this one is very different. They serve chicken and pork broth based soup. But the key is their tonkotsu based ramen. I ordered black garlick MANPUKU2, it comes with soft bone pork. It is just delicious, for you ramen lover can dump other places and try this one. It lived up to the name. They are generous in portion and great value for money.(5 stars). The other dish we had was a simple tonkotsu based dipping noodle soup, it is also very tasty and again comes with the soft bone pork(4 stars). We didnt get to try other because we can hardly breath after finished the noodle. Oh yes PS: they use organic free range eggs. It just made it taste better. Problem? I think they only take cash. :) Goodluck Manpuku

Happy belly… ive eaten here a few times and really loved this place. We needed a little extra help with the menu this time. I got the traditional chicken ramen broth it was excellent, flavourful and tastey and hit the right spot for me. The manager gave my other half some extra veggies as he went pork free with his dish. The manager spent extra time with us and going through the menu and completely nailed our tastes to recommendations. Some of the best service we’ve received in a long time, we’ll be back.

The soups might be a bit too salty, still the tastes are good. Truth to be told I really enjoy the flavour, after having tried a lot of other ramens. On the other hand the karage is sort of disappointing, too greasy and lack of balance between crispy and overdone. Given the fact that it cost less than 20 for a meal, I would definitely visit again.

I am always a fan for Japanese noodle. I ordered number 3& I quite like it, except the soup is a little bit too salty for me. But after all, the friendly staff, the nice interior design, the Japanese way of welcoming the customers & the most important, the taste of the noodles, all left good impression~ Will come again~

Unbelievably good ramen at student prices. Clean bathroom, which must be unique in this Asian-food ghetto, and really attentive service. We were offered juice and cold water the time we went when there was a wait. REALLY good — even our Japanese aupair gave it a thumbs up!

I like the #7(mix both pork and chicken broth). So flavorful! The #2 salt base chicken broth is also very good!!! It’s clear broth with strong chicken flavor. Feel like eating in Japan, especially with the staff greeting with with«welcome» and bye with«Thank you» in Japanese. I also like the big menu with picture and good description of each item. I also like the«today special item»! The fish broth is very special! The chicken wing gyoza is a «must order item»!! There are many Japanese drink to choose from, love it! Feel lucky to have such a good ramen in Sydney.

This place is like a Michael Bay blockbuster, all looks but no substance. The place is new, it looks fancy, the service is pleasant, and the food looks really good… but it fails to deliver and it’s pretty underwhelming. For $ 13.90 a bowl a ramen, I’d expect it to have more than one piece of chashu… and a hot piece not a cold piece. It’s $ 3.80 for 3 more pieces of chashu, meaning ~$ 18 for a bowl of ramen for 4 pieces of chashu. It would be a fair price if it were say Ippudo, but this place isn’t even close. On top of that the egg was way overcooked. Meh. Manpuku takes a page out of Ramen Zundo’s book and offers a Red(chili) and Black(soy) ramen and they also use bean sprouts and cabbage. Not necessarily bad, just different. The best part of the dish were the noodles since they’re al dente… but overcooked egg, cold chashu, and a tepid broth make this place one I don’t plan on frequenting again.

It’s a rare thing in Kingsford for a new store to open that isn’t peddling frozen yoghurt — and Manpuku is such a place! I’ll be blunt from the beginning — I really love this place! I’ve only been there twice, but, to clarify, I’ve been there twice in as many days. More to the point, this place marks my triumphant return to Unilocal because I feel it is my duty to tell people how much I enjoy it! Perhaps, what I love most about Manpuku is the young, kitsch, trendy vibe it’s got going. All the bubbly staff great you enthusiastically at the door as you enter, and farewell you with a forlorn smile as you depart. Personally, I find these little touches simply endearing. The food itself is delicious. Perhaps, ideally there would be slightly more range, however, everything on the menu that I’ve tasted(thus far) has been superb. There is a lot of food to be had in the Kingsford area, and believe me when I say i’ve been around, however, Manpuku is now a personal favorite. The staff and the product is simply top-notch, and you can’t ask for anything more then that.

Knowing that it is a newly opened ramen restaurant in this area, we went there at 11.50am(10 mins before it opens) and were able to witness the«staff meeting» where the employees cheered on each other which was interesting. The menu selection is not great, but I guess it makes sense for a small restaurant. The ramen stock has intense pork flavor and the ramen is pretty good. Not sure if its worth $ 13-$ 15.

Mapuku just opened last week, bringing high quality ramen within 10 minutes walk of UNSW. There goes my waistline :( There are some teething problems with opening on time and the like, but the goods are worth waiting for. And wait you will if you’re not in line by 12 for the lunch rush, there has been a consistent line of people waiting for people to finish shortly after opening. The actual ramen though is top notch. The stock has an intense pork flavour, similar to Gumshara in Chinatown(my pick for best ramen in Sydney). You can get regular Tonkotsu, chili, garlic, and salt versions, or a few chicken-based stocks. For toppings it depends on the style but you’ll get an egg, mushroom, shallot, and one slice of chashu pork plus a vegetable or two. The chashu tastes good, but there’s not much meat there. The noodles are tasty and filling though, and the stock is thick enough that you’ll get a decent feed for the $ 13 – 15 you pay for a regular ramen. I’d rate this as the 3rd or 4th best ramen in Sydney(After gumshara, ippudo, and maybe Ryo’s). the price is good, and the taste is genuine. hot tip: Turn up 10 minutes before lunch not just to get a seat but so you can view the preshow cheering session, you won’t see anything more Japanese in Sydney!
