Great Fillo food and authentic flavours. Best Fillo restaurant I’ve been to in Sydney. Highly recommend the boneless bangus, sizzling bistek and halo halo. Only item i’d like to see on the menu is caldareta. Great for big groups and couples. Will definately be back.

Upon arriving, we were given a complimentary bowl of nuts. These nuts come with deep fried bits of garlic and lots of salt, yum.(You can buy these for $ 7 at the counter.) We ordered: — chicharon bituka — deep fried intestines. This is really bad for you but it’s just so yummy! — crispy pata — fried pork belly. Literally, «crispy thighs.» This was pretty good. — dinuguan — pork simmered in pig blood and other spices. This was good, but it became cold a bit quickly — maybe it wasn’t super hot when it arrived?(I was initially focused on the crispy pata.) — turon — deep fried banana in a spring roll wrapper dusted with sugar. Now, this was bad. The banana was too hard(this is G rated, folks) and for $ 7 for a plate of 3 it was too expensive for what we got. My friend and I got 1.5 each and after eating half of one my friend decided not to have the rest of hers. The waitress was nice but she didn’t really care… It was 1PM on Saturday, there was only a couple other table and maybe one or two people waiting for takeaway. She basically stayed in the kitchen instead of checking whether we needed anything else. It was impossible to get her attention unless she came out and served food, and even then she wouldn’t bother looking around if anyone else needed help(she’d serve the food, then duck back into the kitchen.) All in all it’s a decent place to get Filipino food. Food would’ve been rated a 4 if only we didn’t get the turon. Don’t expect too much from the service and stay away from the turon.

We ate here years ago when it was called Bahay Kubo and had a terrible experience. I will never forget the pancit malabon that my husband ordered in which they used spaghetti noodles. It was just so wrong. Coming back here, we had low expectations thinking it would be the same restaurant from our last, and so far, only visit. We were pleasantly surprised that the food quality is better than what we remembered. We ordered kare-kare and sizzling beef sisig. The kare-kare used oxtail as the meat so you know effort was made to make it as authentic as possible. The beef sisig was crispy and tasty even without Knorr seasoning and the serving was substantial. I ended up ordering two glasses of sago gulaman. I heard a lady from another table comment that it was too sweet, and my husband agreed with the lady, but it was perfect for me. The sweeter the better. A group of three Asian guys came in and I’m glad to see non-Filos eat here. There is a small platform where I guess you go up to sing karaōke, and they have a TV showing TFC. I’m happy that we came back here again as we now have an option for good Filipino food when we’re too lazy to cook it ourselves at home.
