Being housed at the Meriton across the street for an extended stay in Sydney, it is very nice to have the mall right across the street. So many choices of where to eat, but this is your best choice for a comfortable, modern, lovely little café on the 4th floor. The food is so good. The Loft Café Chicken Salad is so good and a very good portion. Both my husband and I had it and it was freshly cooked chicken on a bed of rocket with olives, walnuts and cheese and what I can only assume was a home made balsamic dressing. So good that I have gone back a second time in less than a week! I have no doubt over the next 4 weeks of my stay I will be back.

I have now been to this café twice, and while my first experience focused on their nice range of cakes(removing some of the focus from their coffee), this last time my lack of cake made me in turn focus on the coffee. Putting my day into context first, I have had some exceptionally bad coffee today, and so these guys and a very low bar to get over. Long story short, the sun was out, the crème was the right colour, there was not too much milk, and while I was not blown away with the coffee, it certainly was the best on offer in walking distance(and I had been walking pretty far). With heaps of tables inside and out, you are bound to get a seat, and having the sunlight above you on a good day, or watching the rain come down on a bad each have their own attraction. If you are in the area and in need of a coffee, these guys can be trusted to fix you up. With very few options in the North by the house, I’m pretty creative when it comes to places to eat, meet and have a cup of coffee. Now the mall isn’t always the ideal place and there aren’t very many healthy, tasty choices when it comes to food at Macquarie Shopping Centre, but an alternative that does the job when I need it is the Loft Café. The pasta is usually tasty and not too saucy, the sandwiches and wraps are a good size meal and the coffee is always pretty reliable. What I found is that it is a great place to meet and talk, not a breakfast or lunch destination. The staff is friendly and efficient and there’s lots of seating so I can always get a spot to chat without having to worry about too many people listening in on our conversation… not that I have anything to hide ;).
