The first meal we had when arriving in Melbourne. Everything was mouth watering. I love their cheesy takoyaki the best. Curry udon was perfect for the cold weather accompanied by spicy pork belly and the okomomiyaki was a generous amount. The staffs were very accommodating, cheeful and delivered quick service. We will be back!

No obvious signs or bright lights. Sitting near the corner of Waverley and Warrigul Road, boy am I glad to have stumbled upon this place. With both indoor and outdoor seating, this small restaurant welcomes people of all sorts and has Japanese beer on tap! Wooden chairs and tables with menus on wooden boards, Café Carpenter combines Japanese and Korean flavours and does it well! I have found a quiet hideaway near home!

I love this place. The proprietor is friendly and adorable and plays kick ass music. He also has an amazing collection of bandanas. The food is delicious, reasonably priced and presented with care and charm. Hot beverages are served with a Hershey’s kiss :) and my hot chocolate had real chocolate shavings(oh so much chocolate arghrlllllllll drool). The décor is mostly unfinished wood which adds to the simple and clean atmosphere. It isn’t a very big which makes me think this would be a great date spot, but I’ve only been for lunch. There is an expansive menu through and I look forward to working my way through it.
