Perfect name for this shop really … ‘cos dripping wet is exactly what you CAN be when you shuffle over the road from the beach in your flip-flops to ponder which piece of surf paraphernalia you might need next. It’s sort of an extension of the sand, really — a bit like those bucket and spade stalls you see in old British movies. We’re not exactly surf devotees, but Dripping Wet caters to the masses too — we rented a board for the summer, paying in advance for a certain number of hours, but leaving it there so that we had access to it whenever we got to the beach without having to cart it on and off the car. This flexible arrangement means you can upgrade if you hone your skills a little(ok, so we’re not there yet), share the committed hours between adult and child boards, or even take out more than one board at once. In store has retail too — a few small rails of swimwear for both sexes and a multitude of wetsuits and steamers, hats and rashies. You can get your board waxed, or even trade it in if you’re ready for an upgrade.
