The skatepark is located on the Maroubra beachfront and its always tempted me to try it out every time I visit the beach. One weekend, I borrowed a friends skateboard and decided to give it a shot. Let me warn you, If you love skating, stop reading now. I have never skated before, so what you’re going to read may upset you. I hated skate boarding. There is just something unnerving about not having your feet on the ground. The kids make it look so easy, but for the first 15 minutes that I tried(yeah, a full 15 minutes I struggled, I wanted to give it a fair shot), I could only stand up for about 2 – 3 seconds each before rolling off. And the pain, my ego is still bruised. Clearly the skate park is for more professional skaters and not a beginner skate park. You have kids flying all around and performing these really cool tricks and showing off their skills. Show-offs! Pfft. Trust me, skate boarding is hard. I shall stick to ice skating for now.

The number one skate park for people in the 2035 – 2036 postcodal areas of the Eastern Suburbs. The most local anyway! Right down on the beach, this park is free and open 24-hours for skaters and bikers alike to have some fun on the slopes, ramps and rails they’ve incorporated into the concrete playground. There is a large swimming pool style bowl with 2 different depths(a deep end and a shallow end), half pipes and rails, and about 1100 square metres of space to share it with the other skaters and riders. At any time of the day, any day of the week, especially on the weekends, Maroubra Skate Park is packed with regaular skaters and bikers who like to show off their stunts, practice their game and test out their gear. Over-looking the gorgeous Maroubra Beach, you can hit up the skate park and then dive into the surf to cool off afterwards!
