This is a very good Singapore Airlines Lounge. It doesn’t get too full, it fills up, but I’ve always found a seat. The view is really nice, if you like airport operations. And the food selection is always very good as well. Amazingly I find SQ lounges outside of Singapore to be better than back at Changi. One small complaint is that they only have local AU electrical plugs, it would be nice to have the multi-national plugs in such a lounge, or at the very least some Singaporean style plugs. Also, I have not found the built in USB plugs to work for charging my phone.

When you fly a Star Alliance carrier out of Sydney you have two choices: Air New Zealand’s lounge or the Singapore Airlines one. I used to use the Air NZ one which was spacious, but at times very crowded and the food was not that great, but not bad either. The Air NZ lounge is now being renovated, leaving a temporary lounge in the basement to use. I did and did not like it at all. Fortunately, the Silverkris lounge is the alternative. Very good lounge! Excellent food and at time of my travel plenty of space. Very friendly staff to serve drinks and food if desired. At least until Air NZ shows off their new lounge later this year, this is my preferred choice for traveling out of Sydney! Check it out, fellow United Airlines flyers.

It’s hard not to love Singapore Airlines, but when they go ahead and provide such a great lounge service like this… well, you pretty much have to pledge your allegiance, right?(well for Singapore flights anyway!) What a treat to be kindly welcomed here by calm and friendly staff who genuinely want to provide you with an experience that is relaxing before a large international flight. Nothing seems to be too much trouble. My mineral water glass was picked up from my table and then I was offered more(«or perhaps some Champagne madame?»). The food selection diverse. There’s small plates of around 10 different items from beef rendang to mini brioche burger. They are replenished with new dishes as soon as they get a little empty, and in the two hours I was there I saw a vast array of items coming and going from the display that would keep every picky food eater or food intolerant person happy. I settled on a big plate of salad, stir fried vegetables, rice, rendang and some steamed fish. Lovely. The nicest touch? When my flight was called, a number of us got up to leave and staff stood by the door saying goodbye and wishing us a nice flight. Singapore Airlines get all the little details right, even the parts when you’re not even in the air!

One of the best lounges I’ve ever been to, and I’ve been to a lot of lounges. On the way into Australia, I stopped at the Air New Zealand Lounge. It’s nice, and much bigger than the Silver Kris Lounge, but not as good. The food in the Silver Kris Lounge is amazing, and I uploaded a ton of pics to try to illustrate. I ate more than a full meal here, which I rarely do in a lounge. Everything was delicious, and the service was super attentive. About the only negative is that there is only one shower, so Air New Zealand has the lead there.

Even if you have only 10 minutes before the gate closes, you cannot miss out on Sydney’s Silver Kris lounge if you have the proper access. All I have to compare to at SYD is the Air New Zealand lounge, which is like a McDonalds compared to this place. Just like their lounges in San Francisco, Amsterdam, or Singapore, this one exemplifies excellence in the pre-flight experience. Upon entrance, you are greeted by fresh flowers, a beautiful model of Singapore’s A380, and warm, friendly staff. Once inside, you may find it a bit crowded, but there’s still plenty of space to sit. It’s a welcoming environment with plenty of window space for aviation enthusiasts to get a glimpse of the ramp. What really stands out here and what I think is the most vital part of a lounge is their food selection. In the morning, you’ll find a plethora of mini sandwiches, unique breakfast creations, yogurt, desserts, and fresh fruit. In the afternoon, you’ll be greeted with warm lunch-time snacks such as a vast selection of dim sum. Almost everything they offer tastes fresh, wonderfully prepared, and makes me oh so happy to escape the torture of Air New Zealand lounge’s excuse for food. You’ll also find a good selection of liquor, champagne, Australia and international beer and wine, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and juices. Pretty much anything you can think of that’s widely available with a few unique items, such as Tasmanian beer. Upon exit, you’ll be warmly escorted out by the famous Singapore girl. It’s the almost perfect way to end your experience here. I say almost because perfection would be achieved if she wasn’t a cardboard figure.
