McDowall Quality Meats is an independently owned, family run butcher in the northern suburbs. They’re extremely cheap, and pride themselves on selling local meats. They’ve got celebratory signage and flashy highlighting over the meats which are from Kilcoy (4 hours away). This was the first thing to get my vote. If you’re looking for something a little more unique, they offer a mean cranberry/​apple/​pistachio pork mini roast for $ 16.99. The macadamia satay chicken wings for $ 3.99 also get the tick of approval. The service is very laid back and friendly, and it’s just one of those places where you really get a kick out of supporting a local family that supports local industry.
