Colorful, big portions; fresh, deep flavours. If that’s your speed you’ll love Moorish Blue. Highlights were the lamb tagine, blackened barramundi and beetroot and goats cheese salad. Sit in the courtyard out the back and chillax. The staff are so friendly you know they love working there, that’s a good sign!

Moorish Blue is a little gem nested in a cute north Sydney street. The restaurant is huge with several different rooms with different ambiance — little terrasse at the front of the restaurant — blue room with a large table for ca 15 people with lots a mirrors, cushions,… making you feel like in a riyadh — main dining area with high ceilings, large windows, light and airy — the oasis garden at the back with 2 big palm trees and making you feel you are in Marrakech … The owner is Tunisian and very friendly. The service was perfect throughout. The food is very fresh and tasy — a few dishes are a bit spicy but I love it ! I went there with 6 friends for a birthday dinner and we order many things o share. The highlight were: — cod croquettes — bricka — sweet potatoe fries — lamb tajin — Beetroot salad with goat cheese — I did not like the eggplant dish — delicious desert platter(rose panna cotta, and other usual sweets) This place really feels outside of time ! I highly recommend it for a special evening with friends — and it is really good value to ! I had been there for Brunch as well, there shashuka is delicious as well as lamb salad, but I think the atmosphere is even nicer in the evening … A great place to try :-)

On the recommendation of friends we decided to give this place in Lavender Bay a whirl. Glad we did! As walk ins we weren’t sure how we would go but the friendly and cheeky waiter managed to find us a spot for two. The interior is nicely fitted out with indoor and outdoor options and a room for about 12 – 14 people off to one side. The menu is short but sumptuous with three size offerings — small entrée size, middle for maybe sharing and mains or share plates. Wine list likewise short but some very well priced and great wines to be had. After some deliberations I selected Royale lamb and she mutton backstrap — not something you see every day. Ambience is good and the waiter managed to sell me more beers than I should have had, really. Lucky I had a driver :-) Food was great — my lamb was lamb, chicken and merguez(?) sausage on rice, very tasty and meaty although more lamb would have been good. Her mutton was very well cooked and tasty although of course a lot stronger than lamb, but I liked it! And so did she, mainly. All in all a good night, cheeky waiters were fun and food was good. Recommended!
