Grabbed a quick breakfast here. Got the eggs on toast and some bacon. What you’d expect. Good service, reasonable prices, nice location.

The best thing about this place is the location, just outside the CH2 Building on Little Collins Street, and it offers a great view of all the strangeness that tends to happen along Swanston Street. Okay, I must admit that the breakfast was a little ordinary(and they don’t start serving until 8:00 am), and the tea is okay, but not the best, but what makes up for that fact(and also that the staff generally aren’t the best) is the great view of Collins Street. Mind you, it also double’s as a bar, so you can come here for afterwork drinks, or even an evening drinking session, which probably throws up much more of the strangeness that happens on Swanston Street. Hey, I do pop in here for a morning tea occasionally, but it is not on the top of places to go.

It’s a 24 hr café open in the middle of the city! Which is always great to have. Unfortunately the coffee does not live up to Melbourne expectation! I am yet to have a decent coffee here! However my drink of choice from Here is green tea latte! yummmm! Absolutely love it. This is something they have done right and it’s great! I would like to see a bigger range in sweets and food, and a big change in their coffee! However when you need a nice cuppa at 3 am in the morning then they will be there for you! But my recommendation is grab a green tea latte, you’ll love yourself for it!

I had the fruit salad, which was very refreshing since it was hot. My boyfriend had the eggs benedict which he liked, but my dad’s l’incontro chicken burger was dry, rubbery, and lacking flavor. His shoestring fries were a plus though.

Café L-Incontro is very conveniently located on Swanston Street and, the fact that it’s open late makes it very popular for persons looking for a place to chill and have a cuppa after dinner, movie or day out and abouts. It is also well loved by RMIT students due to its close proximity to the uni. I’ve walked past this place so very often and decided to give it a shot this arvo. It’s alright but not that great really. My flat white was quite ordinary. Look, if you work close by and are looking for a spot to hang out then, by all means, give it a try but you can definitely find better.

As they state on their Facebook page, Café L’Incontro is no ordinary café. It’s big selling point is that it is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Here’s my little shout out to folks who like to go out and stay out late — we’ve got to show our support to places like this that will welcome us any time of the day or night and will give us food and drink for a bit of money. That’s a brilliant service that they’re providing and I for one want Melbourne to be a 24 hour city so I don’t mind turning up here once in awhile and ordering a little something. No, it’s not the best coffee around, but most likely you won’t get your best coffee at 4am because they’ll be safely tucked up in bed and won’t want to serve you. You know who will want to serve you? You knows it.

There’s always a reason to go here. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that you go to Café L’incontro for the service, or for the quality of their coffee — neither’s irreedeemable, but they’re not anything to write home about. But when it’s three on a Saturday morning and you don’t want to go home, there’s a Melbourne spring storm brewing and you need to get out of the rain… then there’s nothing better than sitting under the umbrellas at L’incontro with a coffee in hand, watching the rain pour down and hearing the thunder crack over the city, They’re open twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, and while their coffee isn’t amazing, it doesn’t get any worse when it’s four in the morning.

If you’re meeting somebody in the city Café L’Incontro is as good as anywhere to catch up for a coffee. This prime location is close to Flinders Street Station and almost smack bang in the middle of the city grid, the coffee here is great and the whole place is clean, bright and generally well-presented. The outdoor seating area gets quite busy during lunchtime midweek and is a great spot to watch the hustle and bustle of Swanston St. The staff are friendly and while I didn’t try the food it looks delicious. Not the cheapest place in town but come summertime when the weather’s fine the outdoor seating will be highly sought after.

Café L’Incontro adds a touch of Vienna like charm to the east side of Swanston st. Located in close proximity to the Melbourne Town Hall, the café is covered in Bluestone and before the huge developments behind it in Little Collins street was the most eye-catching, classy and impressive building on the block. The development has dwarfed L’Incontro’s street appeal slightly but the splendour of the building remains. The balcony style alfresco dining area is set back from the street a bit, allowing you box seats of the city action. You’ll find cheaper café food close by but it won’t be as good, and you won’t get to experience a little bit of Italy in central Melbs! The foccaccia’s are to die for, choose from the menu or create your own. I just love the Mediterranean foccaccia. My place of choice when I feel like adding a touch of European class to my lunch, brunch or coffee break.
