I took my mimco bag here to have the cross body strap repaired when one of the clasps broke. The staff member was very friendly and the repair took a little over a week; however, I was charged $ 65 up front and expected a replacement clasp for this price. When I collected my bag, the clasp had just been forced back together and is now covered with deep scratches. When I showed the staff member, she was again very polite and apologetic, and immediately gave me a $ 30 refund. However, I feel that $ 35 is still overpriced for the quality of work. I would have had a better result if if taken it to a shoe repairer instead.

If you have a luxury bag and are smart, you’ll read the lion’s share of reviews online and boycott MyBagSpa by a mile(the ones on Vogue’s forum are particularly enlightening). Not only are their prices exorbitant(they quoted $ 400 plus for a ‘clean’ of my Celine bag), but they sub-contract their repairs out(my handle repair was done rather shoddily), and like me you might just end up with strangers’ possessions in your bag(how did two different Myki cards and a dirty earring end up in the hidden compartment of my Celine, I wonder, if attention was only paid to the handle?) Add to that being texted to come and pick up my bag when it hadn’t even been touched(after more than a week) and rude customer service = 100% fail!

Last year I purchased a second hand Chanel bag off eBay. Having never owned on authentic bag Chanel bag before, I took it with me everywhere. A year and a half later, the bag has ample scuffs, discolouration and pen marks inside the bag. Yes I did use the bag a lot but having known how to better care for the bag, it would have been in better condition had I taken better care of it. Unfortunately Chanel Australia(unlike Chanel in the US), does not clean your bag for free or at a price. Having done my research, I had found out that while Chanel in New York will clean your bag for free, Chanel in Sydney want to hear nothing of it. That is when I found MyBagSpa. They have an online site which is how I located the business. As a resident in Sydney, I could send my bag to Melbourne and have it restored for a fee. They have plenty of samples and videos on their website to give customers piece of mind and the different of before and after photos is simply amazing! They also buy designer bags if you wish to sell yours and upgrade to something else.

If like me, you’re willing to spend a little extra and invest in high-end bags, shoes and other such accessories you’ll understand what I mean about the importance of caring for them. MyBagSpa is just like it sounds — it’s quite literally a day spa for your bags, shoes and similar pieces. They can work wonders on your beauties — re-dying, cleaning and restoring, for a fraction of the original cost they can make them look(and often smell!) like new all over again. Additionally, if you want something about an old favourite altered they can make this happen too — for example, a strap shortened, hardware changed over or a buckle replaced. I’ve never seen them do a bad job, and they can be completely trusted with everything from a market find through to Chanel.
