I often buy cheese, milk and frozen food from here(much cheaper than IGA next door). The lollies, soda, canned goods etc are all very inexpensive and there are even beer/wines on special. I bought a lot of lollies for my upcoming baby shower at a very reasonable price and no one would know that they’re from here and not Coles/Woolies or wherever.

I absolutely love those situations in life from which everyone can benefit. And NQR Grocery Clearance Store is certainly an example of this. Selling a range of discontinued and excess stock left over from supermarket chains at much lower prices, shopping here means you save big time on your food bill while taking stock off the hands of those who can’t sell it otherwise — at least that is the general gist of the situation. NQR certainly isn’t a pretty store and you are definitely not going to be able to buy all of your groceries here — at least not if you eat any kind of quality fresh produce. But as far as buying a great deal of packaged goods you really can’t go wrong going to NQR. They also sell a range wine, which is mostly pretty crap but there is nothing wrong with buying a cheap drop for some kalimoxto or sangia. So I say that it would be Not Quite Right for you NOT to shop here from time to time.

Sure, Not Quite Right isn’t the ritziest place you could buy your groceries from. But it is cheap and the deals many. If you’re coming in for frozen food or snacks, it’s a pretty good place to get what you need and there’s a chilled section with all the milks etc. You won’t get the same service as you do at the big supermarket chains but you will get a good deal on stock. Or if you’re interested in saving a few dollars, take your shopping list here before you take it to your regular supermarket. They won’t have everything but they will have some, and you may as well buy it at marked down prices.

I’d never encountered a grocery clearance store before I came to Melbourne and happened upon NQR quite by accident. A decidedly dodgy looking shop on Northcote’s High Street near Separation Street, NQR Grocery Clearance does what it says on the awning, stocking a huge variety of food from the budget to the gourmet at discount prices. Offering savings of up to 80% on stock largely comprising excess stock and discontinued lines and sourced from supermarkets and the like, NQR is actually a brilliant place to shop for store cupboard basics such as rice, tinned goods and more for exceedingly low prices. NQR’s wine selection is also surprisingly good. With prices as low as $ 5 for a halfway decent bottle of vino. Just make sure you check best before dates carefully and approach perishables such as dairy and fresh pastas with caution. These sometimes have best before dates that are mere days away so it’s best to visit NQR with a keen eye and a realistic time frame for ingestion Otherwise… great!
