I might be a bit biased here but here goes. As a student of the University of Melbourne, I usually carry out my studying or group meeting sessions here at the Law building of which this little café conveniently locates itself. I am a fan for their coffee here. Most days they are pretty consistent but I’ve experienced once on a very rare occasion that my flat white was drowned with milk. The service here can be slow during peak hours(morning and lunch time) but I like to look at it as a test of my patience. I’ve couldn’t say much of their food because I’ve never gotten to try many. I once had a lemon slice and it was amazing! The croissants were pretty standard too. The best bit about this café is their song choices but they don’t have it on all day. I would definitely come back again and if you are ever in Melbourne University for a visit, pop by this little store and try them out!

Porta Via is a decent little café and one of my staples when in the area. They make a pretty good coffee consistently here. It’s set up is more of a take away style with not many seats, but that’s ok in my book. Service can sometimes be slow, but is always friendly and they have a decent range of wraps, sandwiches and soft drinks. They also sell packs of nuts and seeds and healthy cereal bars for the health conscious among us. Located in Uni Square near the law building. Porta Via caters mainly for the uni crowd as well as the charity sector workers that work nearby, so they are open weekdays at around 7.30 /8 and close about 5. Why I like this place is because of its convenience. Location is good and they also have EFTPOS with no minimum which is great if you forget your change. The prices aren’t bad either. Coffee starts at $ 3.60 with medium size drinks(which are really quite large) just over $ 4. Porta Via is a solid dependable café. Try it out if you are in the area.

Fantastic coffees, very nice sandos and a good location near Melbourne Business School and the Laws building. The vegetarian options are very good and seriously, the sandos are so big they have me covered for lunch and dinner, or lunch the next day for the other half– which is good value. Sometimes the service is a bit slow, but the staff are really nice. My only complaint is that they’re usually not open until 5pm(although their sign says that) as I would love to grab a coffee before evening classes at uni! Seriously, I would be a regular 5:15 customer along with my other cohort members. Masters students are ALL caffeine powered!
