Everyone told me that i really have to try the pork belly, if thats the only thing i order here. I must say it was pretty good but like all of the other dishes that we ordered it was overly tasty aka salty. All four of us agreed that the main dishes were tasty and were meant to be taken with either rice or bread. Overall good ambiance and food was fairly good. Price is a bit on the higher end for Asian fusion.

Asian fusion here is delicious!!! Mouth watering goodness. Loving the fresh salads and the juicy braised pork. Just in love with this place. Place is quiet spacy and the staff are all lovely. Highly recommended for dinner and large group gatherings

Would not recommend this for couples as a dinner option. We came with high expectations and while the atmosphere was great, the food was just too heavy and the portions too large. We ordered the twice cooked ribs for entrée which was probably the highlight, large meaty fall off the bone but crispy on the outside goodness. We then attempted to share the tea leaf salad and pork belly. The salad was not as light as expected given the name and description, and the pork belly was just way too sweet. Maybe as a group it would have been better but make sure to under order and steer clear of the belly…

Great food, wine and vibe. The Soft Shell Crab and Pork Belly dishes were a stand-out!

Red Spice Road was delicious, and is one of those places where you can come with a group and try a bunch of things if you’re willing to commit to small plates and sharing. Particularly the squid, the corn/onion fritters, the ox cheek, and the pork belly were awesome. The vibe here is a little trendy, and it’s a little dark and loud if you’re trying to have detailed conversations, but otherwise it’s a great spot to check out. Excellent dining experience. Superb food. The lamb ribs and Penang curry are to die for. Service was very good as well. Highly recomended. Ecpensive, but worth it. Most dishes are big enough to share.

I’ve been to this establishment twice. The first time was unforgettable for all the right reasons. It was busy, loud and dark with community seating options or an intimate setting but it was fun, had a great atmosphere and the staff were friendly. However, on our second trip here we booked a table for 4 and two people had to cancel but we decided to go with just the two of us regardless. We were given a table out in the cold, barely protected courtyard amongst the smokers, our drinks came out with our entrees and our main followed shortly thereafter. Dessert was practically served on top of our mains and we didn’t get a chance to order a second round of drinks due to the waiting staff never showing up. I think through three courses we were there for no more than 50 minutes. They made it clear they didn’t want out money or custom that night. All I’d suggest is popping in for the pork belly, which was one of the best I’ve had, then heading to McDonald’s for better service.

Red Spice Road is one of my favourite restaurants in Melbourne. I have been a few times and each time has been absolutely devine. Lunch or dinner it does not matter. The pork belly is the highlight dish. I wish I could bottle the sauce.

The seating arrangement SUCKS big time! Whoever designed this place should be ashamed of themselves! And the acoustics is just appalling! Not impressed with the food either, Longrain is so much better!

Pork Belly, Pork Belly, Pork Belly. Did I mention the Pork Belly? Red Spice Road is Asian Fusion at it’s best. Whenever I think of this place the first thing I think about is, yes you’ve guessed it Pork Belly. It’s just so good. Every time I go there I have to order it. Sure this place is quite pricey, but it’s worth it. If you are looking for a real treat you need to try this place out. If the main menu is too hard on the wallet, they also offer cheaper alternative menus than the standard banquets. Red Spice Road is open for lunch and dinner. Menus on offer include the dinner banquet, as well as the express early bird banquets, a la carte and happy hour menus. Most recently when i visited we tried the express banquet and were not disappointed. In fact we went away stuffed and really satisfied. During the three times I have gone here, I have tried the chicken wings with chilli sauce, beef massaman curry, chicken with ginger, prawn salad, and of course the pork belly to name a few. Usually I am way too full for dessert, but when I have taken it to the next level, I have tried Passionfruit Cream with Basil Seeds, Coco De Nata, Lychee and Coconut Ice Cream. All the food here is really good. They also have a great wine list too, which is pricey, but well worth splurging on. If you haven’t tried Red Spice Road you really should. Prefect for a group meal or romantic dinner. Either way, just get here.

Décor very nice. Love the community tables. Good for meetings with out of towners for business. Food is average tasting and overpriced for the quality. I would not take friends or family who have had really great asian food but would bring workmates here if they ‘felt like asian’ for lunch.

I’m not going to lie. THAT pork belly really is worth all the hype. So much so, that next time I go(because I will go back) I might just order 10 plates of that. Oh yes. I love a bargain so was more than happy to go along for their express dinner banquet. Order by 6pm, leave by 7pm and you can order the appetiser and 3 mains with rice for $ 28. It really is excellent value and saves you around $ 40 a head. Our carafe of wine was more than the meal. The banquet was more than enough food for two of us. We didn’t finish all the dishes(except for that pork belly!) and there was no room for dessert. If you were feeling hungry and had more than two people I would go for the 5 main dishes which still only comes to about $ 34 per head. Menu says you need to have a minimum of 4 people to upgrade but we were offered all five regardless. Interesting to note some other reviewers felt they were part of a production line and were rushed out the door. We experienced the exact opposite. The wait staff were friendly, helpful and relaxed. It may have been because it was a fairly quiet Monday night but we thoroughly enjoyed our meal there.

Scrumptious and tasty, we went way overboard and ordered way too much! It is a good place to share dishes and the Thai food is full of flavour and fusion dishes are very creative. My favorite dish was the pork belly with apple slaw, chilli caramel and black vinegar. Next favorites: crispy duck, beef cheeks and lamb ribs. One thing I found odd was the artwork of nude ladies staring at me in the face while I ate… interesting décor and a bit out of place. I would go back for the food though service was a bit slow when I visited and it is on the pricier side.

Pork Belly — the best in Melbourne. I have been going to RSR for a few years and never tire of the pork belly. Cocktail jugs are better value. Jungle or pumpkin curry always good. Lantern room has great atmosphere, cosy and better than the long table which is too far from your guests sitting opposite you. Great place for visitors from o/s — always impressed!

I have been here in the evening several times for a big group, but until coming for a small lunch I had no idea of the size or setup. Dining is en famile, or on large shared tables, made of a lovely coloured and textured smokey coloured timber. Service was efficient generally, willing to adapt as required o modify for our vegetarian colleague, although as it turns out no need. The lamb chili and salt ribs are simply stunning, and I could have eaten two plates of them myself. Sharing one between two did not sit well with me but the betel leaf and smoked chicken with prawn and other delights kinda made up for it. Kinda. Again, we ordered one each for the carnivores — could have definitely eaten them both. For the main we shared wok fried tofu tossed with mushrooms and greens and other luscious bits. It was enough for the three of us, but seriously, I could have guts the lot and still had desert! HIghly recommended.

My friends and I are big fans of Red Spice Road and have been to both of their locations. On this occasion we were catching up after not seeing each other for a few weeks and decided to go to one of our favourites. Unfortunately we made a mistake in not booking for the QV venue as this location is always busy and was difficult to get a booking. We were seated on one of the large tables and had to share with other groups. It’s an odd seating style and I was seated next to someone who didn’t know what personal space was. We were excited about the food as it’s always been great. The pork belly is always a hit and the other dishes we took recommendations from our waitress. They were average and we were a little disappointed as we normally get great recommendations. We’ll probably head back to the QV location next time as it’s a little more accessible and the noise level is quieter.

I went back and was charmed this time by the service. I had mistakenly booked lunch at the downtown restaurant instead of the QV one. This didn’t phase the staff. They set up a table for 10 in the private dining area and lunch was saved. A notable bonus is the level of effort put into dietary issues. They will give you a separate set of the dishes which cater to your needs, or to share with others like you on the table. There is always so much food left over, it’s a pity they don’t allow doggy bags.

This was my first visit ti Red Spice Road. I was part of a group so we had a selection from a set menu. Well all of the dishes were excellent. Service was a little hit and miss, but my water was always full and dishes didn’t hang around after they were finished with. Will go there again to try the fabled pork belly.

Pork belly. Eat now or die. You heard me. Don’t half step. Order pork belly and bask in the glory of all that is good and salty and fatty. (all drama aside, this is a great place to go with large groups. It has an open/airy feel. The service is great and the Eggplant dish is exceptionally tasty. Note that it is a bit spicy, but not too bad.)

The Oyster with Nuoc Cham Ban Cha is fantastic, over all too quickly but fantastic, perfectly shucked, great flavours, works brilliantly! The ‘Twice Cooked Lamb Ribs with Chilli Jam’ help with Hubby legendary New Year’s resolution to eat more ribs! They are an absolute favourite! Super succulent with a dry, spiciness to the outer and the meat is just falling from the bones… gorgeous… read more at my blog
