It’s all about the t-shirts here. Literally. That’s it. So if you need one, it’s a good idea to come here because they’ll have designs for pretty much any taste. Whether you’re a cool suburban kid or a cool city kid. T-Bar’s premise is a good one, they select artists to showcase every two weeks and they’ll whack their designs on T-shirts. This high rotation of stock means there’s always something in store. They’ve got some great designs and I’ve bought a fair few from these guys over the years. They’re also used to girls and boys swapping sides to check out the designs/cuts in the other gender’s respective areas. They know that some people like their shirts loose and other like them tight. The staff are friendly and it’s all pretty straight forward. All that matters is whether you like the designs or not.

T-Bar is all about bringing wicked designs to your attire. The shirts are quirky, colourful and(kind-of) one of kind. What i mean by one-of-a-kind is that most are limited designs that will only be printed for a limited time. This T-Bar is a small little glass-front space underneath the escalators in Melbourne Central. The glass-front allows you to look in without even well… stepping into the store. The Tee’s are more aimed toward the male demographic, but i’ve got a few girlfriends who buy small sized men’s tee’s that are still snug on them. One shirt will set you back $ 40, Two, $ 69 and Three, $ 99. Pretty good deal if you buy three! I’ve bought a few shirts from here, most have stayed intact however some have faded and become loose, but hey… what tee’s don’t after a while?!

If you are similarly like me and spill all sorts of stuff on your t-shirts, from spaghetti sauce to red wine, and generally dish out about as much rough treatment to your clothing as to your average football; then you will probably want to know about T-Bar. Here they sell a wide range of t-shirts for reasonably cheap and constantly changing designs. Look, I like t-shirts, and I hate the crap colours and designs you get at your average Kmart or Jay Jays, for example. Also as I said, they don’t tend to last long around me, so I don’t want to be paying the earth for them. They are just a t-shirt after all. This is why T-Bar is a great place to start looking for a t-shirt or three. In fact the price goes down the more you buy here. At $ 40 for one $ 69 for two and $ 99 for three you are encouraged to live the same kind careless clothing lifestyle I so thoroughly enjoy. They do change their stock constantly and have new styles of t0-shirts created by designers on a regular basis.

Boys t-shirts are infinitely more comfortable than girls, don’t ask me why, they just are. Unfortunately, they also have a habit of looking downright crappy on us girls. The solution? Melbourne Central’s T-Bar. A dedicated t-shirt shop selling a range of mens and womens tees in a plethora of colours and motifs and made out of some of the softest fabrics you’re likely to find. Having developed a bit of a penchant for one of my boyfriend’s T-Bar tees, I happily agreed to join him on a little excursion to their only Melbourne store, a modern, glass housed affair within Melbourne Central Station stocking a huge array of designs. And I’m impressed, very impressed. Ok, the tee obsessive minds behind T-Bar might erroneously argue that ‘the T-Shirt is the most dominant form of personal expression’ — mightier than the pen, really?! — but they know their tee stuff. Commissioning both Australian and international artists to design motifs to adorn T-Bar’s high quality t-shirts and selling them from their small chain of exclusively t-shirt selling stores across australia. Tees are $ 40 each, $ 69 for two or $ 99 for three and the dedicated girls section stocks some very lovely tees. That said, I left the store empty handed while my boyfriend bought four. But then, one of those almost certainly has my name on it.
