Service is always fantastic with a smile, staff are always polite! The coffee is always good. Food is great, my favourite are the nachos, they always have good specials.

My mum is pretty keen on this place and has been going there for years for a breakfast/lunch or just a coffee when she is in TTP. I had to buy some new work pants and asked if she would like to come to Westfield with me. She said that we could get dinner at 42nd street. I thought it was in the way to TTP but to my surprise it was a mall café. There’s nothing wrong with his place, but there’s also nothing great about it either. The décor is fairly hospital cafeteria or roadhouse looking and I couldn’t find anything interesting on the menu. No liquor license either(maybe because it’s in a mall?). I had a chicken parmigiana and the chicken was well cooked, but the sauce reminded me of parmies I have made when there’s almost nothing left in the house… Sweat off some onions, add can of chopped tomatoes and whack it on the schnitzel with some cheddar cheese. At least when I make it at home I try to spice it up a bit with some garlic, oregano, basil or even some chili in the sauce. Also, the parmigiana was quite small and the chips that came with it were nothing special at all. Below pub standard. The salad on the side was your typical pub salad. The kind most people skip as it’s an afterthought. Look, this place is probably good for their all day brekkie and wraps for lunch, and I understand that when you have 60+ items on your menu it must be a bit difficult, so I’m giving them 3 stars. I’m wondering if maybe I’m becoming a bit of a food snob, or maybe I’m just used to visiting businesses that have to try harder because they are competing with other great businesses nearby. Do cafes like this even need to exist? Are they relevant in the postmodern gourmet low food-mile burger, and organic toasted sourdough sandwich world of 2015 and beyond? I don’t think so; but in saying that, I might be back for a wrap or a coffee at some point in the future when I venture up to TTP for my 3 yearly trip there.

Popped in here to grab a quick bite to eat as I waited to have a passport interview next door at the post office. I was greeted by a friendly lady & shown to a table that accommodated my baby in the pram. There was a good selection of food on the menu & I was seen to in a timely manner to order. I was surprised they had table service being a café in a mall. I ordered a Thai chicken wrap. While I was waiting(all of 10 mins), I was asked if there was anything else I needed & the waitress smiled every time she walked past. The wrap was fresh & full of yummy flavors. It really hit the spot. I would definitely go back there

I’ve had lunch/brunch/afternoon tea at 42nd Street for years whilst shopping at Tea Tree Plaza. The owner is obviously passionate and is always there to greet you and seat you and ensure that you are waited on hand and foot — strange for a shopping complex café! However, he seems to do it to the peril of the staff — I often feel bad for them when they look to be doing the best they can be and then snapped at to serve me better. A smile to me, a slight snap at them and I’ve never liked that. The food is really tasty but usually really basic, which sometimes is the best thing. A lot of wraps, sandwiches, soups and salads. The Thai chicken salad and wrap is my favourite, but the price is getting so much higher, it’s hardly worth it anymore. I know people love this place and I have been there a lot. It does do gluten free foods well — but I think I’m done with this place!

42nd Street is located across from the Post Office inside Tea Tree Plaza Shopping Centre. I know… mall café. But if you can stand eating inside a place, which is inside another place(double indoors) this here café is a good choice. It’s a nostalgic diner type… they put an orange slice on your side salad for goodness sake! There’s a younger staff, and you can’t help thinking ‘this would be a fun place to work as a teenager.’ They’re dressed tidily in collared white shirts and do a fine job. Which is unexpected… under most circumstances teenagers + Westfield TTP go together like BP and water(from the perspective of a person outside of that age bracket). Have you been late night shopping at the Plaza. The menu is caulk full of crowd pleasers: sandwiches, burgers, all day breakfasts, etc. There’s a whole section dedicated to ‘Pavers’(open face melted cheese sandwiches). I ordered a Gourmet Paver. It was fantastic. All veg, with sun-dried tomatoes, pumpkin, avocado… and toasted beautifully. 42nd street came recommended to me by some Myer staff who’ve been going for yonks. They said it’s recently changed ownership. Living up to its expectations(charming service and wholesome food) it doesn’t seem like much else has changed. Solid meal option if you’re in the area.

Tea Tree Plaza features a lot of cafes and eateries, so to be one of the most popular you need to be pretty special. 42nd St Café IS pretty damned popular and with good reason. Upon entry you’re greeted warmly by the host on duty and are shown to a table if any are available. It’s not uncommon to see a small lineup in busier times, which speaks volumes, as these people could easily go to one of the other eateries nearby. Instead they choose to stay. The food is excellent though rather than keep with the menu, I suggest checking the specials board at the back of the café. The waitresses are really friendly and while there was a small error on my order, they picked it up before I did and the order was corrected. I can’t speak highly enough of this place. Not only is the food wonderful, but it’s nicely presented on the plate. I could go on, but really… just go there and see for yourself how great the 42nd St Café really is.

42nd Street is a small family friendly café, tucked away near a side entrance to Tea Tree Plaza(west side entrance, upper floor — park near Myer’s top entrance) in Modbury. Removed from the food court, it’s less crazy than the madness of hundreds of people all fighting for a table, and the food is surprisingly good for a café in a major shopping centre. Seated quickly by a friendly staff member, crayons are provided for the kids — the kids menu doubles as a colouring in sheet, which helps keep them occupied whilst mums and dad’s check out the menu. There’s always a good variety of seasonal specials of the day, the main menu doesn’t need to change at all though, with all dishes proving to be regular favourites. The All Day & Mega breakfasts prove to be great value, crisp bacon, bright eggs, a thick slabs of hot toast, beans, sausage, hash browns and sauteed mushrooms give enough energy to face a big trip into dozens of stores throughout the centre. Steak sandwiches and burgers are packed with salad, served with chips, and are a filling meal in themselves. We’ve had everything here from thai beef salad to perfectly prepared atlantic salmon, pumpkin risotto to light, fluffy omelettes — the food is just plain good. Staff are friendly, great with kids, and work together well as a team to ensure you’re attended to throughout your dining experience. Excellent service, great food — sure, it’s in a shopping centre, but you can forget the rat race for awhile when you’re in there. Recommended :)
