I see a lot of comments about this place lacking service or food quality well HELLO it’s café primo it’s not highly end Italian food it’s cheap and fast stop bitching. If you wanted high end go to Enzos Port Road this is café food. It served our group with a dinner movies deal and the service tonight was great and food tasted good. I can say I eat here again

I have been here a few times now, and after reading previous reviews I must say how much I agree with a lot of the sentiments– tables are not clean or cleared promptly, staff are unenthusiastic and uncaring, food is mediocre at best and the lunch specials which used to be quite reasonably priced, are no longer that and have doubled in price in a very short period of time, with the portions remaining the same size. There is a tendency, even on weekdays, for this place to get busy and noisy, so either get in for an early feed or wait until later in the day to eat. It’s an ‘okay’ place to eat but there’s no doubt in my mind that I’ve experienced better food and service elsewhere. I can’t help feeling that if this café wishes to continue operating it really needs to lift both its food quality and service standards rather promptly!

Went in there about a month ago. Asked for water and 2 glasses. The glasses were absolutely filthy, as if they had been dusted in flour. Went to the bar and asked for another 2 glasses. They too were dirty. Asked for clean glasses. The bored looking girl said«that’s how our glasses are because of the dishwasher». So that’s a no to clean glasses. The seafood looks and tastes like it just came out of a freezer packet. And yes the staff act like bored soulless androids.

I’ve seen the other reviews have been really quite bad but for a first time diner at this particular Primos I’m not dissatisfied. This occasion was before going to a movie at Tea Tree Plaza so we wanted something quick and easy. And on top of that this Primo did movie and meal deal. We all had a chicken schnitzel. It was good. It wasn’t amazing, but it was satisfactory for an in and out soft of meal. In my opinion if that’s what you’re after in this area, this place is probably the place to go with a menu boasting with a range of different western and Italian dishes at budget prices. I think the one downfall is that the place was already quite busy and fall this evening so we seated outside on a dirty table that was not cleared for a short while with waitresses constantly missing the table to be cleared. Never mind. I would honestly come back here again if I was after a quick meal before a movie upstairs at the Hoyts cinemas … As well as to grab myself a movie and meal deal.

The table was sticky when we sat at it, wobbly too– in their defence they did clean it when we asked and didn’t seem too bothered by the request. the restaurant was also overheated, I appreciate coming into warmth but this is ridiculous. At the time, it was the end of winter, but I noticed I wasn’t the only one affected by the heat, other patrons around me seemed bothered by the heat, one man visibly sweating! The food, so-so: I remember a few years back where I’d enjoy going to this Café Primo, having a good pub type meal before hitting the movie theatre, but now I find myself preferring take-away instead. When someone prefers take away to a pub styled restaurant you aren’t doing something right. I had the Pollo Avacado Chicken with chips and salad, the chips were cold and there were a few flies stuck in my salad and floating the sauce. I got the waiting staff to take it back, after around 10 minutes(Perhaps they were trying to figure out if I had placed the flies in there?) The waitress came back, and gave me a voucher for $ 20, I also got my meal remade for free — which I feel was good service, sadly the second time around the chips were still cold. The service, despite this place being incredibly busy is quite nice, I feel for the wait staff as they are clearly stressed and overworked during the busy periods. Perhaps the kitchen is the same which is why meals are constantly mediocre at best. Would I go here again? Mmm probably, if it was a group outing for the movies, but if I had the choice I’d probably just go elsewhere.

Appalling service. We booked a table for 9 people early in the day for 7:30 intending to eat and then go to the movies at 8:30. We had to wait for a table when we arrived but we took it in our stride. The first 2 meals arrived about 10 minutes after we arrived, quite impressive we thought. About 20 minutes later I asked when the remaining meals were coming and was told it wasn’t up to her, the waitress, it was up to the kitchen and she had no control. The remaining 7 meals arrived 45 minutes after the first two meals. I had Salmon with asparagus but the asparagus was actually burnt black and totally inedible the salmon was dry and very over cooked. Needless to say we missed the 8:30 movie session. It’s a very very busy place. Don’t worry about complaining as I think they’re do busy they don’t care. The waitress was a darling and obviously embarrassed and just as obviously not supported by her management who didn’t even acknowledge their dreadful service. We spent a lot of money between 9 people and could have gotten much better service, certainly quicker, at the local fish and chip take away. Shame on you Primos. None of us will return and we will definitely be vocal and advise everyone and anyone not to waste their time and good money in your establishment.

Café Primo Modbury is disappointing. The Avocado Chicken main meal I ordered was the smallest piece of breast meat I have ever seen! In fact, all the meals served to our table were expensive considering the size serving. Not what they used to be.

Located in Tea Tree Plaza, this Caffe Primo was the original. Once boasting meals for $ 9.90, Primo used to have genuinely cheap prices and pub-eske meals. However, now you will be hard pressed to find anything other then a foccacia for under $ 18.00. I’m not sure when this transition happened, but the TTP Primo has become a bulk line of food that lacks good quality. This Primo does really well however. It has been there for at least 10 years and is located just under Hoyts Cinemas, making it a spot to have dinner with friends before a movie. Primo does do Movie/dinner deals, but check the details on the tickets — as sometimes they are not valid on Saturdays after 5pm. This Caffe primo does a buffet breakfast on Sundays which is also quite popular, and hosts a lot of big birthday/function groups. However, I find this place soulless, with out good tasting or good quality food for now quite an expensive price. I don’t like it here.
