Loved the sirlion plate, and the house wine, great cozy bar for a winters night. Nice fire out back too

I was invited to try this venue and to be honest I didn’t expect much, but the food was wonderful. I tend to dismiss the western suburbs as overpriced but the quality of food and flavours were great. I tend to avoid share plates and fusion or Modern Australian, because too often it’s done badly and is a rip off but the prices here were good and portions were generous. You made me eat my words, Samson’s Paddock!

Absolutely gorgeous venue, service and food. There wasnt much we could fault — we had the olives, octopus, crispy chicken wings and wagyu ribs for entrée then the lamb and barramundi for main. The barra was slightly over cooked but everything else was delish! Then we had the pear tart and Ricky date for dessert. The pear tart may have had an undercooked base but it might have been like that on purpose — I still kinda liked it anyway. Would definitely go back!

This place is my new favourite Perth restaurant. Literally could not fault it if I tried. The restaurant is divided into three different locations; dining room, outdoors area, and the bar area. The rustic décor ties in with the menu and furniture and the music choices were ace(not to mention you can bring your own vinyl to play or request one of theirs). The beef wagu fingers we ordered for entrée were melt in your mouth delicious and the jalapeño and chorizo croquettes were tasty too! The lamb backstrap I had for mains was cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly. To top off the night the waitstaff were helpful and polite and they even bought us blankets in case we got cold! The only issue is that this place isn’t my local. Will be back soon.

In so lucky to live on this street of where Samsons paddock is. It is a great place for a quick drink a shared meal and a relaxed atmosphere. Would highly recommend the potato crochettes and the ribs!

Samson’s Paddock is a hidden gem in Mosman Park just off Stirling Highway. It has such a gorgeous two level backyard with a cozy brick fireplace that was calling to me but at this particular time it was getting really smoky in the semi-enclosed backyard that we opted to sit inside to avoid the fumes. The menu is a bit of a mixed bag — you’ve got Italian, Mexican, Asian, Spanish, classic Australian… I guess rather than being turned off by the lack of a theme, I’ve decided I like the melting pot of cuisines because it shows the diversity of Australian food today. I did still find the menu a little confusing as it’s broken out by Lower Paddock, Middle Paddock, and Top Paddock, so we had to get some guidance from the waitress on how much of what to order as I’m infamous for over-ordering. I enjoyed the quirky little quotes all over the menu with reference to how you should enjoy food — «Seize the moment. Remember all those women on the Titanic who waved off the dessert cart?» Great selection of wines for sure. We ordered the arancini balls and the croquettes to start. The arancini balls were tasty but the croquettes were much better. I loved the pork, leeks and cheese inside and artfully presented alongside chunks of soft buffalo mozzarella and homemade kipfler potato chips. For the main I ordered the seared salmon, which was nicely presented on some sweet potato purée and celery root purée, alongside some peas and carrots with a sweet balsamic glaze on the top. People I was dining with ordered the chicken skewer kebabs and the beef short ribs, which were really very standard, nothing too special in my opinion. We decided to seize the moment and order a few desserts! The panna cotta which was delicious! The saffron panna cotta was creamy and subtle and it paired well with the rich hazelnut ganache ice cream and crunchy praline dust. The almond and chocolate flourless cake was very rich but delicious. They have a mean Sunday Session with cheap pizza and beer specials and even a live band that I’d love to come back and check out, and maybe get a chance to finally sit in that gorgeous backyard of theirs.

As we walked in, we were greeted by live music. The restaurant has a lovely homely warm ambiance to it. Perfect place to head to on a winter night. Even though we just had quite a few drinks at Tsunami, I was really craving a nice warm mulled wine to warm me up. Willie ordered a glass of wine as well because I refuse to drink alone. I had studied the menu online before we headed to Samsons Paddock and I knew I NEEDED to order the beer battered fries with truffle oil and parmesan cheese. We both love fries! Willie is my go-to guy whenever I’m in need of a fries feed. No matter what time and place, he will go out with me to feed my fries addiction. These fries were insanely crunchy! Loved the crunch paired with the shaved parmesan cheese. Too bad I couldn’t taste any of the truffle oil. Would have been really tasty if they actually added shaved truffle on top. Haha am I asking for too much? Whenever pâté or liver is on the menu, I have to order it. Luckily Willie is as adventurous with food(sometimes even more so) as me. The liver was cooked to «melt in your mouth» perfection. The slightly sweet onion jam complimented it very well. I skipped the bread and ricotta cheese as I didn’t want to waste stomach space on things I don’t really love eating. Gnocchi is another«must» for me if its on the menu. I prefer mine pan fried but hey, I’ll take what I can get! This one was so soft and pillowy, it was like I was biting into little tiny clouds. The napoli sauce was tasty and not too over powering on the tomato taste. Perfect comfort food for a cold wintery night. The final dish we ordered was the pork and chicken adodo. This was my least favourite dish. The homemade crepes were really tasty but for $ 32 I expected a bit more to the dish. I have a rule — to never order poultry when I dine out cause its never spectacular and this confirmed my suspicions! We only ordered it because we needed one more main dish and this was the special of the day. I like to try things that is not ordinarily on the menu. Final thoughts — Great winter warmer meal and first experience at Samsons Paddock. We were both full and tired from all the sake we consumed throughout the night so we couldn’t fit in any dessert. I want to come back and try the saffron panna cotta with hazelnut ganache and raspberry jelly. How good does that sound?

The menu is beautifully crafted to provide a very good first impression on what to order for undecided customers. Service: extremely attentive waitress that gave really good recommendations and also started the fire for us when it was getting chilly outside. Starters: we decided on the cheese fondue and it was fabulous. Cheese was really really delicious and tasty and the bread was toasted to perfection. It was both piping hot yet crispy on the outside. Simply delicious. Mains: I ordered the fish moqueca. The swordfish was extremely fresh and the dish was done very tastefully. The coconut and the lime gravy accentuated the seafood and it was simply fantastic. All in would definitely be back for more.

The polenta chips with smoked paprika remoulade($ 13.00) is a nice and simple dish. I question the associated price tag considering I know that polenta chips are a very cheap thing to make, but the flavours in the dish are tasty enough to enjoy despite the cost. I would have liked to see a few more on the plate and for the remoulade to have been a bit more balanced as I found the smoked paprika quite dominating. The coconut crusted tiger prawns with lime and chilli aioli($ 17.00) was my favourite of the savoury dishes ordered, though once again I couldn’t help but question the cost. At over $ 4.00 per prawn they needed to impress which I’ll admit they were tasty, but still didn’t quite hit the mark fully for me. Great potential with the use of the coconut, but they needed seasoning and more spark to the dipping sauce. I found choosing a dish as difficult as ever with my eyes flitting over the menu in greed. Finally I made my decision of the ham and cheese croquettes(I think these were around $ 14.00). They came out looking almost like little mini arancini! Golden and crunchy on the outside, they had a combination of potato, ham and cheese inside to create an enjoyable bite. Nothing groundbreaking, but it ticked the boxes. When we’d finished those bites we actually realised we could stomach a little more so we added on an order of the Copacabana quesadilla — a dish filled with chilli con carne, gouda, mushroom and topped with guacamole and sour cream($ 21.00). It was a relatively thin quesadilla but had some nice flavour to it. Not wanting to nitpick I would have preferred the onions inside to be less chunky but the use of gouda was a nice flavour elevation. Again a satisfying enough dish but going along that common theme I found myself once again questioning the price. When the desserts came out I may have gotten a little distracted by the wobbliness of my saffron pannacotta with hazelnut ganache, praline and raspberry jelly($ 15.00). I love the use of saffron threads in the dessert as it brought colour and spice, but balanced well with the other ingredients. The hazelnut ganache in particular was a beautiful and well thought out addition that complimented the pannacotta really well. Some people might have baulked at the use of sprouts on the dish, but I’m of the camp that actually enjoys some fresh edible garnishes on my desserts — I think it helps cut through any sweetness. The milk chocolate cheesecake with guazzeto of strawberry and passionfruit cream($ 15.00) looked really simple but I thought it was quite pretty too with it’s little flaming cloud of pashmak and a scattering of sprouts. The milk chocolate flavour is spot on, lending itself well to the smooth but rich cheesecake mixture. The base is crumbly and buttery; the passionfruit cream a nice juxtaposition in flavour. I love the use of those little Samson’s Paddock chocolate squares they add to all their desserts, it’s a nice little touch and the fact that it’s edible makes it worthwhile having on the plate. Though my eye immediately went to the pannacotta because I’m such a fiend for it, I have to admit I had a small pang of jealousy when the flourless chocolate cake with praline crumb and anglaise($ 15.00) came out to the table. There’s something so satisfying about a lovely dense chocolate cake, with those rich flavours and almost chewy texture. We make something similar at home and it’s always a big hit — perfect to warm up and have with a scoop of ice-cream. Again we saw a repeat of a strawberry and sprouts on the plate which seems to be their formula for desserts. And with the last scrape of food all licked up and plates cleared, we took the opportunity to relax in the lovely sun and keep chatting. Samson’s Paddock has that kind of vibe where you don’t feel rushed and it’s a great setting to spend time with friends.

Looking for a special place to celebrate a birthday we went to Samson’s Paddock. This suburban secret has a sophisticated warmth about it, from the exposed bricks to the big inviting windows and aged timber features. Enter via the spacious bar where you can enjoy some pre-dinner drinks or head to the main attraction — the dining room with its eclectic menu of small and large share plates. We loved our first two plates. The arancini balls were big juicy flavourbombs of mushroom, feta and spinach. The coconut-crusted tiger prawns were also delicious. For mains we couldn’t decide so enlisted the help of our friendly waitress who suggested the teriyaki squid salad and the bbq pork spare ribs. The squid salad was light, fresh and tasty and the perfect contrast to the rich succulent ribs, which slid off the bone and were bursting with dense smoky flavours. Being on a food high we ordered the chocolate cherry semi-freddo and were not disappointed. The ice cream was smooth and creamy with a lovely balance of sweet chocolate and sour fruit. With great food and relaxed but professional service we’ll definitely be back; next time to try the cosy terrace out the back.

So… my partner and I have been lookin for a unit to live in for 6 months… we have wanted a place on Glyde street as we feel it’s pleasant but we have always thought it would be great to have a nice local wine bar… and now Samson’s Paddock is here it has made the street perfect We found Samson’s Paddock by accident… we had time to kill and the place looked nice… but WOW… what a brilliant find… When you look through the windows into the cage it looks pleasant, but it is what is out the back that is awesome. A small Cosy tiered outdoor area is perfect for a lovely summers day… and I saw an outdoor fire place which will be perfect for the cooler evenings… The wine and cider list is great and the chose of light small food or main dishes is epic. The food was fantastic and light.. As we were only stopping for a bit but in the 45 minutes we were tempted by bruschetta, battered chips and prawns … and a beautiful crisp white wine… Samson’s Paddock has a great feel, attentive team and is bound to become a mosman park local!!!

We were warmly greeted and given a choice of places to sit, the dining room, outside or in the bar. We choose the long wooden communal table in the bar area. The exposed brick walls and the hanging industrial light fittings look great and there is a real warmth about the space. That warmth is also extended to the outdoor courtyard, where there are red-brick fireplaces and lots of seating scattered with funky, bright cushions. There is blues-y music in the background, which gives the bar a cool vibe. The interior has that rustic look that so many places do now — but since Samson’s Paddock is steeped in history — it really works The menu designed to share. Samson’s has a good selection of mainly local wine, including some premium wines available by the glass. There is also an excellent collection of whiskies. We choose chicken & almond albondigas($ 17) from the small plates menu. The chicken meatballs are extremely fragrant. They are sitting in a little dish of Catalan sorfito — a deliciously rich Spanish tomato and onion sauce. The char grilled porterhouse tasting board($ 59), is fit for any carnivore, with a whopping four different types of steak. The tasting notes advise you to eat the steaks in a particular order — veal, then the grain fed steak, the grass fed and finally the wagu beef. On the side are roast veg and hand cut chips. We relish every morsel. I wouldn’t go so far as to say that the stuffed calamari($ 25) is chewy, but the calamari tubes are not as tender as I would have hoped. The spinach stuffing is spot on, as is the mouth-watering combination of creamy blue cheese sauce with mushroom grits. The saffron panna cotta($ 15) is wibbly-wobbly perfection. A big dollop of scrumptious hazelnut ganache sits on top, finished with raspberry jelly. A delectable dessert! Whether you visit Samson’s Paddock for share food and drinks or pre-drinks before heading somewhere else for dinner — it is well worth a visit. The restaurant and bar is a welcome addition to the leafy Glyde Street — which is fast becoming a western suburbs foodie destination — also home of the excellent Suburban Table and FUKU Okamese restaurants.

Missed out on this place in its previous incarnation«unravelled“by 2 days. Decided to drop in here and I’m really glad I did. Great venue, great staff. Fantastic food. The menu is brilliant and simple. The flavours are really well considered. Not really Italian, more French, Italian and Australian.
