Great food and great menu. It was very busy when I was there on a Thursday night! The service was excellent. Staff took our order fast and the food came out fast and it was delicious. The stuffed chicken wings were great. The satay chicken was fantastic and the main meal we had was amazing. It was great to dine out at a place with gluten free dishes clearly stated on the menu. I would love to go back.

Went here Thursday night for dinner, not a busy restaurant that night, it took a while to get our orders taken but once served the food came out shortly after. My favourite dish was the chilli squid which was lightly battered, it came with some lovely green veges. Couple of friends rave about the food here, I don’t have the same impression. Bit pricy for what we got, menu contained lots of dishes you would find at a thai restaurant.

Great mix of traditional Cambodian food and fusion Asian, bit noisy though so ask for a table near the front Ask for the fish amok, it’s not on the menu last time we went but it’s amazing! BYO which is always a plus and a good size for parties

So went here for a work dinner. The general ambiance and layout of the restaurant was quite nice. Conversation was flowing so I’m not sure if there was a long wait or not. Quite a variety of dishes available to choose from and very generous portions. I had a sweet and sour dish… possible could had a bit more sweet and sour for my liking. Everyone else in the group I was with seemed content with their meals but there was no one saying ‘oh my god this is fantastic!’

I’ll agree with most everyone else here: The prices are a bit high. Also, this — to me– had the dishes of a Thai restaurant. I’m not savvy on Cambodian food, so I asked the waitress about this. She told me the food from the two countries is actually very similar, but Cambodian food is less spicy overall and traditionally uses less meat. On to the review… We have two small daughters(4 years and 15 months) so we tend to frequent restaurants early. We were their first customers one evening, and the hostess and owner were very kind in making sure we were comfortable and had our drinks quickly. We ordered Pad Thai with Chicken(mild), Vegetarian Mee, Roti Bread, and Lamb Ka-Tha. All were large portions(take away leftovers… Yay!), very fresh, and some of the best tasting food we’ve had since arriving in Perth. The restaurant itself was clean, dim, small, modern, and decorated with the traditional photos of Buddhas and bamboo. But it was comfortable for us. I could see how at peak dinner hour it would feel cramped and crowded though. Anyway, to sum up, we’ll be going back again and again and again… At least for take out anyway.

We have been going to this place for years however lately it has gotten worse and worse. The last trip left 2 of us sick for 2 days. The curries are thick, pasty and salty. The kitchen never looks very clean from the counter either. It’s too bad as it used to be good but things have definitely gone downhill.

It was a good meal, but I’m not running around singing ‘The Hills Are Alive.’ The Green Curry was the winner of the evening. The flavor had a lot of complexity and depth. It ran on the warmer side, but I like a good kick in my pants when it comes to spice. The Massaman Beef Curry, however, fell short of my expectations. I love love love me a good Massaman and I left feeling a bit disappointed. It was too savory for a traditional Massaman and hardly had any of that delicious, sweet tang. More brown sugar! Stat! So far, Thai Orchid has the Massaman Medal in the bag. It’s BYO, but if you forget there is a liquor store right across the road.

This is our favourite local. Always fast and friendly and the food is great. The prices have jacked up in the past few years — but as these things go, it is still good value.

My husband and I visited Cambodia back in 2008 and totally fell in love with the people, culture and food! Cambodia is an amazing and inspiration place, truly worth the visit. On our return to Perth we immediately looked up Cambodian food places as we were having Cambodia withdrawals and found Tamarind. :) It’s a Western take on Cambodian food offering both Asian Cuisine and Cambodian food. While is does cover a lot of ‘Asian’ dishes, these have most definitely been tweaked to add the Cambodian flare and I find that each dish has more ‘flavour’ than just spiciness — like most other asian restaurants. Cambodian’s are largely vegetarians/fish eaters, however the Tamarind menu has had to adapt to the Australia meat eaters — so there’s a lot more meat dishes then you would actually expect on a traditional Cambodian menu. We’ve visited at least 10 times over the years — I’ve even had my birthday there one year. The service is wonderful, attentive and quick. The food is gorgeous — for vegetarians, there is quite a lot of choice and my favourite is the red curry — YUM! The Red Curry reminds be of being in Cambodia and have dinner at this little restaurant in Siem Reap. For traditional cambodian I would recommend ordering some of the Khmer dishes on the menu and the red curry. Tamarind is BYO — but there is a bottle shop across the road. My only negative about Tamarind is the noise… if it’s a full restaurant, it’s almost impossible to talk to someone opposite you — it’s incredibly noisy due to the small spacing. The décor is reflective of a Cambodian restaurant — makes you feel like you’re back in Cambodia and it will continue to be one of favourite places to visit.

Great service and the food was tasty. I like more spice in my food but haven’t been to Cambodia so it could be that their food isn’t as spicy as Thailand… BYO is a big plus!

Never been to Cambodia but if the food is this good, I’d strongly consider visiting. Well, alright, I’d go for the culture and history too… Tamarind is authentic Cambodian cuisine, with elements of other Asian culinary schools criss-crossing(not sure what my fellow Unilocalers on here are talking about…). For entrees, for example there are Scallop Teriyaki and Stuffed Chicken Wings, but things get decidedly more culturally-focused in the mains department with dishes like their delicious Grilled Eggplant Chicken, and popular Beef Masaman(a more-ish thick red curry containing potato and not OD-ing it on the coconut cream). The look of the restaurant itself is not much to write home about, but then I didn’t come here for décor…

I’m with Lynn on this one. The sign clearly says authentic asian & cambodian cuisine. Definitely asian food, but didn’t see much of Cambodia on the menu. It is more Thai food than anything else. The food is good quality, fresh and flavourful. The staff are lovely and attentive, with fast food service. For vegans and celiac patrons this place has you covered, just ask the staff and they will happily tell you the extensive list of dishes you can eat. The price is a little on the hefty side for what you get.

This place is great but I have my reasons for the 3 stars and they go as follows: 1) They advertise as a Cambodian restaurant yet all the food on the menu seems to be Asian. Having spent some time in Cambodia where the food isn’t exactly exquisite cuisine I wonder why one would advertise as Cambodian when they don’t even seem to serve it(blessing in disguise). 2) Why so expensive? Yes the food is good but not as good as the prices they are charging. Bring down the price and value comes up a lot. 3) The place isn’t exactly full of atmoshpere. Now saying all that, its not a bad spot, it just seems that their priorities and their markets are a little skewed.
