Simply my favourite sushi in Mt Lawley, you can get something different to your usual sushi. I tend not to go for the rice dishes as I think they are average, but the rolls and salads(Mr Munchies Special Sushi Salad my new fave) are a great casual meal choice and also caters to those that don’t like sushi — try the Chicken Katsu Kilpatrick Roll with cheese and bacon.

I adore Mr Munchies. Their specials are always interesting(and often a little insane), their standard menu is full of glorious staples including the spicy tuna roll — which is stupidly delicious and you also have the option to «build your own» roll. I always have the spicy tuna and for you GF folks out there, they keep GF soy sauce that you can have if you request it and they’re always happy to let you know what menu options are or aren’t suitable. There isn’t much space to sit in, it’s just little, but they offer take away too. You can’t split your bill, so just be wary to ring cash or somebody who’ll buy you dinner. Friday’s here are always incredibly busy. Mr Munchies is often my Friday treat but it’s super easy to place a phone order and collect once it’s ready. This is a massive recommendation from me. If you’re looking for sushi you definitely want to give this place a try.

Very quick service. The sushi is delicious, kind of a ‘Japanese with a twist’ style flavours. The small is 4 pieces of sushi and large 8 pieces. The Crispy Chicken bento box is really nice.

Tried the famous duck sushi. Not so sure about it. We custom made our unagi sushi & that was awesome. Agedashi tofu. can’t go wrong there!

OMG we were exploring this labyrinth size arcade, and just before we lost hope we found what looked like an oasis in the desert. This bustling little joint was going off like a frog in a sock! Although we found the sushi portion sizes a little too western(very large) they were scrum-didili-umptous. We would definitely venture down the arcade again for this paradise.

Good food, cheap and pretty big quantity. But it’s a weird location! I don’t know why i expected something more like a nice restaurant and not a take away place

I am seriously considering changing jobs to work closer to Mr Munchies, just so I can eat lunch here everyday. With a huge selection of the most exciting and stylish sushi Perth has to offer, you will definitely want to give this place a try. I personally have a few trust issues with sushi after some bad shopping centre experiences, but everything here is super fresh and delicious. You can choose to make your own sushi rolls or pick one straight from their menu and they also have a seasonal menu and a selection of bento boxes too. The décor is really fun and a great place for a relaxed lunch or afternoon snack but I wouldn’t recommend this place for a first, second, third or fourth date as there is an art to eating Mr Munchies gracefully which I haven’t yet figured out. The portion sizes are large and the small serving of sushi(4 pieces) is enough for a light lunch. The only criticism I have of this place is that it is a little pricey.

Wanting a light meal to share, my friends and I headed to this small placed tucked down an alleyway. The variety was fabulous! We each selected a plate and shared various sushi roles… and were impressed. The combinations have been well thought through and well presented. Will defently come back again.

Quirky, exciting & fun sushi dining experience which I loved! Lots of interesting sushi options or you can be your own chef and opt for your made-to-order sushi. Favourite dishes include; killpatrick sushi with bacon and mustard sauce, Philadelphia roll with salmon and cream cheese as well as the seafood roll filled with fresh prawns and crab! Loved the quirkiness of this place and the fresh, mouth watering sushi!!!

Definitely one of the best spots for sushi in Perth! The only letdown is the size of the shop but it has a pretty cool vibe and I love that it is hidden down the alley like a hidden secret location.

Great place for sushi and Japanese dishes. My favourites are the Karaage Chicken and Teriyaki Beef, along with the option to build your own sushi roll or salad. They don’t have many tables but it is definitely worth the wait(and they do takeaway) Highly recommended

Really good sushi indeed. And very funky choices which is so refreshing after seeing the same old same old combinations in most of the sushi places. All made to order, fresh and tasty. Probably the only issue I had with them is that they were really big and a bit too soft. As a result if you stiff it in your mouth you look like a caveman, but if you bite it you are scrambling bits and pieces of the other half. I tried Mexican roll and Spicy tuna roll. Although bold attempt Mexican was more interesting then tasty — good, but just for the kicks of it. In my book sushi has to taste like fish and thus the spicy tuna sushi was superb. Fresh, juicy, plenty of delicious tuna and other ingredients did not overcome it’s great, slightly marinated taste. All in all a place I will probably return.

Down a little alley, right behind Grill’d is a special spot called Mr Munchies Sushi. It’s incredibly fresh, an interesting range of flavours or choose your favourite have it made to order! Staff are incredibly friendly and attentive and I thoroughly enjoyed the food. As a relative newbie to the sushi scene I saw the chicken lovers roll as my go to, since it had teriyaki chicken in it. Lovely! And duck done two ways — too hard to go past :) And soft shell crab — another winner. Three for three! Great spot. A little hidden treasure :)

Compared to other sushi places around Perth, I have to admit that this place is pretty impressive(in terms of the food). A-friggen-mazing. The only way to really describe it all would be like a Subway — but for sushi. You can build your own but unlike the more controlling personality types, when it comes to food I like to see a list of a few options otherwise I get overwhelmed with choice(Yeah — I freak out in food courts). The only problem with the place is that they’re a victim of their own success cos this place was packed out within 20mins after I arrive(note for future self: get there before peak hour).

Mr Munchies I cannot believe we have not met earlier. Having already had grilld as a pre-derby lunch, my girlfriend and I decided to try Mr Munchies not feeling for a double burger day(has been done previously). Walking in at around 8.30pm and being a slighly small fitout the place was buzzing with people and were told a takeaway order would take 20 minutes. Thankfully a table became available and we were able to be seated. Loved the option of a bespoke dinner selection. I ordered the teriyaki chicken sushi bowl with avocado, black sesame seeds, carrots and tamagoyaki with a miso soup. My friend ordering a standard tuna sushi roll with avocado. The miso soup came out first and with all Japanese restaurants I find that the miso can be used as a litmus test on whether or not the food will be high quality. The soup wasn’t too salty and had a large amount of tofu at the bottom and as predicted the sushi bowl that quickly followed was equally as good. Only down point not enough carrot. My friends sushi was fresh and a good balance of mayo and tuna. All together mine came in around $ 14.50. The staff are extremly friendly and traditionally Japanese. Loved it and will be visiting again soon.

Tucked in the back, passed Grill’d and Gelare is Mr Munchies in Mt Lawley. It is like subway for sushi and doesn’t disappoint. It can be challenging at time to find table as most of ML has caught on to how cool this place is and put it top of their fave sushi restaurants.(Sigh! Nothing is a hidden gem for long). Don’t be put off by the busyness and loud conversations, persist for the delightfully fresh sushi. My friend made me try the Mr Munchies Special sushi salad of chopped salmon, tuna and prawns with rocket and cherry tomato’s with the wasabi aioli. If you’re a fan of sashimi, you’ll love this deconstructed sushi salad. After having this you’d only really need a serving of small sushi and you’d be right. However I indulged and shared the Chicken lover and Crunchy Spider Roll. Both hit the spot, leaving me pleasantly full. The spider roll is a favourite with the crunchy fresh crab with complementary flavours. Only bad thing is I don’t like the drizzle sauce they put over the sushi as it ends up all over my fingers and ruins it for me. However I’m sure you can ask for it without. Next time I’m going to make my own and try the pick and mix sushi. I’ll be to sure to tell you how it goes. Knowing me, either a success or a disaster if tastes.

Sushi with a Difference Thought I would try out this place with a friend a while ago after hearing good things and only reading positive reviews online. Making a booking only 2 hours ahead wasn’t an issue and the service was quite good also. We were explained how to order the do it yourself sushi option and opted for Teriyaki Chicken, Softshell Crab and Steak sushi all of which with all our chosen extras turn out to be delicious and served quiet promptly. Softshell crab was my personal favourite. Also a point of interest was the relative low cost. 15 dollars each.

Um bacon wrapped sushi covered in melted cheese? Welcome to the bizarro world of Mr Muchies Sushi. It’s a world were customer service is beyond friendly and helpful. It’s a place where flavours from dishes such as oysters kilpatrick and potato salad are turned into sushi and taste incredible! You can also make your own, and put pretty much anything in your roll. However you must try a few of their slightly whacky specialties first, I highly recommend the potato salad. The rolls are huge, so a small serving of 4 pieces is enough for lunch.

A liberating experience. Bespoke sushi, made right before your eyes. How can you *not* love this idea? Genius! I chanced upon this Subway-format sushi bar when I was travelling down the arcade that divides Grill’d and Gelare in Mt Lawley. At the end of the passageway I discovered a funky little eatery, looking spanking new and begging for me to break it in. The way it works is like a Build-A-Bear for your sushi roll. Pick a base that will form the heart of your sushi(about 16 options!). Then add your stuffing, like cucumber, carrot, raddish, tofu, bacon… Next select fancy toppings such as black sesame, garlic chips or Tobikko and finally pick from one of their Japanese sauces. Your sushi is then made fresh, in front of you. If you find yourself overwhelmed by the freedom of options, Mr. Munchies has some clever sushi combos to suggest. I went for the ‘Seafood Roll’, Sml size($ 10.50). Chunks of fresh salmon, cucumber and steamed prawn were wrapped artfully in reverse rice and seaweed, then topped with little chunks of tuna sashimi, chilli flake coils, wasabi mayo and chilli mayo. The effort given to presentation went beyond expectations for a casual sushi shop. The portion size satisfied too. This place is going to go off. And I can tell you now I am going to become a regular fixture here.
