Had the corn fritters and a coffee on a moderately busy weekday morning. Service was prompt and friendly as was the food service. As other reviewers have commented the serving sizes are on the large size however it’s not the most refined dining. Three large blobs of deep fried corn fritter come on a bed of rocket and diced tomato as well as a huge serve of guacamole. Included bacon is modest but chewy instead of crunchy. Corn fritter is a bit doughy and could benefit from a better corn to batter ratio. I spied some zucchini in there as well so extra points for the added health factor. Coffee is good. Overall it seems to be more of a quantity over quality offering.

This was one of the best breakfasts I’ve had in a long time. Warning: Chaos café does not much around with sizes. I implore you to try the corn fritters. that guac! Come here extremely famished because you will definitely leave full. Service was good, food came out fast, coffee was delicious and everything is reasonably priced. This place is a MUST if you are in the area for breakfast/brunch.

Chaos Café is the best value brunch that I can think of in all of Sydney! Seriously the portion sizes are very generous and the cost totally reasonable. I think I’ll be frequenting this place much more often… The corn fritters are Y-U-M. Crispy, fried goodness on top of a huge mound of guacamole(see earlier comment re: good value!) And for all you chai lovers out there, this is a good one. I don’t have anything negative to say, though my friend ordered the bacon pot hash and wasn’t too impressed. «Too much bacon not enough hash» was her opinion. It gets busy so prepare to wait. But you’ll be glad you did.

I’ve known about this café for years, however after 7 years in the area, I finally paid my first visit a few weekends ago. Why have I never come here before? While the wait was exceptionally long for food– my friends and I weren’t in any great rush so we didn’t mind at all. Between three of us, we ordered two serves of the corn fritters because after spotting the mammoth servings at the table next to us– we knew we wouldn’t be able to finish one each(even with my insatiable appetite). Pretty impressive considering Aussie café portion sizes usually leave a lot to be desired. The fritters are fried… and by fried I mean deep, oily, morsels of heart attack material– but I mean that in the best of ways. Maybe they are not the healthiest fritters I’ve eaten, but definitely tasty. A generous scoop of avocado was the perfect accompaniment. We took Ben’s advice and ordered a side of the jalapeño relish and the spicy kick was a nice touch. Oh and anyone who has read my café reviews knows that I’m a big chai latte critic. I actually prefer the sweet, fake, powder mix variation of the chai– rather than the fancy, fresh brewed leaves(I think it’s the American in me craving fake processed stuff). Chaos serves one of my top three fave sweet, syrupy chais in all of Sydney. Sharing the fritters amongst friends meant I had enough room in my stomach to order two of them. Definitely glad I finally tried this place out. Will be happy to visit again.

They make a good coffee. They make a good breakfast. They make it large and they are really quite nice. I will recommend and I will go again and enjoy.

It was my local for years and I have always enjoyed going here. The bacon pot hash has to be my favourite dish and the coffee is also consistently good.

Running the line between kitsch and funky is this small little café in the heart of Neutral Bay. I couldn’t decide if I loved or hated the slightly worn tiled floors, coloured walls and small wooden tables — either way I was hungry and needed to eat, and so eat I did. I arrived around lunch time on a Sunday, and was pleased to see both brunch and lunch menus available — the brunch options did look good, but I opted for the Moroccan lamb wrap on the lunch menu. It was not bad, but I was a little disappointed — for $ 15 it was not a very filling wrap, and I’m not sure how well the pistachios in the wrap work. A small pet hate — I went to order an orange juice, and after being asked«which size» I replied«just the small»… to which I was told they only have two sizes, large and extra large. I dislike the fad where sizes start at some supposedly amazing bargain«large» size, it doesn’t fool anyone(I hope). Anyway, minor gripes aside, it was still good and I would probably go back and try the brunch menu.

Chaos café was one the first places I was told I ‘must try’ when I told people I was moving to Neutral Bay. I was told it is one of the best places in Neutral Bay for brunch. I was told I need to try the corn fritters with bacon. I was getting excited. I LOVE bacon and who doesn’t enjoy a huge ball of fried corn bread(think corn baller from Arrested Development) — So my wife and I went there. The décor is a little beat down, but it gives some character. We sit down and order some coffee and some sort of juice. The coffee was okay and the juice was pretty decent, but nothing that I can remember — so obviously not that good as I am a huge lover of foods. The corn fritters and bacon were disappointing. The bacon was soggy and dripping grease. I prefer crispy bacon, but if that is not done, at the minimum fully cook it. The corn fritters were also lacking. They either needed some honey to make them sweet or some jalopenos to give them a kick. Either way this place is not what I was hoping for and I do no tbelieve it is worth your time.

Chaos exists for one purpose and one purpose only — BREAKFAST. Oh, I know, I know, they do lunch as well, but the other Unilocal reviews of this joint cover that off adequately enough, and(imho) lunch kind of misses the point. In fact, it totally misses the point, because Chaos’ breakfast menu is daring, brazen and nothing short of spectacular. Nowhere else in Sydney offers a brekkie menu like these food bandits have rustled up. My hands-down favourite? the BACONPOTHASH, a gigantic plate of bacon, mushrooms, potato, tomato, onion, and gravy ladled onto a coupla pieces of thick cut toast. The greatest hangover cure known to mankind. The corn fritters on a bed of salsa are also pretty radical — ask for a side dish of minced jalapeño chili to really kickstart your morning. They smash eggs benny, muesli, fresh juices and smoothies too, as well as all your other standard brekkie fare, but their signature items are where it’s at. And, as a bonus, if you finish one of their colossal meals you get a plaque on the wall. Fine you don’t really, but the meals are seriously big enough to choke an Orc. Killer, just killer. Get involved on a sunny mid-morning after a late night out on the tiles.

I saw this colourful café from the across the car park and always thought it looked like a Mexican restaurant. Nope, turns out it’s just colourful. Anyway, it’s a pretty simple café menu. Sandwiches, wraps, pancakes, omelet, banana bread. Interesting picks: Lime Spider with lemon and lime squash with ice cream($ 4.60) China gun powder green tea($ 3.30) Moroccan spiced lamb wrap($ 10) Chaos brekky wrap($ 11.90) Tumeric slice Daily fresh baked and large muffins Owner is lovely. I walked in needing a cold drink to cool of on the 30+ day. He must have known I was really feeling it and offered me some fresh lemon juice for free he’d just made up. Service of kindness. The juice is not freshly squeezed as I found out the hard way — pays to ask and not assume. Sweet carton pineapple juice is what I got and I could have bought a carton of it for the price I paid. Boo. I know rent to pay, waiters to wage.

Chaos is mammoth in all proportions especially with the food portions that you are served. I have never in all the time I have eaten here been able to get through a full meal. Its a frequent for me because it sits in the middle of the Neutral Bay parking lot easy to drop in before or after grocery shopping, hair or beauty appointments and right near my bank. The nachos here is incredible so is the pancake stack but I really like sitting right within all the colourful riot that is from the chairs to the floor. And I love the choice of magazines you can peruse while you eat — yes very rude but in Chaos no one cares. Verdict: Good hearty portions for a local café.

With it’s multi-coloured mosaic floor and hand-painted chairs with words scrawled across the back like«LOVE», «CHAOS» and, randomly, «BEER»(or am i imagining that? there was something funny!), Chaos is a happy little hippy-esque paradise tucked behind the Neutral Bay shops. Tucked away though it is though, noone seems to have trouble finding the place, or certainly not in the lunchtime rush. As I was waiting for my coffee I saw the most amazing looking schnitzel burgers pass me from the kitchen-and that’s coming from a vegetarian– cementing my decision to give Chaos a red-hot go for food next time I’m in the area. The coffee was good but not great so I’m still on a mission to find the best soy piccolo in Neutral Bay… watch this space…
