Let me qualify that star rating. its 3 stars; a-ok in terms of all your dining choices. 4 stars in terms of a super cheap little thai takeaway place. the staff are super friendly and my food was delicious. massaman curry, steamed rice & roti. ready in 15 mins. serving portions were large(I have enough leftover for another meal) and it was just a smidge over $ 20. considering I’m getting 2 meals out of it, that’s really $ 10. easily = 4 stars in its class.

Probably the cheapest Thai in New Farm area, but also the worst!(We’ve tried a few!) Delivery was free and quick, but after sitting down to enjoy our meals we were completely disappointed and threw most of it out. They left out most of the main traditional and important vegetables, which they even described in the menu. The duck curry included a tiny amount of poor quality duck, some zucchini, a heap of carrot and some broccoli. No pineapple, no tomatoes and every other duck curry I’ve had has lychees in it. But, they did add a few extra ingredients, like HAIR, LOTSOFHAIR! Although the Massman beef curry didn’t include any hairy surprises, we did get enough potato to feed a small family and about a tablespoon of beef. The tom yum soup is good, but after the hair; I won’t eat anything from there again. Ever.

Beautiful Thai food situated in a very assuming section of New Farm. When I first passed through this little square, I just assumed that Krua E-San was a fast-food drunk pass through a la the Pizza Hut and kebab shops next door. However, after my roommate recommended that I give it a try, I was hooked! I’ve tried the pad see ew which is a spicy flat noodle with a choice of meat(chicken, beef, pork or shrimp/seafood), vegetables and folded in with a little scrambled egg. The chili peppers give this dish just the right amount of kick while no detracting from the sweet tanginess of the Thai sauce. I’ve also given the green curry withe vegetables and tofu a try as well. It’s slightly more bland than the noodles but the subtle creaminess of the coconut milk more than makes up for it. The vegetables were crunchy and the fried tofu soaked up the sauce so it was a veritable burst of curry with each bite. This is one of those meals where I can devour almost a limitless amount of rice to supplement the richness of the curry. Don’t be put off by the seeming lack of foot traffic going through the shop! It seems that most of its business is via take-away. The guys working the register are very polite and the food comes out very promptly. Krua E-San really is a hidden gem in New Farm that has consistently given me very hearty and delicious dinners.
