Cosy, modern place that offers a variety of healthy breakfast and lunch! A bit busy and not that many tables, but we got a seat after a while. I loved the menu, couldn’t decide if I wanted the green brekkie(salad with poached eggs), the sweet potato pumpkin bruschetta(sourdough bread with feta, pumpkin, kale, beetroot and poached eggs) or some a big brekkie with hamburgers, poached eggs, tomatoes, bruschetta and bacon. As a porridge lover, I went for the porridge with a variety of nuts, berries and seeds. It looked amazing, but it didn’t taste as much(milk mixed with oats with some nuts on top) that I’d expected for that price(about $ 15). I would love to go there again and try some of the other dishes, as it looked soooo good.

A nice location with nice décor. We were seated quickly and told to order at the counter. I’m OK with this style of service but I know it’s not for some. After looking through an interesting menu we made our decisions, I would have the Coconut and Mango Pannacotta and my partner decided on the Little Loco Breakfast Board. Up I went to order. Breakfast board done, but wait no panacotta. Oh that’s OK, I’ll have the Waffle Benedict. What’s that? No waffles but you’ll give me sourdough. Big day yesterday and you’re short on stock. Guess it’ll do, one star down. 15 minutes later, meals are here. Yay. Still no coffee. Up to the counter. Apology we’ll make those now. One cap and a chai tea. Actually we asked for a mug size chai latte but I’m done with working so hard, another star down. Cap has actual shaved chocolate on it, win. Finally the food. Fairly pretty, my sourdough was beautifully toasted with a crunchy crust, eggs were a little runnier in the whites than I like but tasty and a nice runny yolk. The chipotle style Benny sauce is super tasty with a nice spicy edge. Nicely cooked bacon. Michelle said her meal was also very tasty. So, while not having what I wanted available due to apparent poor planning and mix ups with drinks, what was served was thoroughly enjoyable and that is the saving grace for this quaint little café. That and cute young staff who are energetic and friendly.

For those who are looking for a satisfying yet healthy alternative, little loco café will deliver the perfect meal! We are happy to inform that not only do they cater to a variety of dietary requirements(VEG, GF, DF, Paleo) to satisfy your healthy breakfast needs, but they also have an all day breakfast menu! The minimalistic café offers quirky twists on breakfast classics and creative wholesome dishes such as the smashed avo with roasted beetroot arranged on two slices of pumpkin sourdough. Dusted with dukkah and complete with a side order of poached eggs– it’s fresh, healthy and thoroughly delicious!
The sweet potato pumpkin bruschetta was also a real show stopper! Breathtaking food presentation with the rainbow of colours from the pumpkin and beetroot hummus. Not only was it visually stimulating, but it tasted just as good as it looked! Paired with the creaminess of the perfectly poached eggs, the flavour combination was absolutely delicious and the dish will guarantee to make your tastebuds go loco!

Little Loco has been in my bookmarks for awhile and I finally got to check it out on Sunday morning! Arriving at 8am there were plenty of seating options available, but by 8.30am the place was packed. Seating is mostly outdoors, and dog and child friendly(I got to sit next to a cute french bulldog puppy!) No table service here — make sure you secure a seat before you go and order at the counter. The menu targets the health-inclined breakfaster, and to my delight even featured almond milk for coffee. I ordered smashed avocado on pumpkin sourdough, while my partner had the sourdough with poached eggs & bacon. I enjoyed my meal, though I found it slightly odd that it came with two pieces of toast but only had avocado on one… Not sure what that was about haha. Our cappuccinos came with REALCHOCOLATE on top — YAY! This would be a great, easy-to-visit local café, but as nothing stuck out to be as super-fantastic I wouldn’t be inclined to make the trip especially to visit again.

* Small venue with wooden benched tables for groups and other seating just outside a Queenslander next door. I was really curious about that and wondered if it was a residential house or actually part of the restaurant. * Good location at Merthyr Road near the cute Village with a bus stop right in front of it and also across the street(199). * We were promptly seated after arrival at around 10:15 am. The place was about ¾ filled on that Saturday morning. I immediately eyed lemon water, which I wholeheartedly gulped down as it was so refreshing. * The young waiter gave us menus, but not at the table, then asked us to take a seat and order at the counter when ready. * The menu items looked standard enough but I found the prices quite expensive at first look. * I ordered the«sweet potato pumpkin bruschetta» $ 17.50 — sweet potato, pumpkin, dukkah, Persian feta, kale, beetroot hummus, poached eggs on seeded sourdough. It looked very pretty on the plate and I can probably understand the price for it. It was nice but I didn’t taste feta through it nor do I actually remember seeing kale. One of the two poached eggs was runny, the other was a tad overdone. Not enough seasoning for me personally. * A friend ordered the mushrooms dish and it was a pretty unsatisfactory«mini heap» of mushrooms on one thin slice of toast. At a price of $ 17.50, it kinda blows my mind why it cost this much. Maybe because it has truffle honey? Mushroom foam? * Two friends ordered the breakfast burger of streaky bacon, fried egg, smoked tomato relish, mature cheddar and avocado on toasted polenta brioche bun. While they said they liked the way the burger felt healthy and clean, I just don’t know if it actually is worth the $ 15 price for that single item. Is this what it is like to eat ‘healthy’? Satisfactory enough with taste but pricier? I’m left sitting on the fence with this one. Each to their own of course! Some may say the prices make total sense with the ingredients being used. But at the same time, I’ve had better before that cost half of some of Loco’s items. Hmmm…

Had so many GF& lactose free options! Wait was long but the staff were so friendly about it. Brought over 2GF doughnuts made in store to thank us for waiting — lovely touch. 4 stars as food was a kinda cold but everything else was great.

Places like Little Loco are making my heart beat with glee. Could it be that Brisbane’s dalliance with full-time gluttony is coming to an end? Don’t get me wrong, I’m known to love a good cheeseburger, but day-to-day it’s the simple and healthy eats offered similarly at Little Loco that keep this tummy humming along. Little Loco opens in the space that was Raw Pawpaw. Keeping a similar style of menu, there’s a little less focus on raw foods and additions like bacon as a side, hotcakes and the coffee has been switched over to local roasters Fonzie Abbott. I stopped for lunch and ordered the green breaky bowl which despite the name is easily a «eat any time of the day» bowl. I guess that’s the point of the menu — traditionally breakfast but happily eaten for lunch, too. The bowl is a bountiful mix of kale, spinach, asparagus, broccolini, feta, pomegranate, avocado, pistachio with 2 poached eggs(and a side of bacon). Judging from the time it took for this heavenly meal to be delivered, there’s only but a few hands in the kitchen and all is being made to order. This isn’t a bad thing but if you’re in a rush just be aware. With Autumn finally gracing Brisbane with it’s presence, Little Loco is a casual and relaxed space to enjoy a fuss-free meal, a coffee and raw caramel slice, or a smoothie while soaking up a few rays.
