The coffee is good but the attitude of some of the staff would keep me from coming back.

The wait is killing this place. A take-away coffee takes around 15 – 20 minutes — and cost you $ 4 – 5. A small bottled juice will set you back $ 5. You’ve got a battle on your hands to get a drink served above ‘tepid’. The new design is lovely and airy. The menu hasn’t really changed in the last four years, and is priced out of my league — coffee, juice and avocado on toast is a $ 25+ exercise. The view is still gorgeous. Overall, a place for a lazy breakfast if you can afford it and are willing to wait. Consistently ‘okay’.

Estabar is a fantastically located café that does great food. Perfect for the winter or summer, the location is ideal to observe and relax with ocean views. The coffee and food is great and the service friendly and helpful. often you’ll find a late brunch easily rolls into an early lunch with a menu that never fails to succeed in leaving you filled and happy. With moorish flavours and unique blends of flavours the food will eave you wanting one more bite. It is a cramped/small location perfect for 2 – 3 people. Not great for large groups. The feel and look of the venue is rustic and confortable. Great bustling atmosphere with a emanating vibe of contentful energy from customers. High recommendation for both locals and visitors.

Sensational location right next to Newcastle beach. The staff are friendly and the food and coffee are good. Gets pretty crowded on warm days, but there is a good amount of seating.

This was a place I stumbled on as part of my trip for work. Conveniently located just up the road from my hotel. This place will be absolutely pumping in the summer, if a miserable winters day was any indication. Packed. I had some friendly service from the team, the lady making the coffee did a grand job and was all excited to talk about the single origin that I ordered. The only thing I think going against it — no bacon on the menu. Anywhere. I was confused. But overall a positive experience from my perspective and will be the place to be in the summer.

Ignore the placement on the map, it’s way out! Good coffee, friendly staff, lovely outlook. Awful microwave reheated croissant — why do cafes continue to do this?

So many waterside cafes and restaurants survive exclusively on their location. Estabar is not one of them. They survive on great food, fresh local produce, smart and tasty seasonal menus and probably the best coffee in Newcastle. Oh, and the location isn’t bad! Add to that the great Gelato and Spanish drinking chocolate and the incredibly friendly staff, Estabar is pretty much flawless.

Brilliant place to end a long(or short) walk. The gelato is rich and smooth, perfect for a hot day. The porridge and stewed fruit great for a winter’s morning. Staff are always friendly and efficient. Only negative is its popularity making it hard to get a table.
