Okay so we came here and Whilst on the covered patio it rained like CRAZY! It was so cool to watch the storm roll across the bay and dockside. Local beer selection was great. Had an Angry Man and it was a great beer! We had a large group and Didn’t stress this crew one bit! I got the steak sandwich. Perfectly prepared. And the chips were OFFTHEHOOK. Love the location on the dock side. Great people watching here too! Come and stay a while! You’ll be well cared for.

Last minute late dinner plans lead us to dockyard. The largest cocktail list I have ever seen and in Sunday’s they have happy hour till late! The toffee apple was so delicious and the lychee and mango martini was yum as well. Chicken schnitzel was great good portion. Husband had a burger which was also very good.

In Newcastle for the first time and staying nearby The Dockyard hotel. It had good reviews for food although they seemed to be at least 2 yrs old. I ordered the Fish & Chips and sat at one of the outdoor tables. I sat with my beer for over 40 mins and no food had appeared. I chased it up with the staff and they had a ‘docket malfunction’. The food eventually appeared and was great. The free beer for my trouble appeased the beast.

I’ve been here numerous times over the years and it’s not always that consistent. However, the menu has a good variety, the drink prices are reasonable and the people watching is possibly the best in Honeysuckle. Other bars and restaurants in the area have come and gone but The Dockyard is onto a good thing.

As everyone is talking about the«small bar» scene, it’s worth noting that Dockyard has been here doing well for some time. Blessed with a great Honeysuckle location, this is a must-go for a cool drink on a hot day. Standard pub-food fare, maybe a little overpriced, but a great selection of beers, including some Belgian imports, it’s usually buzzing. Can get a little loud and rowdy at the weekends, often not in a good way, this is still one of the better bars in Newcastle.

I have been to this bar three times now on my various trips to Newcastle, and i have to say that each time it has been really fun. There is always something interesting going on, and the staff create a fun atmosphere that is always welcoming. It will be on my must-do list every time I come to visit Newcastle.
