Ice and slice was yummy, i would go there again. It had many desserts that reminded me of a German Icecream Café.(guest review)

Two years ago, this place was awesome. The pizzas were delicious and fresh, and the gelato was incredible — some of the flavours were impossible to get anywhere else, like the illusive mandarin. Times have changed. The pizzas are greasy and soggy, and very heavy, and the gelato flavours have thinned out to the usual suspects — hazelnut being about the most unusual. There are better restaurants in Newtown, and sadly Ice and Slice is no longer value for money.

Interested in an after dinner coffee, gelato or something completely decadent? Ice and Slice is there for you. While Newtown boasts many the gelato store, and many locals will tell you their fav place for after dinner treats, Ice and Slice is perfect for bigger groups looking for dessert. Particularly the bigger groups who head toward Max Brenner and see that is is completely packed out(no matter what day of the week) It’s a lot bigger inside with lots of larger tables and a cute little outdoor area. They serve decent coffee and always have different cakes in their display. They have a pizza/pasta menu and they serve drinks, however I have only been there for the desserts and coffee.

Decent pizza and ambience. I prefer the gelato at gelatomassi further down king at towards newtown station. I haven’t been in over a year so I will have to have another visit before cementing my opinion.

It is in the marketing that this store succeeds. Another gelato store? Who would think we could possibly fit another one on King Street Newtown, but it does surprising well. As it’s also got great panini, pizza and pasta. As well fabulous sundaes and desert pizzas. I have to go for a sundae they are not cheap — $ 10.90 but by golly are they good. It’s like one of those treats for the taste-buds and you feel so naughty but it’s worth it. Their savoury food is really reasonably priced and on a hot summers night this might be your icing on the cake.

Oh gosh, is there *anything* more appealing than pizza and ice-cream(gelato, really) all in one place? My mouth, it waters at the very memory. Their pizza is served fresh and hot, and their gelato is sweet and cold. It’s like a circus on my tastebuds! As per usual, I ordered the Margarita(pizza) for $ 13. It was marvelous. Perfectly thin and crisp, with melty cheese and my all-time favourite; basil! Just to excite me some more, Ice & Slice serves a wonderful breakfast from 930 am to 4pm, but sadly, only on weekends and public holidays. Bummer.

What a brilliant idea. The two most wonderful foods ever to have come out of Italy, served side by side. Nothing could be more delicious than a slice of crisp, freshly made pizza, rounded off with a creamy scoop of gelato. There’s not much else to say about this restaurant except you must go. The pizza isn’t the type which has been sitting around in a fetid, warm cabinet all day. It’s fresh, traditional and brilliant. Their ice cream is glorious, too. Made fresh on the premises, it’s free of all those yucky preservatives and flavourings. And, if that wasn’t good enough, it’s much cheaper than most ice cream parlours in the area — 1 scoop is only $ 3.70, 2 scoops $ 5.40 and 3 scoops(if you’ve got room) is $ 6.50. As well as cones and cups, you can order gelato cakes or magnificent desserts(all ice cream based, of course). I loved the name and the taste of Squirrel Heaven — a vast mound of hazelnut and pistachio ice cream with hazelnut sauce and almonds. Incredibly rich and almost chocolatey. Of course, they offer a fabulous choice of milkshakes, affogatos and coffees too. What makes this restaurant even better is the little courtyard tucked out the back of the restaurant — the perfect place to unwind with friends, pizza and ice cream. I’ll definitely be back, soon.
