This«cocktail bar» is akin to a shitty local pub that serves crown lager as its fancy beer. Nasty cocktails which taste like what you’d mix yourself when you were 16, accompanied by the delightful atmosphere of teenagers vomiting in a corner. The fact that this bar is amongst the higher rated bars in the area is a joke. Perhaps it’s because it’s the only place open? I chose to end my night early rather than stay for a second drink.

Wow. Do not believe the 4 star reviews, this is a drunken mess of a bar, definitely not a cocktail bar! If you want cheap drinks… then sure, the only reason for positive reviews is it’s open(Sydney laws are retarded!!), otherwise avoid!

A bit of a hidden gem just down from the ever popular Marley Bar. As the name suggests, cocktails are the specialty here, but there’s all the usual beers and ciders as well. The bar itself is a three story affair with bars on the ground and second floors, and a small rooftop terrace area on the third floor with fairy lights and views of the Sydney skyline. While Kuleto’s isn’t the largest bar in Newtown, it’s fairly spacious and doesn’t feel too crowded, and is quiet enough to have a conversation, even on Friday and Saturday nights. The range of patrons is fairly diverse, last time I went there were 18 year olds fresh out of high school all the way to a group who were there celebrating a 50th birthday. The background music playing reflects this, there’s everything from current Top 40 hits to classic David Bowie. As you’d expect the cocktails aren’t cheap($ 10-$ 20 each), but the beers and ciders are around the $ 6 to $ 8 mark which is pretty decent for a place like this in Newtown. They also have a happy hour from 5:30pm to 7:30pm every night where cocktails are 2 for 1, the best happy hour in Newtown.

I will make a note not to mention happy hour… darn. The margaritas at Kuletos were the first I ever tried. It was indeed this place that first introduced me to the drink that would take my heart and liver equally. A transaction that I do not regret in the slightest.

Can’t beat the best happy hour in Sydney, 2 for 1 cocktails 5:30 — 7:30 Monday to Saturday. Then a short list of $ 10 cocktails on Sunday’s. Be sure to try the ever changing food menu and as always the delicious cocktails. The view from the rooftop is particularly delightful on a sunny afternoon and has great ambience at night covered by fairy lights.

I remember being 18 and grabbing a Toblerone before a big night in Newtown. Now in my 30s I grab a Toblerone before a quiet night in Newtown. It is 3 levels separated by street art painted walls. The inside levels have some bar, stool and table seating, the atmosphere is quite closed up and dark. The upstairs level has picnic tables and a far view of the city and has a completely different feel compared to inside. Maybe it is the daylight drinking or my older eyes but it is showing some age, but still if I am in Newtown I will be grabbing a Toblerone.

Luuuuurve the Honeycomb Delight, Toblerone… mmmm! Menu is old, but if it aint broke. the only problem I have is that sometimes one group is soo loud it dominates such a small place and I cant actually hear what my friends are saying. the bartenders glare at the table but say nothing. Im all for fun but lets not take over the place! Love happy hour!

Beautiful cocktails with beautiful ambience to match. A great place to bring friends or even a date. I tried the Red Corvette and a Toblerone. I would definitely recommend both. The Toblerone would be the equivalent of a dessert though, proving to be deliciously heavy. I’d suggest this as the last drink of the night. Can’t wait to go back and try more drinks.

2 for 1 cocktails during happy hour, this is my kind of place! The inside is a little dated and could do with a spruce. We didn’t check out the outside area as I was enjoying being out of the sun. Service seemed to be a bit of hit and miss. The barman was nice enough but when i tried to chat by mentioning I was happy they had both Coopers and Hills Cider on tap he remarked that thee had been no Coopers for 3 days. It was bit odd, but the cocktails were delish so that’s always a win.

Cocktails are fairly cheap, and have a daily 2 for 1 special, which definitely helps. Spread out over three levels with a bar on each, there’s usually enough room to drop by and find a table with friends. The rooftop level is pretty hard to beat when you’re having drinks in summer. Unfortunately the venue. and menu are getting a little dated. Well overdue for a revamp… hopefully one day.

It’s hard not to give this place four stars just because it saw me through many a university-inspired stress attack and has an awesome happy hour… but for such a great space and location, I feel like Kuletos isn’t what it could be. It’s a little dirty, a bit tired and service is unpredictable. The terrace upstairs has the potential to be such an amazing place to hang out(and a great space for private functions) and the downstairs area is big, dark and condusive to romance(ahhh… memories…)… but overall Kuletos has lost some of the spark/energy that can be found in similar bars across Sydney. Despite the tiredness, this is a great bar to start your night(or spend your evening, if you’re not having a big one). Grab some two-for-one cocktails, unwind with friends and transition into a more tipsy, carefree version of yourself. You’ll have a good time, the drinks are great, it’s got a nice vibe… but it could be so much more.

Kuletos is the best cocktail bars hands down. You must make sure to visit during happy hour which is 6 to 730 pm on Monday to Friday where you buy one get one free. Having been a cheap uni student, I can definitely say that one cocktail would be enough to get a light weight Cadbury drunk for a night. If you want value for money, long island ice tea is the way to go. The place ha a lovely ambience, quiet enough to have a conversation, the music loud enough to remove awkwardness and dark enough that everyone looks great even without the alcohol blur filter seeping through. The staff are always lovely and happy to customise your drinks whether it be along island ice tea with diet coke or putting a cherry in a japanese slipper. This bar is worth extending your degree for.

Happy hour is the time to visit here… who can pass up 2 for 1 cocktails. Mon — Fri its 6.00 — 7.30, whereas on Sat its only 6.00 — 7.00 Plenty of great options for you and has multiple levels to spread out over.

I LOVE Kuletos! It’s such a great little bar to start off your night! We went there for Happy Hour, cos really, 2 for 1 cocktails is something you really want to take advantage of. On Saturdays it’s between 6 – 7, so we only had an hour to sample as mant cocktails as we could. Now kids, do not try this at home. We sampled 7 cocktails during happy hour. Toblerone, Legless, Sniper, Red Corvette, Toffee Apple, Fuzzy Berries and Devil in Disguise. So hard to pick a favourite! But I do tend to like the creamier ones, so I think this time I’d have to go with The Sniper — it was chocolately goodness with alcohol — pretty hard to complain. The bar staff are always quick and efficient and great in number so you never have to wait too long to get your cocktail. I was so surprised how quiet it was for a Saturday night at Happy Hour — not complaining though, I do like my bars quiet enough for a chat.

Amongst many Sydney siders, Kuleto’s is an old favourite. During happy hour(6 — 7.30pm Monday — Friday, 6 — 7pm Saturday), the bar’s famous cocktails come at 2 for 1. And let’s be serious — the cocktails are why people come here. They are universally lush, rich, alcoholic and thick, which is exactly what I want in a drink! I’d whole heartedly and unreservedly recommend the Red Corvette — given the prices in Happy Hour, you’d really be silly NOT to get two! It can be extremely crowded — like, standing room only crowded, but it’s still worthwhile; the private courtyard(functions only) is a step up from inside. The crowd is 100 per cent Newtown, which is hardly surprising given its location — but many people make the trip out of their way to come here, including myself! Definitely worth it — the drinks are AMAZING.

Kuleto’s is a longstanding locals favourite, which packs out quickly during Happy Hour(2 for 1 cocktails from 6 – 7.30pm Mon-Fri, and 6−7pm Sat). You need to get in early to secure your table, and then kick back and chill out to the jazzy, funky tunes while sipping on the awesome collection of cocktails. My picks are: — The Sacred Monk — a refreshing concoction of Absinthe, Green Chartreuse, Chambord, watermelon, lime and cranberry juice — The Sugar Hill Punch — Appleton’s Spiced Rum & Apricot Brandy, shaken with torn basil, mango and a dash of orange bitters — The Lady Boy — Kaffir lime leaf infused Vodka, Licor 43& Coconut Liqueur shaken with lime and a hint of chilli — The Spring Martini — muddled cucumber and mint stirred with Bombay Sapphire Gin and a splash of apple juice

There’s a happy hour each day at Kuleto’s Cocktail Bar which boasts a two-for-one cocktail menu. If ever there was an opportunity to try a myriad of sexual innuendo flavoured beverages at an affordable price it is then, in this happiest of hours. It’s a small establishment with bar and table seating as well as a bit of standing room for those who prefer it, or for those who cannot find a seat. The cocktails are tasty, if not a little sweet and it’s always fun to experiment with new and exciting options. Upstairs there is a function room with its own courtyard and serviced bar area. I went there once for a birthday celebration. I drank the beer and sipped the wine. I sat and chatted in the private courtyard, the siren song of various police cars providing a pertinent piece of backdrop ambience, melded with the stereo, a cacophony of inner city drinking sounds creating an individualised symphony for the evening. The moody lighting and classiness of the cocktail bar makes it an ideal place to go for a fancy drink and for something a little bit different to a schooner of pale ale and a late night kebab.

Kuletos makes a mean amaretto sour. To be honest, this may be the only bar where I have been able to order an amaretto sour on request. It was quite refreshing not to have two bartenders confer at a distance: «Do we. .. have. .. amaretto?» «I. .. do not. .. actually know.» «So I should just say ‘no’?» «Probably a good idea.» Thankfully, for everyone else, this is not the only cocktail that Kuletos makes. They have their own range of house drinks, along with all of your staples(the Belligerent Walrus, the Ennobled Scholar, and of course, everyone’s favourite: the Old College Try). Ok, maybe I only make those within the confines of my house, but they do have specialties such as the Lady Boy, the No Mercy, and the Sacred Monk. I haven’t had the chance to make my way up to the newer upper bar section, but the downstairs is a little drab, but don’t let that put you off: the drinks are what shine here.

There’s plenty of places around town that do cocktails but not much better than Kuletos on King Street in Newtown. During it’s daily happy hour where you get 2 for 1 it can become quite crowded and congested in there. But it’s during happy hour that you can sample a couple of cocktails for the price of one. Which is better the banana or strawberry daiquiri? My companion and I were split so we ordered another two. The Toblerone and a Margarita. Nice! Even out of happy hour it’s still a pretty cool place and if cocktails aren’t your thing then there is the standard other drinks to enjoy. There’s even a Pizza menu to help soak up any excess cocktails.

Located in Newtown, a little bit of a walk from the train station, Kuleto’s serves, hands down, some of the best cocktails I have had the good fortune to sample. Classy and laid-back, with dim lighting and mood music, Kuleto’s is a lovely place to just relax for a time, all the while building up your buzz with their amazing cocktails. Although they’re a little bit pricey, I’d say they’re worth it. Try the Lady Boy, it packs a bit of a punch. The Apple and Passionfruit Collins is also quite nice, but the standout was the Toblerone. I have had Toblerones before, but this one was likely the best. The Sacred Monk is also likely to knock you off your feet with the strength of it, but hey, it’s still delicious. Were I a wealthier woman, I’d go here for pre-drinks before every big night out.
