I’ve had water with more flavor. $ 14 for 2 pieces of bland toast, smashed avo and a few crumbles of feta and chile lime chicken«tenders» just pisses me off. Although I was the only patron eating a meal, I noticed ALL of the tables and bench seats hadnt seen a wipe down in a few services. Ew. I could see how this place is a draw for the broody, coffee-drinking poets sitting in a corner, but skip the food.

Coco Cubano is probably one of the most central location along Darlinghurst. A great spot to spend an afternoon or evening just observing life go by as you indulge in some Cuban food. I have always enjoyed coming to this place on any of the occasion in the past I have visited. I normally only come by to have a hot chocolate if I’m in the area. This time however I wanted to sample their food. The place wasn’t too busy on a Saturday afternoon. After a quick look through the menu I decided I was going to have a Cuban Sandwich with a side of slaw. To wash this all down, I opted for an espresso martini. The Cuban Sandwich in the movie Chef in which Jon Favreau plays a chef who sets up a food truck made me crave a Cuban Sandwich so badly. I’m no expert in the sandwich as this one was my first, but I’m keen to learn and if this one is the minimum standard in going to have fun trying them out. The sandwich is sourdough toast, marinated pulled pork, bacon, parmesan cheese, pickles with mustard. A truly delicious combination, thank you Communist Cuba. The sandwich came out on a tray with a cute flag and didn’t look that big but the bread is packed full of ingredients and I loved it. The slaw on the side was tasty with a citrus twist. My espresso Martini was not the best I’ve ever had but at the same time still gave a nice kick of caffeine. My friend went with a Mango Daiquiri which was a good combination of sweet and refreshing. The place was understaffed on the day but the other staff made up for that by being extra friendly and helpful. The venue is pretty cool too, inside decorated with beautiful seats and Cuban memorabilia and outside spacious and seating to watch the world go by. Nice place and food was better then I had expected. Will be back to check out their breakfast.

Went here on a rainy Saturday evening. The window behind the couch I was sitting on was open and couldn’t be closed, so I got a bit wet. But I digress. We came here for dessert — we ordered churros, brownies, and some people in our group had coffees. The churros and brownie were good, but the blondie was just OK.(We’d ordered the double chocolate brownie which comes with one milk chocolate and one white chocolate brownie.) Service was not that good, though. I mean, they were nice, but… my friend had ordered another dessert. After waiting for some time after our other desserts and noticing it had still not come out, we followed up and they said they’d run out of raspberries(or was it strawberries?) Hmm, so if we hadn’t followed up, they wouldn’t have bothered letting us know and refunding our money? Waitress chirpily got us some water, when we requested(they don’t provide it off the bat which is kinda annoying, but usually easily remedied, but not in this case…) She arrived with only two glasses for a table of five, though. Huh?

Love the coffee here, the waffles and ice cream. and we also had breakfast one time. Never tried it at night, although it looks like it’d be a decent bar. Located in a great, lively part of town — coming here day or night is an awesome choice. BONUS: free wifi

Praise the Lord and Lady of the Amazing Coffee Bean, Coco Cubano are faithful servants of you and all your tastiness. Yep, it’s 2015 Mardi Gras. Glitter and fantabulous fun is about. Music pumping from across the road and the scent of coffee in the air from behind us as we sat at the disabled section right outside Coco Cubano. With a purple woman’s wig on my head, my daugher and I walk in and found the place busy. Two mochas and one cappuccino, all large please. Despite the obvious signs of hectic ways with the wonders of Mardi Gras afoot, service was friendly and quick. My coffee was sent plummeting to its death from the counter as it was bumped by another member and recovering way quick. I swear, these people could work as surgeons in Accident & Emergency at our hospitals with such a quick recovery. We’re back to our places, mochas and cappuccino in hand and it’s sip time. BING! I don’t know what bean they use but it was AMAZING. The taste was stand out material and my blood cells quickly regenerated as I felt them buzz in fusion. I am going back to Coco Cubano another time when it’s quieter. I want to try their food and more of their coffee.

Great location for people watching — good selection of food and drinks — great coffee. Don’t order food when it’s very busy though — a few times I’ve gone it’s been at least an hour wait for food.

Hmm we turned up 8.30am on a Saturday morning and it was pretty quiet. Gorgeous day to be sleeping in but we were out and about. There were about 3 tables of people and we ordered our coffee and breakfast. Coffee came quick and was nice. However the breakfast was seriously slow — like 20 mins after our coffees. There was 3 people working and no one else turned up. I’m not sure what they were doing but needless to say my coffee was cold by the time I ate. Shame. Food was ok. I had the tortilla — egg and potatoes. Service was average — don’t think I’ll be back anytime soon. Pity because it’s in a great location and has a good name.

Don’t waste your time. After waiting for 10 minutes for service, we approached staff at the counter to place our order, only to be barked at, «We have table service!». After spending another 10 minutes trying to attract the attention of waitstaff(who weren’t particularly busy) we gave up and left.

Coco Cubano has awesome music and very good mojitos. Service is friendly and the décor is very nice. The free wifi could work sometimes. A good place to spend a pleasant afternoon.

Coco Cubano rocks my calcetines!!! I mean, my socks! I just love the Cuban décor and the upbeat/happy Latin music, whether it’s during the daytime and soaking up in the sun in their outdoor area, or even when it’s night. They’ve got a pretty big space to accommodate to heaps of peeps too and open late. It sits right on the corner of Oxford and Flinders and is a good people watching space. They also have free Wi-Fi so if you want to get some work done, this is also another option as a Sydney Coffice.

Great location, free Internet however food they cook ie breakfast is crap. They don’t have a trained cook and the staff(students) cook and they don’t know how too.(Scrambled eggs or poached eggs are like rubber!) The rest of the food, burgers are ok.

You wouldn’t think that a coffee/chocolate café would have such a following on Oxford street, the home of late night debauchery, but this place turns the combination into something effortlessly cool and stylish. There are dark corners and aged armchairs inside and mismatched chairs and tables that sprawl over quite a big area outside, ideal for people watching on a Saturday night. There is a huge choice of chocolate drinks and coffees, truly in every form and the quirky addition of having cigars on offer makes it feel slightly more related to the café’s namesake, Cuba. A great place to wind down for a night.

If you feel like getting amongst it at Taylor Square, Coco Cubano is your spot. With funky décor and only bottled beers(no taps), the derros that sit outside The Courthouse are filtered by not only the higher drink price but probably also the task of crossing Flinders St. Although this is a Cuban-style chocolate and coffee joint, I tend to come here for a bevvy at night if I want to sit outdoors and soak up some crazy(there is ALWAYS some level of crazy to soak up on Oxford St, gawd love it). So it’s a glass of red or a Corona and an espresso surrounded by cigar boxes and cool Cuban-inspired art. Including presumably ironic pics of Che Guevara who I’m sure would be a HUGE supporter of a capitalist enterprise like this…

Sydney is definitely multicultural and it is clearly evident at Coco Cubano. From the rustic leather arm chairs to the gallery art wall showcasing cuban cigars to the picture of Che Guevara, the cuban essence is hard to miss. I love their Iced coco classics especially the Iced Mulatto(Milk) Chocolate, My friend ordered the Havana Caramel Chocolate which was also very good. I suggest you skip the Flat white here and try the Mocha Negro(Dark), Mulatto(Milk) or Blanco(White). I’ll be back to sample their hot chocolates next time. The atmosphere is a great place to meet friends or just enjoy the summery breeze outside by yourself. It can get busy very quickly though.

Its corner location is truly it’s biggest selling feature, and apart from that I’m not too sure what else it has going for it — but I’m willing to give it a chance to impress me with death by chocolate. I recently went here while waiting for Question mark bar to get more lively, and had a jug of sangria while we waited. Ordering the Sangria took approximately 20 minutes for it to arrive at our table, and it wasn’t even a busy night. You’d think that they may have the fruit mixture prepared before hand, and then easily be able to get some wine and ice to combine it with. Unfortunately(or fortunately) it was all freshly chopped, which at the time felt like an eternity to get a drink. There is a nice dark area at the back, with old leather couches, rustic tables, boutique lights, and over hanging artwork, gives off a trendy artistic vibe — which fits in nicely with the rest of oxford street. I’ll revisit soon for some chocolate cocktails for sure!

When going to Coco Cubano, it’s all about knowing what to get. On many things they fall short of average, however, they do have specialties that are worth a try. The café is known for being one which is open late, this is a savior in a place like Darlinghurst. Late night adventures run throughout the week so it’s definitely nice to be able to grab a coffee or hot chocolate after sunset. Open until 12 am weekdays and 3 am Friday and Saturday nights, its opening hours are like that of a good nightclub or bar. Appropriately, they serve alcoholic beverages. Their sangria is top-notch, try it with either white or red wine. Them Cubans know how to mix fruit and wine together! Cocktails are also a go there, they have some fun selections like coconut flavored Mojitos. Their hot chocolates and coffees are also worth noting. Great coffee beans, awesome chocolate sauces and delicious little chocolates to accompany the drinks. Apart from the little chocolates, avoid the food. It is completely over-priced and reminds me of the stale, bland nibblies you’ll find at Starbucks or Gloria Jeans. Food is not their high point and I have made the mistake of purchasing food from their on late drunken nights, only to be bitterly disappointed. Not even half a bottle of vodka could make their food taste good. The outdoor seating is nice, great to sit out there on warm and busy nights to watch the world go by. All-in-all Coco Cubano is definitely worth a visit, just feast beforehand.

Phhhwwwwaaahhhh! Chocolate and Cocktails, nice mix. And they actually do mix; they have chocolate cocktails. If you’ve been on oxford street before you’ll have seen this corner shop — the big brown and white sign can’t be missed. You get the impression it’s something big, and when you go inside, its not quite what you expect, but its better. Cakes and deserts, and delicate, precious little chocolates behind the glass, cocktail lists u on the board, coffees and other hot drinks as well as tapas for sale. And did I see chocolate pizza too? If you’re a chocolate person, yeah, poke your head in next time your about. This place is pretty cool. Oh, and theres heaps of space out the front, so bring some friends and make it party. I guess that’s the good thing about the location, you can eat dinner, stop in at Coco cubanos for desert, and head out after; all without leaving oxford street. Make a night of it.

Coco Cubano is one of the most popular social spots on oxford street, it has a fantastic location on the corner of Taylor Square and it fully uses this space with it’s tables sprawling out on the sidewalk. It has a vibrant atmosphere as it is packed with tables with chairs or stools and leather lounge and arm chairs making it a comfortable environment. Coco Cubano is great as it is a coffee shop but is also fully liscenced providing the option of a gourmet coffee, The negra dark mocha is amazing which I often go for in the daytime or if you are there in the evening a dacquiri or margarita often hits the spot. I think the place is so popular also at least the reason I like it is all the doors and windows are kept open creating an open space making you feel in the middle of the Oxford Street madness also it is perfectly under-lit with hanging red light globes(very David Lynch). Ooh and they serve Tapas: Potato Bravas(yum), Now I want another Negra.
