I think there is room for improvement here. There a lots of choices. The food is fresh and tasty. And service is prompt and friendly(albeit with a nervous edge). Our waitress was nervous, seemed untrained and a bit lost, but friendly enough. It’s just the little things, like a Ruben is usually piled high with corned beef not just one lonely little slice and more than one(previously not melted and fresh) packet of butter would be a nice touch. Maybe an offer of a glass with ice for drinks purchased at the counter? Just little stuff like that… Good enough just doesn’t really feel up to scratch. I think would be embarrassed to bring an international guest here if I was trying to showcase Perth.

Art of the consumable variety. The«art gallery café» situated in the right ventricle of the cultural center(next to the art gallery, coincidentally enough) is more arty than farty. Maintaining an artistic feel– with the usual display pieces, it also houses a display table at the counter full of brochures, pamphlets, stickers and what’s on guides as well as a generous turnstyle full of your local«Avanti» postercard goodness!!! Free, functional and fitting. On the corner of a wall there is also a 3 tier stylised bookshelf(containing magazines and papers) which melds into a counter with chairs a great visual impact and creative use of space. The café has distinct designs allocated to 3 main categories(decked out accordingly) semi corporate casual alone the side ajoining the gallery with plush couches and traditional table and chairs set up which fades into a casual corner with lower set white tables with hard, squashed marshmellow shaped chairs. The outside area is decked out with umbrellas and is a great viewing space to see the city as well as the art at hand. The service was great, the selection is good and the prices are fairly reasonable– I commandeered a corner couch and enjoyed the company of a little creature(beers priced around the $ 8.50 mark) — as looked out through the full length window at the city– picture perfect.
