My friend and I had been meaning to come to Babooshka for some time due to the rave reviews of the deluxe milkshakes on offer. There are some delicious-looking treats available from several fridges inside but we opted for a dish each from the menu. I ordered the Dukkah Eggs with a Marshmallow and Froot Loops Shake. Holy cow, I could not stop«mmm“ing and«yuuuuuuum“ing over this plate! I’m very much a carnivore but this HUGE vego plate had me falling in luuuurve! Perfectly poached eggs atop a bed of chickpea, spinach and deliciously sautéed mushroom with a slab of fried haloumi and dusted with crunchy Dukkah. A few slices of(I’m not sure what type) crunchy toast — pure bliss! The shake($ 10) came in a modest size jar with a handle, you know the type, very on trend right now. I just don’t know that I loved it. It was sweet, REALLY sweet. Made me feel slightly less guilty that I’d asked for it to be made with skinny milk. The sediments(blended Froot Loops) that settled at the base of the drink made for a strange texture and my mouth literally just couldn’t. My home girl had the Tsar’s Breakfast and a Golden Gaytine shake, enjoyed both thoroughly. Notable point, our meals both came, shortly followed by my partner in crime’s shake. My drink arrived when I was about half way through my meal which was quite some time later. A window of opportunity for improvement BUT we left full and satisfied.

Three of us headed to Babooshka for brunch on a Saturday — I wanted to try it out as I’d seen the menu online and liked the look of it. Unfortunately it didn’t quite deliver… The food was a bit lacking — the ingredients were all there but hadn’t been combined with any flair. It was lacking flavour and was pretty average. I don’t think we’ll be returning. Coffee was good though!

Hidden away in a little laneway in the heart of Northbridge is the ‘oh so gorgeous’ Babooshka bar. Bringing back the all day breakfast and some serious milkshakes, Babooshka is definitely worth a visit. The triple donut choc-coated bacon shake ticks all the boxes for a ridiculously indulgent milkshake that definitely doubles as a meal… for two. Pull out the stretchy pants for this outing, you’re going to them.

I visited here for a Sunday brunch with a friend. The places was busy but we managed to grab a table outside in the corridor. The Boston bean eggs was nice but I felt like they were nothing special. My friend ordered a golden gaytime milkshake and that was the highlight of our meal I’d say. I did also have to go back in and request milk for my tea which I found unusual. A nice place but I’d personally prefer to see what else Northbridge and the city had to offer for brunch spots before returning. For a crazy milkshake fix however this is a place to consider visiting!

Since I’m a sucker for sweet things, I came back here for a second try. Ordered the French toast this time. It was an half hour wait for a plate of toast, which was kinda ridiculous, but hey, at least they warned me this time! The toasts themselves were quite… sad. The plating was beautiful, but the actual taste was just a big fat NO. The first two slices on top soaked up pretty much all the syrup sauce, leaving the other two slices dry, bland and basically dying on the plate. The strawberry slices were a nice touch… but come on, two slices?! Really?! Not even a whole strawberry?! Anyways, another disappointing attempt.

Babooshka has been on my list of places to visit for breakfast for some time, although I had never made it until I discovered that they open at 8am on weekends, not 9am as it says on their website(for me, the earlier the better). It’s located at the end of a small arcade on William Street right next door to Superstar Waffles, another place I wish would open for breakfast — at least I know where it is now! I’m not sure what I was expecting, but this rather small café wasn’t it — I think the«bar» at the end of their website address threw me. Coffee is from Perth-based Blacklist Coffee Roasters, and I tried a short macchiato which was fantastic. A great start. If you follow any Perth food-based Instagram accounts, you’ll have no doubt seen at least one of the shakes from Babooshka. Milkshakes are one of my favourite things, and it’s something that I’m happy to see finally hitting Perth in a big way. If it wasn’t for these I probably would never have gone to Babooshka, and there was no way I was leaving without trying one. Narrowly resisting the salted caramel and popular marshmallow-fruit-loop creation, I tried the Golden Gaytime($ 10), which was just like drinking one. Very clever — presumably they’re using the newly-available ice cream. This was a seriously decadent breakfast drink, but who cares when it’s this good? My only gripe would be that real cream would have been nicer. So onto the food. I tried the French toast with banana and macadamia crumble($ 16.50), and I’m sorry to say that although it looked very attractive I found it rather uninspiring to eat. The French toast was chewy and tasteless, and the bananas not really caramelised. The crumble wasn’t particularly crunchy, either. Renay ordered simple poached eggs on toast($ 12), and although the eggs were perfectly cooked the bread wasn’t very nice and it was all a bit plonked on the plate. Other options include Boston Beans with poached eggs & toast($ 17.50) and the«Tsar’s breakfast» with poached eggs, speck bacon, boston beans, spinach & haloumi on toast(an eye-watering $ 24). There were a selection of baked goods on the counter which looked rather good. So our visit to Babooshka was a mixed bag. It’s definitely worth a visit to try one of their milkshakes, although competition is rapidly increasing in that area. I couldn’t fault the coffee, but the food was disappointing.

This tiny little café located in an arcade can be hard to find. It has pumping music, hipster staff and a casual feel to it. They have both indoor and outdoor seating with little babooshka dolls as salt and pepper shakers on the tables. I had the dukkah eggs for breakfast — poached eggs, sourdough toast, haloumi, chickpeas and mushrooms for 19 dollars and a skinny latte. The coffee was over brewed and came out really dark rather than creamy. But the dukkah eggs were delicious. Other options include the tzar breakfast.

Love this little hidden gem. Good friendly staff with tasty food. They use local coffee roasters Blacklist from South Perth which is a thumbs up from me!

Definitely one of the best tasting coffees going in Perth. As I don’t get in here too often it has become a treat. Sometimes when I get to the city too early to go to work I go to Babooshka & even if they are not open fully they will always get you a coffee. I did notice that they weigh the coffee granules before making the coffee just to get it right. That’s what you call standards. This place is well worth a visit if you are a coffee lover.

A cute little café with a fairly simple menu though the prices were quite high and there wasn’t much choice if you didn’t want a drink with non regular milk. Nice service and a good place for a nice breakfast.

I’m not sure if their aircon was broken or if they don’t have one, but it was extremely stuffy in there. I think sitting in the corridor and getting the outdoor breeze might have been a better idea for us. We were too lazy to move, so we just sweated it out. Though by the end of our breakfast, I have to admit I was getting a little too warm. My fellow diner’s order of buddhas tears tea($ 5.00) was beautiful in a clear glass teapot. It comes out with a countdown timer, which gives a little alarm noise a couple minutes later signalling that the tea is brewed and ready to drink. A nice touch. I love this flavour tea, with it’s beautiful jasmine aroma and unopened tender white pekoe buds. There’s something quite magical about watching the tea spheres dance in the hot water, infusing slowly. I think the serving size is great for the price too! She also opts for the Tsar’s breakfast($ 24.00) which is Babooshka’s version of a big breakfast. She orders gluten-free toast($ 1.50) to replace the normal toast, and it comes out underneath poached eggs, speck bacon, Boston beans, spinach and avocado. Initially when I saw the eggs I immediately thought they were overcooked, but they were actually quite spot on — a golden river of yolk spilling out onto the plate as her fork pierces the surface. The gluten free toast is not two but three slices, and crisp little vessels stacked with the other ingredients. For $ 24, I think I personally would have expected something a bit flashier or more generous in the meat department. I’m not sure when it happened that big breakfast’s crept over the $ 20 mark — so when I see pricier ones I expect good things. I decide to go for something lighter and choose the watermelon salad with natural yoghurt, mint and chia seeds($ 9.00). I also opt for a cheeky side of haloumi($ 4.50) because well — it’s squeaky cheese, how can I resist! The watermelon is fresh and crunchy, the sprinkling of chia seeds offers some little savoury crisp flakes that stay hard even when they fall into the creamy yoghurt. Even though it sounded weird, I’m so glad I ordered the haloumi as it offered little intermittent bursts of salty goodness in between bites of the watermelon salad. In my mind it was the ideal sweet and salty combo! I think without it, my dish would have been quite plain as the watermelon wasn’t sweet enough — you definitely are subject to the luck of the draw whenever buying watermelon. Outside of the hot insides of Babooshka and some little food tweaks, I enjoyed trying out this new brunch spot in Northbridge. I did think that the food took awhile to come out(around 30 minutes) but considering the size of their kitchen and that there were only two staff members working, it wasn’t completely surprising. Perhaps an extra person or two on board might speed things up a little. And for those of you who love your caffeine pick-me-ups, from what I hear they do a mean coffee too.

Nice coffee and a decent menu, plus free sparkling water for the table which is a nice touch. The menu is really appetizing and innovative too, not just the same standard Perth breakfast fare. I would have to say that what really makes this café is the attitude of the staff. Due to a bit of a whoopsy-daisy they forgot to make my meal and I had to go up to the counter 35min after ordering to prompt them, but they made me a delicious breakfast in record time, all the while apologising profusely, PLUS they gave me a free coffee for my troubles. So if you’re after a lazy brunch or even a quick morning coffee on the way to work, Babooshka is the place to go for staff who will bend over backwards to make sure you have a pleasant experience :)

Came here for my last breakfast in Perth. It was delicious, but I wouldn’t say anything out of this world delicious. I ordered the big breakfast(I think that’s what it was called) and the portion was decent size for me. I think my boyfriend was still a little hungry afterwards though. We ordered smoothies as well(mine being the date, honey and almond one) and that was out of this world! I really really liked it. All in all, good food and good customer service. For my boyfriend and I, total bill came to about $ 60 for breakfast. A tad bit pricey but good location, customer service and food.

We arrived at Babooshka just before 7am and although the staff were busy setting up, they took the time to show us to a table and provided us with menus to peruse. I must say we received standout service, so kudos to the staff. After some deliberation, I settled for the Dukkah eggs which were served with braised chickpeas, kale, avocado, haloumi, mushrooms and toast. The chef was kind enough to tweak the recipe for me, so that my eggs came out hardboiled instead of poached. I enjoyed my meal immensely and found the mélange of flavours truly interesting. The macchiato was excellent with a lovely, creamy finish to it. I was pleasantly surprised to find that sparkling water is provided free of charge. The fit out is fun and the babooshka salt and pepper shakers are cute and provide pops of colour which make you smile. I purchased a chocolate brownie and devoured it later at morning tea. Might I add, it was the most wonderful brownie I have had in Perth! It had all the hallmarks of a classic brownie — chewy with a bit of crunch! I can hardly wait for my next visit — looking forward to trying the panna cotta with the berries, looks lush!

Props for being open every day of the week and serving sparkling water — the coffee is from the folks at Sprolo and it’s probably one of the best on William St. The Boston Beans and their amazing array of condiments made my day, but the French Toast could have used some more refinement. A cute fit out with plenty of potential in this popular Arcade, looking to see more from them!

It is great to have an all day m, seven day a week venue return to this part of North Bridge; better yet they are offering a couple of easy to understand items and some more interesting alternatives too. The staff are nice, but at least on my visit were overwhelmed with orders arriving piecemeal and coffees going to the wrong tables — they need table numbers just an opinion of course :) I will be checking in here again in the near future to try some of the other items; we shared a Koko Black milkshake and Banana smoothie, plus their take on the classic big breakfast; everything was nice — extremely crispy bacon

Amazing coffee, creative food, excellent service & inviting décor… It’s immediately apparent that the trio behind William St arcade’s newest addition know what they’re doing! There are tables in the sun made from large cable reels or you can grab a window seat with the paper. Babooshka joins a raft of great eats in the arcade including Francoforte pasta bar, Is Donburi Japanese, sweet treat Superstar Waffles & small bar Ezra Pound. A must go!

The presentation of the food occasionally needs a bit of work but each meal I’ve had has been delicious. The ‘Babooshka’ is a fantastic dish with the right balance of horseradish that is flavoursome but not overpowering. Also a big fan of their crispy haloumi, always cooked to perfection.
