i LOVE it here. The hot chocolates are Amazing. best in Perth by far. they actually use melted chocolate… none of this over expensive powdered stuff, but real chocolate… although they make it so perfectly that its not too sickly… just the right amount of chocolate vs milk. Its like drinking a bar of cadburys chocolate… the staff are great and friendly too.

Fantastic! The coffee here is superb and the food is just as good. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The prices aren’t too bad either. Definitely worth a visit!

I dropped into Bench Espresso this afternoon to grab a coffee before a meeting. It was recommended to me by my sister who works in the East End of the CBD. What a great little café, it’s just a shame it’s about a kilometre in the wrong direction from my work. Today I sat in and only ordered a long black coffee, the service was excellent and the coffee was delicious, the other reviews already on Unilocal are spot on. Seating is available inside and out! I am told that it can get busy and there is up to a 15 minute wait for coffee in the morning rush!

In this bit of town the coffee only needs to be good to be a standout but the coffee is awesome. Highly recommend the single origin — they know what there doing with that coffee machine. I have had the food which isn’t bad either, normally a line but that’s what you’ve gotta expect when the coffees this good.

If you are up this end of the city it can be hard to find good coffee. Bench Expresso is a great take away coffee option. Great service too. With a few tables there is an option to done in also but tables are not always available.

Bench espresso. Coffee culture in a perfect location! And by that I mean, right by my work! Beautiful coffees and beautiful fresh made, wholesome breakfast food and snacks! On a hot day, even their iced lattes are beyond amazing! To top it off, service with a smile, and awesome design concepts. Definitely winning the coffee war!

Amazing espresso/cappuccino. I’m a connoisseur of two things: vietnamese soups. Coffee. And yoga studios. Ok three things. Coffee here is bomb. Huge thumbs up.

I’ve never considered myself a coffee snob but after being spoilt with daily coffees from my barista fiancé I can now definitely tell the difference between someone who knows what they are doing & someone that doesn’t. It turns out the crew at Bench really know what they are doing! I had my first coffee from Bench last week & it was delicious! This place gets pretty busy in the mornings(and now I understand why) but the coffee is definitely worth the wait!

Well there were benches but ironically for a shop named after furniture, a lack of seating. Perfect stools to sit at if you like that crowded subway feel as you sip your latte. Customers ordering and waiting fill what little space is available and occasionally elbow you in the back for good measure. And benches… surely the least welcoming and most uncomfortable of all seats. Come get a coffee at my new shop ‘Plastic Chair’ — opening soon. The coffee was good(great for Perth). But it isn’t the place to linger over a coffee. One for the business crowd.

I have the good fortune to have one of Perth beat coffee joints so close to work(see West Australian Barista Brew-offs). But whilst it is well know that they love their coffee, enjoy chatting to their customers about the nature of today’s single origin coffee; what maybe a surprise is that they put as much passion into their selection of quality ingredients for their paninis. Of course like many coffee shops they also have tasty treats, the difference here again is the thought they put into choosing something a little different.

Thought I’d walk the extra distance to sample the coffees here. Tiny complex but once I tasted the product I could see where all the reviews were coming from. Skinny cappuccino, absolutely perfect.

A great spot to call in for coffee — well made espressos and even some single origins available as a filter. These kids clearly know what they’re doing and helped keep my peepers open on a recent trip to Perth.

There‘s been a buzz about how perfect Bench Espresso‘s coffee is, so I just had to try it out for myself. The coffee was fantastic and the service was SO friendly. I‘m looking forward to trying out some of the food next time. These guys really are setting a new *cough* benchmark for the quality of coffee in Perth.

Since I moved down the terrace, I had to hunt for a new coffee place that is near this end of town. During one of my ventures, I found Bench and I have been going there every morning since. This cute little coffee bar has everything you want for a good cup of coffee: a few tables to sit at, very cool decorations and one of the best coffees in town. If I have to criticise it, I would probably say, the coffee is a bit more expensive than what you would normally pay — $ 5 for a «large» Mocha(but this is probably because they use Belgian Coverture chocolate!). The large size is equivalent to a normal size in other coffee shops. However this doesn’t stop me from going back there everyday. Does that tell you how good this place is?

I am being very selfless here by writing about this place. It makes me crave coffee to the extreme so you can thank me later :). The coffees presentation for a start is a five star job, and then there is the taste. Wow. That is basically it, one word. It is creamy, yet balanced out by the perfect taste of yummy coffee beans. It really is one of my favourite coffee shops in Perth. Please go here if you love coffee as much as me.

Why oh why do I continue to review coffee places when I don’t drink coffee? Because my friends, who are normal, do drink coffee and continually drag me various places to obtain their caffeine fix. They’re apparently necessary for days out with me. I can’t judge, I feel the same affinity and necessity with chocolate. Which is exactly why Bench Espresso is awesome: the BEST hot chocolate I’ve had in a long time. So you don’t even need to be a coffee nut to enjoy this place — chocoholics will find themselves having a very zen experience there, too.

At the less travelled East end of Hay St is Bench Espresso. It’s a nifty little coffee bar with a straight-edged, modern interior, coloured in lime green, deep purple and industrial grey. Bench is one example where I encourage you DO judge a book by its cover because the coffee is all kinds of amazing. Perfectly balanced and unbelievably creamy, I put it firmly in my top 3 coffee stops in the CBD. Bench also use exquisite Belgian coverture chocolate to create some delicious mochas and hot chocolates. I promptly changed my order from cappuccino to mocha when I saw the girl ladling velvety, liquid chocolate out of a hot pot. I never regretted my decision, because it was seriously THE best mocha I have ever had the pleasure of drinking Office workers also jump at the range of fresh toasties on offer at Bench; they all look as if made with the same effort as has the coffee. Good on Bench for going the extra mile on that one; I would have given them a 5 star on coffee and hot chocolate alone.
