As far as dim sum goes, it’s alright. The BBQ pork buns were lovely and I really enjoyed the chili oil. It’s the service that needs immense work. Went here on a Sunday evening with five people and one member of our party waited 45 minutes until her meals came out when the rest of us had already been served. A 45 minute wait for spring rolls and garlic greens? Yikes. Even after asking several times where her food was. It really disjointed our dining experience. All of us were forced to eat before our meals got cold. When she finally received her meal, she felt rushed because we had all finished. I doubt I’ll be back.

This is a regular for us when looking for authentic sichuan food. Service is always friendly and fast. Can’t not recommend their chilli fish, the best version any where in Perth, plus the mapo tofu.

I’ll agree with some of the other Unilocalers in that it’s a little strange not having a trolley come and deliver you the goods. This meant a extended period or waiting time compared to traditional yum cha serving restaurants. A plus side to being able to order was the the food was cooked fresh! And I forget how much of an impact this can be with Asian food! Dumplings were steamed beautifully and you could eat them with out the skin breaking in your chopsticks! Meat and seafood was fresh and the textures were playing in my mouth. Ans fresh roe was used! I am so sick of places using the fake ‘stain’ or roe than just getting the real stuff! Pork buns, spare ribs, shanghai dumplings are my favourite picks! I like that they are open for yum cha in the evening– hits the spot for those late afternoon cravings!

I went to this restaurant to celebrate Chinese New Year, The waitress from Taiwan was absolutely beautiful and polite. I ordered special fried rice and black pepper beef fillet. The food was delicious. I noticed small piece of chicken made its way into my pepper beef dish. I’m not sure how this happened but was told by my friend that I should not complain because it was a bonus. The dish sizes were large and this restaurant provides containers to take away your left overs.

Need To Know’s about Emma’s Dim Sum: — Firstly if you’re looking for this place, don’t look out for«E-M-M-A». She’s an elusive dame this Emma and her name be seen nowhere on the frontage. Seek the words«Café Delight» and you’ll find her. — No trolleys, which is sort of part of the yum cha fun fiasco. I actually found this to be a plus though, if you’re not down with the dim sum chaos. Without the constant barrage of bamboo steamers and plates, we were able to relax and enjoy uninterrupted Unilocaler banter. — Food. If New Moon is now my benchmark for a quality dumpling, these are a lesser product. Pork buns weren’t the fluffiest, but the innards were rich and delicious. I was not a fan of the Spicy prawn dish. It was a bit over fried and featured an unusual component — french fries.(???) Other stuff: — Clean, modern décor with the token garish chandeliers — Service was A-OK — Private dining rooms available. Overall I wasn’t disappointed but equally wasn’t thrilled.

Even though I grew up eating dim sum and yum cha, I had never tried it in the evening so when there was a Unique Unilocal Event centred around dim sum at night, I decided to take the plunge. Another crazy thing was to head to an untried place. Emma’s Dim Sum Café Delight is spacious and bright. They have two private rooms available for private functions/parties. Something to remember if wanting to celebrate an occasion away from the bustle of the main restaurant. In the evenings, the dim sum menu is limited to the steamed varieties. The ingredients used were fresh and all their dumplings are full of flavour. Their sui mai was made of pork and prawn meat with the prawn meat clearly visible unlike in some establishments that turn the combination into mystery meat. The ordering system of dim sum here is directly from the menu at night. Also when visiting at night for dim sum, be sure to ask for the dim sum menu as the default menu you will be given is the dinner menu. The big plus is that you can order from both menus. The staff were magnificent with a table that kept the orders flowing and coped with a few last minute changes on desserts. The jelly and sago coconut is wonderful. As someone allergic of melon, there are so few places where I can partake in this dessert as melon is a common ingredient in sago desserts. Will be back in future to sample the entire dim sum menu.

Nice one Jacqueline B for organising a UYE here. I was positively bursting with dim sum goodness after last Thursday’s catch up. I hadn’t spotted this restaurant before, it’s located just off the main William Street drag, it doesn’t have much signage and is set back far from the pavement on Newcastle Street. We ate a heap of food, here were the highlights: Steamed Shanghai pork dumplings — pick them up with your hands to avoid piercing them, let them cool, then suck out the soup and pop the remaining pork dumpling into your mouth — my fave by far. The steamed prawn and vegetable dumplings — also a standout, super fresh chunky prawn, what’s not to love? I tried the peanuts in vinegar, which I’ve never had before, and were very enjoyable. It’s wonderful dining with a big group of new friends, you get to try dishes you never knew existed before. I also fond out I am not a fan of chicken feet… at all. There were a few hiccups with service, they only 3 menus of the dim sum items(and we had 12 people at our table). They also had ran out of some of the items, especially the dessert items(no custard tarts — what?!), but apart from that service was friendly and fast.

Emma’s in Northbridge is bright, spacious, clean, busy… all good signs for a restaurant on a Thursday evening. The service is quick and efficient, and the food is fresh. All good signs for our first experience there this evening. We came for a dim sum dinner with a big group of groovy Unilocalers and enjoyed every dish. In the evening, the full dim sum menu/trolley service is not available but you can order straight from the steamed and dessert menus, as well as their extensive a la carte dinner menu. The siew mai, chilli squid, juicy dumplings and barbecue pork buns were highlights for me this evening. We’ll be back for the full dim sum menu on a weekend morning. Review update to come… Tip: I noticed two private rooms with big tables in them for private functions. I’ll keep that in mind for a future birthday celebration!

As soon as we arrived we were able to score a seat which for Sunday morning dim sum is just shy of a miracle! We were a little confused on arrival whether it was menu or trolly service. Only very few of the staff spoke english so it took a while to figure it all out, but once we were eating we didn’t much mind! There is a trolly but it only comes round every so often so menu ordering is the far better option for speed and freshness. The staff were very attentive and friendly and the food was really tasty — the pork dumplings and chilli squid were a touch over cooked but I think Emma’s has the best xiao long bao I have had in Perth! The décor is minimalist and tasteful and there is outdoor seating which would be awesome on a sunny winters day. Emma’s is open late as well, I am thinking my next visit will be for dinner!
