We stopped in at the Riverside café, bar and restaurant for a coffee and cake before the Elite Unilocal event at Boat Collective. We ordered and checked in and then I read the reviews on Unilocal.I have no idea why this place has such a terrible rating. When we walked in we were welcomed by a waitress who offered us menus. We ordered coffees and cakes and paid and then found somewhere to sit. There were a few tables of people having a late lunch. Our coffees and cakes came out very quickly and shortly after we were bought water. We didn’t even ask for water so I was very happy that it was brought out, we had been in the sun for hours. It is quieter here, than the other side of the jetty where The Lucky Shag is. The coffee was really good and so was the lemon meringue. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would absolutely recommend this place.

Riverside Bar and Restaurant has prime real estate in Barrack Square. The outdoor seats have a stunning view of the river. The menu is not especially creative, mostly serving finger foods, sandwiches, pizza, pasta etc. We enjoyed a couple of ciders(on tap). The linguine prawn($ 26) had a rich creamy sauce, fragrant with garlic, and with a nice little kick of chilli. The creamy chicken pappardelle($ 24) had a similar heavy white sauce, salty bacon, and salty shavings of parmesan. Honestly, both dishes were a little too rich and heavy, but at least the prices are not too horrific(especially not with our Scoopon discount). Lunch will cost about $ 20 – 25. Tourists will probably enjoy the view, but the food is nothing to rave about so I doubt they get a lot of return local business. Service was friendly and helpful.

Prohibitively expensive coffee and disorganised service. I’ll never come back here. $ 11.50 for two medium coffees? Daylight robbery. And that was after the 10 mins it took me to get served. Lovely interior though, and right on the barrack st jetty, but next time I’ll just walk a bit further and go to sassy’s.

What fabulous service in a beautiful and convenient setting. Whether it was offering drink options, dishing out complimentary seasoned popcorn(yum) or providing service at our table we were so impressed with the friendly and helpful wait staff who attended us all afternoon. Set on the swan river at the Barrack jetty amidst the ferrys it’s a great spot to enjoy the views and convenient if you miss your boat and need a spot to nurse your frustrations. We saw a sign for $ 15 pizzas and pastas during the week, and from the pizza we saw come out to the table next to us they look down right scrumptious. This place is worth a look. Next time you’re at the foreshore forgo the Lucky Shag and enjoy some class at this joint.
