The bistro is now JP’s kitchen and the food is great. Get the specials. Pub food prices but much better quality. A real surprise for a local watering hole.

Great local for a cheap schooner or 5 in the big open beer garden. Always filled with groups of locals catching up in the afternoons. Used to come here a lot during the $ 5 steak era(RIP). But after a string of failed culinary enterprises(including thai) there is new blood in the kitchen and a new $ 10 steak special that I might just have to try. Occasionally I make it down here on a Friday night for the meat raffle(provided by one of the best butchers in Sydney!). I really shouldn’t be advertising this as if you show up and buy tickets my odds wont be so great…

The«Cuntsbury» or «Cuntington» is a solid local. Sometimes the drunk afternooners can come across a bit scary, but they’re actually well mannered and have never bothered anyone. The bistro goes from ok to good depending on who is running it(changes hands fairly regularly, currently we are in a good phase). As someone else mentioned, plenty of TVs for sport and cheap drinks. What else do you want in a local? P. S. Sometimes we go to the White Cockatoo for a change of scenery, there’s more younger people and enormous schnitzels…

Local watering hole for the Petersham area. It is a really big venue, with something for everyone, including happy hour with cheap schooners. They are always trying to lure people in by advertising incredible drink specials on big game nights, like the Rugby world cup. They have many T. V screens for sports bar facilities. There are pool tables and you can go here as a female and not be hounded by males, it is a civilised venue. The staff are friendly and the food in the bistro will fill an empty hole in your stomach.
