Started with the bread and balsamic followed by two orders of their barramundi. Good dish, rich sauce. Nice wine selection too

Was OK. We went sorta late but did not know they switched over to a limited bar food menu before we got there. Service was sorta weird, only a few other patrons there. Food was OK, sorta pricey. Nice location though sitting outside under the trees.

Probably the best food, server and atmosphere I have had in AU. Food was hot, delicious. Ordered side of hot crusty bread. Spot on!!! As we were ordering the drinks and food and she was entering on her electronic pad before she finished the order the drinks arrived delivered by the bartender. Great touch Truly recommend this as a place toner and enjoy

We booked at Zinc for 7:30pm. We arrived slightly early and waited for 20 minutes to be seated. The guy running front of house was flustered, inefficient and not pleasant. We debated about just leaving, but felt bad because we’d booked. Eventually we were seated at an inside table just next to the kitchen. We asked them to seat us an outside table but we were told that outside tables were fully booked even though they were not even half full. Eventually we had to leave.

Went here with my family(partner, 2 small kids) on a Tuesday night. We made reservations at 515 because I’m weird like that. But by 6, the place was at about 75% capacity. The kids split a kids-sized spaghetti bolognese and the ciabatta with oil and vinegar. My partner and I split the bruschetta, while she had the mushroom risotto and I had the garlic prawns spaghetti. We both had wine. All up it was around $ 110, but the kids are free(due to a promotion). These kids are notoriously picky eaters and they inhaled the spaghetti. My partner loved her risotto and I couldn’t stop eating the garlic prawns spaghetti. It bruschetta was very tasty as well. Service was excellent and we lived the atmosphere. The soundtrack(classic crooners such as Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra) was great too. The kids loved the fish in the bathrooms also. I’d definitely go back, and you should too. Yes, you.

Great atmosphere and impressive menu. The food was fresh and creative — if you want a nice, trendy date night this is a good place to go! I had the calamari and my husband had a fish dish, we were both satisfied, plus dessert was delicious! Cool fish tank in the bathroom as well.

Nice building design to catch the evening breeze. Good beer on tap. Good child’s menu. Unfortunately by the end of our main meal three words sum it up: Trying too hard. Good attentive service and our waiter knew the specials, couldn’t really fault the floor staff. But the food wasn’t working– entrees were too rich and filling, although the flavours were good, and the mains were lacking — chicken over cooked and sauce flavour didn’t work together. Market fish was thread fin and served as fish and chips — the fish part was battered and fried well, but the chips had that flowery taste, maybe they had been frozen. Overall good pub food but this is supposed to be high end dining. We didn’t stay for desert and I was put off by the scratched and cracked covers over the cakes. There are much better options in pt Douglas.

Great location, very handy if you’re staying near town. The food was okay, but not great. For an entrée we shared the Chinese five spiced calamari. The calamari was very heavily battered, something you’d expect from a take away, not a restaurant. The menu said that the calamari came with a sweet potato purée, but we all thought that it was pumpkin. The flavours didn’t work together. For a main I had the tagliatelle ragu alla bolognese. It was okay. The menu said it had«ground black Angus beef» but it was more like regular minced beef. The ladies at the table had the crusted salmon fillet. They both said it wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t amazing. I would have given this dinner a 3 or less but the staff were fantastic, they were great with our children and the children’s menu is really good. The trip to the bathroom is also a very random but fun surprise. So all up the score goes up to a 4 even though the adult meals themselves weren’t very satisfying and probably worth a 2 to 3 score.

Great food here. Steak was perfect! I mean it! So Tender. Service was also great, we were well looked after, but the food was exceptional. My daughter had the Duck which was also cooked to perfection.(I had to try some). Yum. Desert was just more Yum — Caramel 3 ways… Also you have to check out the toilet! Amazing view!!!(I’ll let you find out what I mean)

Having just stepped off the plane and dropped our bags at the hotel, we were looking for somewhere to unwind. Zinc was perfect. We sat by their tropical garden and enjoyed some lovely cocktails and appetisers — don’t miss the bruschetta. A wonderful main course and bottle of wine followed. The food was excellent, as was the service. Highly recommended!

Stopped here on out last night in port douglas and can’t recommend it highly enough. Service was excellent and the food was amazing, a perfect end to a great holiday. We had the pesto barramundi and the prawn spaghetti — both were very Tasty but the prawn spaghetti dish was particularly flavoursome and very generous with the prawns. For dessert we tried the cookies and cream cheesecake and the brûlée. The brûlée was one of the best I’ve ever had.

Loved everything about this place from the ambiance, the service, the food and the owner. Everyone went out of their way to make sure we had a top notch experience. I called at the last minute to see if I could get a reservation. The owner said all of the tables were full but he would work with me if I could get there quickly. So I hooped on the bus and over I went. Once there, I was warmly greeted and given a choice of a couple of tables. All of them were fine and yet the owner kept apologizing that the«good tables» we’re all reserved. Hey, it was me that called at the last minute. .. . No problem sitting anywhere! And this place is really cute, so I find it hard to even think that there are good tables and less than good tables. There is the inside area which is more for, al set with linens and wooden furniture. And then there is a side patio and one out front with metal tables and chairs and no linen tablecloths but you get to sit outside. Both are winners in my opinion. And if you get a chance, check out the restroom. I wasn’t even planning to go but my server encouraged me(hey! I told you they were helpful!) and I’m glad she did! I ordered my usual martini and it was fantastic. My friend likes old fashioneds which are sometimes difficult to get made properly but whoever was at the bar did an amazing job! Our server was quick to suggest a few specialties and soon we began our feast. I started with the beef carpaccio and trust me, this has to be the largest serving of this I have ever seen. But it was delicious! And my friend had the salmon cake special which was equally as good. For our entrees, I had the pork fillet and my friend had the chicken special of the night. Again. Terrifically prepared and served by some really friendly and helpful servers. I was too full to even attempt dessert at this point but they had some at the table next to me and it looked«calorie worthy». So for some great food and service, be sure to check out Zinc the next time you are in Port Douglas. You’ll be happy you did. Oh and take it from me. .…the bathrooms are worth a visit too!

Zinc is a good restaurant. Had broccoli cauliflower soup and was well done. We also had beef ragu and kangaroo salad and they were both well prepared and well presented. The wine selection is solid. The service as we have experienced in port douglas is pretty spotty but the service at zinc is similar to other pd rest. As mentioned in other reviews our wait staff had been working for a only for a month.

Upper-end bistro style dining in the heart of Port Douglas. I’ll get straight to the point, we absolutely loved this place! The service was fantastic; they knew every dish on the menu inside out, were friendly & they really looked after us(no mean feat when feeding Vegetarian Girl & Nut Allergy Boy). Front of house wasn’t the only success though, the food was great too; would very much recommend the mushroom risotto which was rich & velvety without being gluggy(is that a word?) & the Zinc house salad(no kangaroo, no peanuts [see what I mean?]) was a delicious fresh mix of textures & flavours. Also, make sure you save(or make some) room for desert, you wouldn’t want to miss out on the sticky date pudding or pear & rhubarb crumble with crème anglaise! Nom!

We dined here multiple times in the past and twice this year. On both occasions this year the food was good but not great. The specials are always worth paying attention to and the Baramundi is their signature dish. The bar is well stocked for Port Douglas, which translates to average by a Melbourne standards, they do a great cocktail(or 3). Service was friendly and informed however meals and drinks were extremely slow in arriving and staff weren’t all that attentive(and this is from someone relaxing on a holiday). Id recommend it as a 5th choice only.

The food and service here were fabulous! I had the special which was a barramundi fish and salmon on jasmine rice with a curry sauce — absolutely amazing. Others ordered the barramundi which was also fabulous and the shrimp & mussels lansk. The lansk is essentially a tomato based sauce with noodles and the seafood in it. That lansk and the special were both definitely a bit spicy — medium spiciness for those who have a low tolerance for spice — but both very tasty and not overpowered by the spiciness at all. The desserts were also phenomenal — get the beignets or the espresso semifreddo — they were both fabulous. Our waitress was so friendly, helpful, and knowledgable about the menu. I would definitely go back!

Zinc was really nice, although we didn’t need a reservation for as early as 6, the restaurant was empty at that time. Two goat cheese soufflé best appetizer of our trip, light, fluffy and delish. Coral sea trout and cashew spring roll was also very nice. My barramundi was good but not as good as the one I had at Finz the night before. My husband’s dinner was excellent(and very German), pork loin chop with red cabbage and mashed potatoes. For dessert we had the lime and lemongrass brûlée for dessert, really nice complement to the soufflé appetizer.

That beef spring roll for starter was pretty filling, but lacked depth of flavour. The twice roasted duck leg however was delicious. Friendly, genuine service.
