Charming place with a great menu, bonus points to letting our group of 10 pre-order. Wait staff were cool and attentive without being over bearing. I had the prawn and haloumi fritters which were nice although they tasted strongly of felafel(or similar to) which I wasn’t expecting and it took away from the haloumi. Baklava for dessert was lovely, so overall a great lunch and I’ll definitely be back to check out their Friday sunset session on the rooftop soon!

My BF& I went to Mr Lawrence on Valentine’s Day 2015. Absolutely fabulous evening! 4 course dinner with paired wines. Could not have been better. The wines were beautifully matched with the food. The service was pretty good for a particularly busy night. The menu was set but we really appreciated that since I am not a fan of order mix ups that happen with A-la-carte dining on days like V day. The music was quite nice too. Was soft but not depressing. I guess the only thing that we didn’t like was that the chairs were plain hard wood — no cushioning whatsoever. Not comfortable. We don’t know what the usual menu is like but overall it seemed like a nice restaurant. We will go back :)

I’m torn at how to review this place. Is it an upmarket Moroccan restaurant, or is it a standard pub? If it’s a pub, I’m inclined to rate it 4 stars, but if it’s a restaurant maybe closer to 3 – 3.5. It’s decent either way. Aesthetics wise, it looks like a pub with a bit of flair. There’s a good selection of beer on tap and located across the road from the beach in Port Melbourne, I plan to come here more often for an afternoon beverage. Food wise, the influence is not pub food but Moroccan flavour, designed to be shared with small and large plates. We opted for a range of small plates and a side salad, but sitting at the bar watching the kitchen churn out big plates of pulled pork — we may have made the wrong choice here. The small plates were tasty, but missed the mark on a few points. Cauliflower salad was 100% raw(I couldn’t say cold, it was straight-out raw and tasteless) which they probably should have indicated on the menu if this was deliberate. Everything else we had(terrine, salt and pepper squid) was nice but unmemorable. I have already forgotten if we ordered anything else and I went here just a couple of days ago. If you don’t like flat parsley, avoid at all costs. Every dish has more parsley than any other ingredient. Not bad by any stretch. I’d definitely come back for a beer and check out their large plates to see if they are a bit tastier.

Very cool café/restaurant on the foreshore at Port Melbourne. Enjoy great food and coffee while watching the boats come in and the cool people go past. I had the fruit toast and jam. Yum.
