Whether you are a keen cook, a reluctant chef, or a dinner-from-a-jar specialist, having a night off is a relief. But when you are a veg*an, or keen on local or organic produce, your night off options are usually non-existent or too expensive. What luck then to have a treasure like home based catering business Studio Voodoo so close to home in paradise at Port Willunga. Anna & Matt from Studio Voodoo have a weekly ‘foodie Friday’ club, with a new menu released early each week on Facebook & via SMS. Orders are then taken via Facebook or SMS, and you then pick up your goodies on a Friday evening between 4pm and 8pm from their gorgeous eco-friendly house. Meals are served on crockery and trays which you return(washed of course!) for re-use so that Studio Voodoo is no waste. The food is all made from local, organic produce and is 100% vegan. There is often a raw dish or two, and gluten free options are clearly marked. Sometimes there is a weekly theme, and other weeks it is a round up of past favourites or new creations. The menus are so tempting, making a choice can be really hard — so there is also a weekly«Share Plate» with small portions of most of the things on the weekly menu, plus extras, enough to feed two people for $ 30. The share plates always feature freshly home baked Turkish bread sprinkled with sesame, or garlic Turkish. The delicious beetroot hommus also makes regular appearances, perfect for dunking the Turkish bread into! All of the salads are fresh, crunchy and flavoursome. The signature salad has herb, spinach & rocket mix with roast pumpkin, pomegranate, pecans, dates and delicious savoury chickpeas, with dressing on the side for you to add. Studio Voodoo always keep experimenting and coming up with tempting new dishes, like too-cute vegan sliders that came with one of the share plates in January. Also popular are the home made pastas. Stuffed with an ever changing array of house made flavours, including vegan cheese and artichoke with rocket pesto, pistachio and olive tapenade. Now that Autumn is here, abundant root veggies and figs find their way into the menu. Last week the share plate featured a fresh fig & pistachio salad, mushroom pâté(with agar jelly!), zuchinni fritters with saffron aoli, bejeweled Mexican rice, and a cheesy artichoke tart with artichoke & pumpkin, plus cute edible flower decoration. The chocolate & beetroot cake with choc-cardamon ganache was particularly delicious and a steal at $ 8 with plenty for two sweet tooths to enjoy. When they are offered, grab some of the choc-maple ice cream cookie sandwiches too! For more drool inducing pictures and menus check out their Facebook page. Studio Voodoo is an affordable and healthy weekly service with restaurant quality meals. See you there Friday!
