I so, so, so LOVED Fog. I wanted to give it 5 stars, this should probably be a 5 star review. Let’s just pretend it’s 5 stars as you read on, OK? It’s 5 stars in my heart, lol. Swanky and sexy, this is a place you dress up for. I had one of the best cocktails I’ve had in ages here — the green chilli margarita. Spicy, salty perfection in a glass. They make a killer Amaretto Sour too. If you read through my reviews, I order Amaretto Sours everywhere and judge their bartending skills based on that. Fog has one of the best. Our waiter was awesome, chatty, with helpful suggestions and attentive. Food was amazing. I tried both the fish taco and the vegetarian taco. They were both PERFECT fancy, swanky, gourmet tacos. Try both or either one, you won’t be disappointed. I had the pork belly main. Good, but not incredible. I think it was let down by the fact that we had a side of mashed potatoes and the pommes frites… and the potato salad that comes with the pork belly was the far inferior potato dish. Everyone loved their food. Why 4 stars then? We waited 3 hours for our mains. I’m not kidding. We were comped dessert(also magnificent) and a few other tidbits. For an 8pm reservation, we had our mains just after 11pm. Crazy. Also, I think Fog Bar, which we had a drink at after dinner, makes far inferior drinks than what they serve at the restaurant, just FYI. All that said, I want to have dinner here whenever I find myself in Melbourne again. I wish we had a Fog in Sydney! It would be on my very short list of favourites.

Good steaks done without pointless sparkle. Exactly what I like. Sweets were good too. I went with a friend in a wheelchair and unfortunately they don’t have a ramp(and there’s a step right at the front door). Wouldn’t have minded so much but the weather outside was chilly. The waiter was very keen to make us a comfortable as possible though.

Very nice place to have dinner and cocktails. There are some very pretty people here as well. I felt out of place wearing flats! First of all the green chilli margarita was beautiful. It comes with a whole green chilli on the side of the rim. Hubs had the espresso martini, which was really nice. We had the fish tacos to start, which were so tasty with the lamb special and the roast pork, both delicious. The pork was a really big serve, I shared the rest of it with my partner. No dessert as we were both full. The service was top notch, great effort.

Fog is how restaurants should be. Dim lighting, gorgeously chic décor and silver service without the poshness and pretentiousness of the white table cloth restaurants up the road. At first the menu looks a little uninspiring — but everything was cooked and presented beautifully — my mouth waters again just thinking about it. Top marks for a decidedly exquisite wine list and attention to detail. One of my favourite Melbourne restaurants. Service was exceptional. Food amazing.

Pretty amazing to find a Green Chile Cheeseburger on any restaurant menu in Melbourne! Sure do appreciate it. Negra Modelo beer? Wow that has got me transported back home for a minute. FOG is a swanky place with a range of food, polished service and nightlife also. The food here is solid and I definitely enjoyed that burger, the spicy chicken ribs, and the fish taco for 6 dollars is quite nice. FOG is a warm space inside and can be a good way to do lunch. I would also give breakfast a go as it has some relief from just Aussie style choices. Evenings can get going strong. Ive had to walk on by a couple of times when I wasn’t ready to take on wall to wall people.

Opposite a small peaceful neighbourhood park, an abundance of natural light cascades through FOG’s brillantly large windows. Featuring a split-level dining area and a long galley bar that makes fabulous concoctions of sweet alcoholism at night, FOG is furnished in a contemporary manner of dark woods, highlighted by modernistic lighting sculptures of ruby red twigs twisted into spheres. …Probably because it is located near Chapel Street, FOG may have a certain reputation at night. Nonetheless, it is a decidely easy lunch place — flavoursome and wholesome sized food, good value, flawless service. MoMo & Coco certainly have it on our list to come back for the molten chocolate cake, and the other irresistibles on the extensive and irresistible dessert menu!

Fog really does have a little bit of everything, separated into four areas and serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks it’s hard not to find something you like there. I like Fog Restaurant for their mid morning Brunch, I have sampled many items off the breakfast menu; my all time favourite being the Breakfast Quesadilla’s! These are served with Green Chilli’s, Cheese, Eggs and Potato with Salsa, Guacamole and Sour cream! Make sure you’ve brought your appetite if ordering the Quesadilla’s as they are most certainly a hearty feast. I have also come to Fog on a Friday night for a few glasses of wine and some tasty bar snacks after work. The staff at Fog are really professional and the whole venue has a really great relaxed, yet classy atmosphere. I recommend Fog anytime of the day whether it’s cocktails, food or coffee your after you’ll find something to satisfy you at Fog.

Run by a few good men from Albuquerque, Fog is a bit of a hidden gem for those who like American-centric menus. Lots of US and Tex Mex inspired options on the brunch, lunch and dinner menus, including quesadillas, lots of green chiles and even a main featuring grits! Love it! My friend is in love with the breakfast quesadillas, and Im a super fan of the tuna tartare with jalapeño. Cant wait to come back and try the lunch burger!

I normally visit Fog as a «pre-drinks» venue to head on to its neighbouring bars and night spots or as an afterwork drinks & dinner venue. My meal selections normally revolve around the cocktail menu, which make them more appetisers but at $ 10 from 5 – 10 Tuesday — Thursday you can’t go wrong! My choice, Vanilla & Passionfruit or Lycée. The cheese plate is great to share and the Calamari is very morish. I’ve also noticed the courtyard is playing host to a small ‘pop up’ style Belvedere bar which will be there to stay for entire Spring Racing carnival. All in all a great venue to host big groups or to dine with a select few.

I’ve heard serious restaurant critics say you should be wary of an eatery that caters to all meals in a day. With that in mind, Fog does everything from breakfast through to after dinner drinks. If I were rating it on individual meals, breakfast would only score a single star — maybe two. Dinner on the other hand, is worthy of a healthy four stars. For me though, where Fog really comes into its own is cocktail hour. $ 10 cocktails are available 5pm — midnight(Tuesday — Thursday) 5pm — 7pm(Friday & Saturday) go down well with a serving of pomme frites from the bar menu. Personally I’m a big advocate of the lychee caprioska on the $ 10 menu too. Dinner can be quite pricey, so if you’re on a budget consider the midweek two courses and a glass of wine combo for $ 45 a head. Oh, and the external rear courtyard is lovely all year round, but don’t venture out unless you’re a smoker. Or want to be.
