Great family restaurant, with a kids’ play area and a great kids’ menu such as chicken tenderloins.

The recent change of staff seems to have done wonders. Really enjoy the service and the areas are all classy and clean after the renovation. Being a big fan of the football and occasionally the races as well, that does add a certain something for me. Food is good, prices are what you’d expect. Love their parmigiana and I’m a big fan of them in general! Burgers are also a must have, though I can’t go past the schnitzel. Nice furnished beer garden out the side that I wasn’t aware of for my first 4 – 5 visits. Big screen for the sports, very close to the bar! Somewhere I go when I’ve no where else in mind or want a good time with friends with sport and pool on offer.

The food was nice but I see there is a new menu starting shortly. I hope they keep their burgers on there because that is what I was going to try next. The windmill is in the entertainment book which is always a bonus. The restaurant is nice and quiet for a catch up with friends and an amazing children’s area that will keep the kids entertained.

Two words: Budha Burger. Awesome! Staff were fantastic also. Bring the kids — they’ll dig the in-house iPads…

In years gone by, this pub was a bit of a flea-pit. No bottle-o, not many locals, no kitchen worth the name — it was really only a licensed TAB outlet. Then there came the pokies, which helped the place stay afloat. More recently, someone added together features of an inner urban location with its relative dearth of pubs, a big car park and a still daggy pub — and came up with the new Windmill Hotel, complete with a childrens’ play area in the bar, smart décor, savvy staff and a good chef. I had the fish special of the day: two pieces of the best battered butterfish(try saying that after a few beers) that it’s ever been my pleasure to eat. The batter included pepper, and the dish came with chips, a bowl of interesting green salad and a decent sized pot of tartare/mayonnaise substance. The fish was perfectly cooked and the chips were long and not oily. Pretty good for 17 bucks. My wingman, still suffering from an extended evening the day before, settled for a bowl of the same excellent chips, although the two bowls of sauce that came with the chips were substandard, apparently. The beer, of course, was superb. So don’t go past the new Windmill if you’re out Medindie way. They’re doing a damn fine job. Even if you’ve got kids with you, you can lock them safely behind a picket fence at the far end of the bar. There’s not much choice in pubs in the inner north, excluding North Adelaide — from the Bombay Bicycle Club at Ovingham to the Buck at Walkerville, the Windmill is about it, and there’s a lot to like about the place, not least the great cooking.

Both our meals were bloody horrible. We won’t be going there again and wouldnt recommend it to anyone! So disappointed :( There was no taste to either, except for the salt on the chips. I had the trio seafood basket. It was rubbery. Hubby had the mixed grill. Meat was extremely dry even with tomato sauce on it.

Upon entering the windmill i was greeted with live music and friendly bar staff, greeted accordingly and was placed at a table within minutes, However after ordering our meals(might i mention, slightly costly on the wallet) we noticed the live music was making general conversation quite difficult, the music itself was good though I ordered the well done Steak, so i knew i was in for a considerable wait anyway but the meals came out quite speedily, and were cooked to perfection, no complaints at all about the food, worth the wait and the price for sure, I would dine again for sure, ill just try and pick a night that doesn’t have live music

Our regular when we’re out this side of town with the kids. Very family friendly with a play ground and now a quiz night on Tuesdays. Previously reviewed this place after they changed their branding. They focus a lot or attention on their burgers but to be honest they’re not all that good. Can’t fault the parmiagiana or mixed grill. Absolutely fantastic value for money. Staff are very friendly and attentive.

I have been going to the Windmill for many years as it had a great front bar with TAB and nice counter meals, they have recently refurbished the place and it is really nice. But tonight 6 of us went for dinner, the menu looked great but that was about it, we waited almost 2 hours for our meals! I had a chicken schnitty with green pepper corn sauce, $ 18.50 and the schnitzel was tiny and arrived with minimal gravy and a grand total of 5 green pepper corns!!! The kids schnitzels(2 x) we more sizable than mine but the plain gravy had a severe bitter after taste. The missus had the baked tarragon chicken, this was top quality! The other major let down was that they need to thoroughly wash their beer glasses more often as 2 of the 3 pints of pale had no head and went flat really quickly. Two other tables were making a scene about how long they were waiting for the meals to come out, I would hate to see when they are really busy!

The are many pubs around Adelaide that got an interior facelift during the 90’s with the advent of Poker Machines being introduced. This basically meant that the eatery/food area, side bar and poker machine area had new carpet(usually some weird pattern encorportaing vibrant colours), brass looking fixtures and fittings, and a coat of paint(plus an ATM). The Windmill on Main North Road is one such pub. Some pubs that have gone through this change(and remained in such a state) have kept their character or at least created a new one that endears to the clientel. I unfortunatley do not get this feeling from the Windmill. The Hotel offers the same ammenities as you would expect from any normal pub, but that is where it stops. The one saving grace that I can see is the food. It goes without saying that it is quite cheap, that is to make sure that the gambling patrons think they are getting a bargain. The surprising this is that the meals are of a very good quality. I have been there a number of times and have never been dissapointed. Good flavours in the pastas, large sized(and not over cooked) schnitzels, and fish options that are given respect and not just hurled into the deep fryer! If you are around that area and keen for a good feed that does not leave a dent in your wallet, then head on over! Who, knows, you may even get some free games on the Dolphin Treasure!
