I like to think of Simon Johnson as my own personal chef. He knows my tastes and knows what I like. And then he conveniently packages my meals to be easily used any day of the week. I really love his pasta sauces. I buy them as a base and add in my own additional elements(chorizo, olives, capsicum, you name it) and the result is one gourmet tasting dish. If you are looking to impress your friends/lover/parents and prove your master chef ability(well, your only slightly cheating right?), buying some core products from Simon Johnson will be a good way to start.

If you need any encouragement to throw a dinner party or invite friends over for an apero, Simon Johnson is happy to provide said encouragement. Simply walking into the giant shed had me scanning my diary for free dates. Already a fan of Simon Johnson products(their putanesca pasta sauce is divine), I was delighted to find a store full of their quality goods. What’s more, they stock Sel de Guerande — without a doubt THEBEST salt in the world. I’d been using my own stock sparingly, not sure when I would next be in France so as to purchase some more. Now that I know where to find it, I dare say my cholesterol levels will be soaring. They have beautiful French cheeses, dark chocolates, anchovies, olives, curry pastes, knives, glasses, cheese boards, teapots, tea, coffee … something to satisfy the gourmet in all of us. And whilst their products aren’t cheap, they were decidedly cheaper than I was expecting, which is both pleasing and dangerous. They sell takeaway tea and coffee too, so you can sip whilst you survey. A must see shop for foodies or for anyone looking to entertain — after all, good food is a best excuse to entertain.

Simon Johnson is one of those coveted stores of many of my foodie friends. The selection of imported and local goods are astronomical. They can also be that in price! $ 400 for some olive oil? Really? I am certainly not in that upper echelon that I can afford these exact products and even if I was, I don’t think I could be such a lush and do that. However, there are many products I can afford and are willing to purchase. Divine chocolate from around the globe is so luxurious and great as a gift or dinner party treat. They have the Simon Johnson label which is all made in the Alexandria factory where they also hold cooking and entertaining classes. Cute! The SJ label can be more affordable than the international stuff. I mean there’s a Balsamic for $ 130 for God sake! The Fromagerie is a gateway to heaven for a cheese lover. A cooled separate room for cheese of the world. Hundreds of them! They also have a Fois Gras. Oohhhh La la!

If you love food and you love quality — why not merge the two? Well thats what Simon Johnson has done. This well known«purveyor of quality food» has taken all the delicious global treats and placed them all under one roof. Walking into the store you can feel you heart begin to race… how does one even begin to decide what to buy… but before you grab everything off the shelved there is a little something that could stand in your way — and that would be the price. Simon Johnson is expensive. This is not the store you come to grab all your groceries(unless you’re lucky enough to have financial freedom) this is the place you come to get that something special. They have everything — pastas, breads, cookies, chocolates, pastes, condiments and beverages. If you’re a cheese addict i think you’re going to have a heart attack with the amount of choice and flavours…(I don’t like cheese so i can’t comment) I’m a huge fan of fine olive oil and let me tell you at Simon Johnson there is plenty… you have a wide range of different of oils in shades of yellow and green and all I could wish for was some fresh bread to try them all out. Yes its expensive but its delicious and sometimes its worth splurging on that little something special…
