This was my first time trying Nepalese cuisine. I am no expert but I could say that it is relatively similar to Indian cuisine. Lots of spices and yumminess ! FOOD – Chicken Momo: Love it ! 4 out of 6 dumplings’ skin had kinda split open but luckily they were all still flavourful. Unlike chinese dumplings, there was a hint of spice which I really liked. Spinach Lamb: It was OK. Nothing to rave about. Curry Goat: Awesomeness. Not too spicy and the goat meat did not have the typical strong taste to it(phew!) SERVICE – I’m suspecting there is only chef in the kitchen. Even though the restaurant was pretty empty, it took quite a while before the food was served. TONOTE – One serving of rice($ 3.50, argh) is pretty big. If you are dining with a mate, I would suggest getting a nan + rice, instead of 2 rice.

Last night I tried a Himalayan Steak at Mandala Nepalese Restaurant in Randwick and it was interesting to say the least. I ordered it mainly out of curiousity as I had never seen a dish like it and I wanted to see what black pancakes looked like, I really enjoyed it though. It consisted of beef medallions in a cashew nut and pesto sauce, served with black lentil pancakes. It was a unique dish with many flavours, quite spicy but very good. I liked the lentil pancakes, they are a really good and healthy idea an interesting alternative to rice or cous cous.
