Tonight was the end of a long work week and thus called for pizza delivery. Having recently received an ad in the mail, I downloaded the Crust app and placed my order whilst on the commute home. It’s just that easy! The hard part was deciding whether to get a traditional pizza, half and half, one of their specialty options or create your own. I opted for the Truffle Beef Rossini, because, well… Truffles! It delivered on everything but the black truffle aioli which seemed to get lost in all the other great toppings. There was beef, mushrooms, Béchamel sauce, onions, parsley, basil and mozzarella. I mean seriously, I couldn’t refuse! Delivery takes close to an hour but the pizza was on point. If I were them I would consider renaming this pizza as the truffles are a stretch to find. However, there are so many tasty options. This will definitely be in the rotation.

Great service and the food is much lighter to eat than most fastfood pizza venues

I remember when these guys were just starting out and it was like this «Do you want to get crust» «ohhhh crust night hell yeah’! Now crust has expanded their franchise and are in most major cities and some regional centres. The quality is good and the price is a bit more than Dominos however what price would you put on quality, and how far are you willing to go? Join me in a culinary adventure that is a feast for the senses and a egotistical trip of the taste buds. The online ordering system is great yet the wait can be about a hour, a small price to pay for quality. Free your mind and indulge.

Well… OK, I see that others have given this joint a 5 star rating, but I really can’t catch that train. I’ve only been in Melbourne for three weeks and I’ve eaten pizza from Crust twice. Is that a lot? I’m not sure. Both times were ordered in and I have to say the first time was better than the second. Who knows why these things happen… but, alas, they do. The first time the order was made by my flatmate and I don’t even know what kind of pizza he called in, but one had an interesting tasting mustard-y(not a word!) sauce on it and heaps of arugula(people call that shhhtuff«Rocket» here). It was still tasty nonetheless. The second time the order was made by yours truly because I was incredibly hungover and couldn’t be bothered to make myself a proper dinner. I have to say the online ordering system is a gem, but when the pizza arrived it was fairly warm and kind of looked like it had been thrown around a bit. Again, it was still tasty nonetheless. I did a half n half order with one side prosciutto and the other crust supreme. I reckon I’ll try something different next time as these two blends didn’t knock my socks off… I think I was wearing socks at the time. Anyways, the fact that this place is close by AND has an excellent online ordering system for nights when I’m suffering from alcohol-induced pain means that I’ll probably hit them up again… after all, third times a charm?

Their online ordering system is awesome. Though it provides for a quick and easy way to order in, it took me and some mates almost an hour last night to decide what we wanted off of their delicious menu. If you’ve noticed from previous posts, I’m a big fan of vegetarian meals. Within the past 8 months here in Melbourne, I’ve only gotten the vego options at Crust but last night that changed. We finally decided on a pizza and a calzone to split amongst three chicks. This was more than enough food and a great dinner for only 10 bucks each. We got a large pizza; half tandoori chicken and half vegetarian supreme along with a Peri-Peri Calzone. I’m pretty sure, I’ll never be ordering vegetarian from Crust again. I’m a really picky meat eater and I must admit, this chicken was grilled to perfection. A perfect sunday night order in meal to enjoy time and time again.

Deliveries often take up to an hour, so if you’re in Richmond it’s likely faster to walk down to the store to pick up your order. But the pizzas are always fresh and good. There’s always consistency in every order.

My favourite dial-a-pizza outlet in Richmond, Crust pizza never fails to hit the spot with me. Sure, it might be a tad bit more expensive that other pizza chains but I believe you’re paying for the quality. And quality is what you get. I’ve never had reason to complain and my pizzas always arrive on time or even early. All time favourites include the Morrocan Lamb, garlic prawn and Philly Steak. And if you can’t decide what to get and feel like a variety of flavours, you can opt for half and half, so long as the pizzas are in the same category. And if you’re up for something deliciously different, try the Peking duck or the Wagyu prawn. The great thing about Crust pizza is it’s not as oily as conventional varieties so you don’t feel half as bad after a full meal. And when ever I order Crust pizza, I always try and keep some for the next day because somehow they taste even better — a day older!
