Came for dinner, service was fast but the portions of food were definitely not adequate for the prices that are charged. Fish and chips were $ 17, and received 3 very small pieces of extremely oily deep fried fish and were only given 4 hand cut oily chips that weren’t cooked through, leaving them undercooked in the centre. Was a bit disappointing Service was friendly

Here’s the deal with Ruby’s: –They never, ever ever ever, ever have enough staff. There could be two other people in the pub and you will still wait at least 5 mins to order drinks and food. –Try to sit in the front bar whilst enjoying your food and beverage since the back portion will inevitably be full of families with screaming children. –Food is pretty good quality and good variety but can be inconsistent. Got the veggie burger a few months ago and loved it. Got it again last week and it was half the size. All in all not a bad place for a drink and a feed as long as you know what to expect. Ribs’ night is good value, but I’m not a fan of the wings. Coated rather than fried crispy.

Just down the road from where we work, this place is easy to head to on whim or when we’re after a casual client lunch. The interior is what you’d expect from a pub in Rozelle — dated, slightly industrial and a bit ad-hoc. The lunch is menu is all I can comment on and it’s good. There’s a huge selection of $ 10 and $ 15 meals, serving sizes are more than adequate for lunch and whatever these guys are putting on the fries rocks my world. Order everything at the bar, expect inconsistent service but don’t expect to wait too long for your meals.

We had a minifeast lunch last weekend. Beef burger was good with great chips. Meatballs entrée had really nice Neapolitan sauce. meatballs themselves ok. Southern chicken wings were bit boring and not enough blue cheese in the sauce. Slow cooked lamb taco was totally amazing… maybe the best taco I’ve ever had. Next time I’ll order 5 of them instead. Aside from that the place was low key on Sunday but like the set out in the back room. cool little pub that would be great to have a a local.

Where the hell did this come from?! The other night as I drove along Victoria Rd I passed the sparkling lights of Ruby’s new courtyard. Impressed, I decided to check it out — might be nice for an afternoon drink, I thought. Looks pretty, not too busy. In this statement I was both very right and very wrong. Ruby L’otel is extremely pretty. I’d never been here prior to the renovations, but any money says that it’s a world above what it was. What’s more, the staff are ridiculously attractive as well, so the entire joint is easy on the eye. As for quiet, I was way off. It seems that my friends are I were the last to find out about Ruby’s, as the entire place was full by 8pm, swarming with crowds of all ages, most notably Balmain, Rozelle and Lilyfield’s younger generation. The area’s future MILFs seem to flock here in hoards, snagged by The Ruby’s schmancy renos and the extensive and good-looking cocktail list, including $ 30 cocktail jugs and $ 8 cocktail slushies. The menu is pretty attractive too, hooking me simply with the snack food(Kumera chips with spiced sour cream and chilli fries with aioli and chilli sauce). This moved on to an equally attractive bar menu, followed by ‘mains’, sides and tacos($ 3 on Trivia Tuesdays). Whilst there’s to be no drinking or eating in the outside area after 6pm, luckily the back indoor courtyard feels as if you’re outdoors, so you don’t loose the beer garden experience. The eye candy alone makes frequenting Ruby L’otel an extremely good idea. However, an added incentive is that they sell pints of Monteiths Cider for only $ 7.50(only 50 cents more than a schooner) and a sip of this elixir tastes like biting into a crisp Granny Smith. It is thus no surprise that Ruby L’otel quickly rises to ‘local’ status. Judging by the number of people at Ruby’s you probably already know it exists. But, if you’re like me and it has somehow managed to evade you, don’t go another day in the dark. This place is great.
